New Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue screenshot released

March 28th, 2016 marks the 14th anniversary of the release of Kingdom Hearts in Japan. In order to commemorate this anniversary, the Japanese Kingdom Hearts Twitter account posted a short "Thank You" message from series director Tetsuya Nomura. Along with the message comes a brand new screenshot of Daybreak Town from Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. You can view the screenshot and a translation of the tweet thanks to Aru Akise below:

It's been 14 years since the birth of KH. It's now the same age Sora was when he first departed on his adventure. It's all thanks to all of you who've been supporting us for so long. Thank you so much. I leave you with Daybreak Town, which is under development for 2.8. Please, continue supporting us. - Nomura

What do you think of the new screenshot? What are some of your favorite Kingdom Hearts memories from the past 14 years? Let us know in the comments below!

Cool and all, but where's my emotional scene? Posted Image

Just kidding, but this is interesting. Much improved graphics, which gets me positive about KH3 as well.

Daybreak Town looks kind of like the city I was born in :) Look up 'Chester, England' on Google Images!

Interesting that Daybreak Town would look so... dark =P. Nice, though.

It's probably because the lighting is somewhat mimicking actual daybreak and what a place looks like when the sun's rising

Wow, Daybreak Town's 3D render looks like the Kingdom of Corona.

I was thinking the same thing!

I was wondering how Daybreak Town would look in Unreal Engine when it's originally a pop-up book. And this looks absolutely beautiful!

One of my favorite memories was when they promised us a new KH game every year and stayed true to that for only 6 years :3

For me personally this has a very continental European Town feeling to it/appearance. My only ' issue' with it; is it looks so bleak; the detail is stunning and the Kingdom shader looks phenomenal- however it looks depressing. I know there are theories speculating that this is foreshadowing what is to come etc. It will be interesting to see what the foretellers look like too. Overall though any news is good news and it is something new too

Nice but still would like Unchained X.

We have been around this series for no many years by now, jumping from console to console and with so much mysteries around the series' future that we deserve a full 10minutes-long amazing trailer recapping KH1 to KH 2.8 (with brand new footage please!) to celebrate this anniversary. You can have this image of yours Square. Thanks.

It looks a bit more one the realistic side than I expected. I wonder if this change the art style a bit?

Any way, this looks great!

oh wow! I just absolutely love sunrises and sunsets! It gives of this calming atmosphere and I just can't stay sad when it's that time of day :D looking at this makes me feel the same. I love how the light just peeks through and just gah! I just love this a lot. Excuse me while I aggressively print out too much copies of this picture to bury myself in to keep me content.
