Private Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX event in Italy reveals new battle quotes for Roxas

Archives Team member Everglow (the administrator of our sister website, Sora's Dream) was invited to a private event in Milan, Italy on November 7, 2014 where they allowed you try the Italian version of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX before its release on December 5, 2014. The Italian version of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX features English voicing acting with Italian text.

Everglow noticed whilst watching a friend of his play the Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix portion of the HD collection at the event that Roxas has new battle quotes. Square Enix took these battle quotes straight from the Nintendo DS version of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days along with Ventus in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix.

You can view pictures of Everglow at the private event below.

Does he have new battle quotes when you fight him as Sora or when you are fighting as him or both?

That doesn't sound good... Even though I would like to have more quotes for Roxas but giving him quotes of a different personality like Ventus's would ruin his character.Roxas is known for his silence, seriousness and also for his way to keep secrets inside him. Furthermore, he "most of the time" doesn't scream and raise his voice as Ventus's. In the other hand, Ventus talks a lot, takes out everything inside him easily and his voice is so high. That's why I hope that they are not trying to make Roxas and Ventus the same  even on their personality.

Huh, well that could be interesting, seeing as how when Jesse originally recorded for KH2, his voice for his battle quotes sounded a bit different from his dialogue voice. So it would be nice to hear them sound a little more consistent. That being said though, I hope they still keep his original quotes as well, I grew up with those. Plus, more battle quotes, more variety. Why get rid of any? :P

I'm confused... I've read the comments and it seems very mixed, so I don't know how to feel... I kinda want to see a video of it before I judge...

That's terrible if some of the battle quotes are taken from Ventus. Now people are REALLY gonna say that Roxas is Ventus. Unless they pitched the quotes down some to sound more like Roxas.

huh interesting.did they just take Ventus's voice clips or re voice them with Roxas's deeper voice?

So if they're really taking battle quotes from the DS version of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, could that mean they're doing the same thing for the absent silhouettes as well?! :D

Yeah, I'm guessing/hoping pitch change. They did something similar with some of Sora's ReCoM battle quotes (ie. "wind", "force", "stop"; it's REALLY noticeable since it clashes with deep-voiced KH2 Sora); hopefully it's not as drastic here, considering there's no voice-break issues with either character.

There's no need to be disappointed by this, since the only noticeable quote taken from Ventus is a finisher one, which sounds just fine on Roxas. There's a great concept of continuity in this Collection, since those people who played the NDS version of Days (and even Re:coded) will hear Roxas fighting just like there.

I played it myself so I can guarantee that I've got a very good impression and appreciated Square Enix's effort to address something like that. They didn't do the same for the Japanese version, where Roxas' voice is still terrible.

I'm hoping so.

You guys get too worked up over stuff. I'm 99% certain they're just talking about the Roxas fight with Sora. Even then, what's the big deal if they replaced a few with Ventus? Regardless of the fact that they are two different people, it's the same actor. I really don't think 'Ventus' personality is going to show in Roxas even though they're SO DIFFERENT' when it's just a bunch of grunts and yells. Chill out.

This is odd. Days, I get, but BBS....Jesse has a different voice for Ventus than the one he uses for Roxas.

Barely. Ven's is just slightly higher-pitched. That's /literally/ the only difference. It's not a big enough difference to even notice while you're playing. And I can guarantee that's why they chose to do it in the first place.

Everglow is always sexy.

Seriously, that's odd. Maybe because they want to connect Roxas and Ven even more?

no the 358 lines are a hint for a full 358 remake coming in 2017 or 2016 after kh3 and ffxv!

That's quite a longshot there. xD

Someone's doing an English 2.5 2FM walkthrough, in case anyone wanted to see: 1, 2 (German LPer). Far as I can tell, Days quotes/cries were added alongside, they're not a complete replacement (though since this seems to be the not-fully-finished JP hacked version, instead of the retail worldwide version, so there may be changes in the meantime. Or maybe I'm remembering wrong and all those cries were from original KH2?).
