CHAPTER EIGHT ECHO IN THE LIGHTHOUSE After returning to the north-east motorway, Terra was thinking about the church number 13. He wasnt sure where it was locating though. According to Shabon it was somewhere at Southern town, but then again according to Lea, it was located at other side of the lake. According to Saix, there was no such place and that town had only 7 church left since 5 others were destroyed by monsters swarming attacks. "Your sure there isnt 13th church?" Terra asked. "Im positive. Hollow Gardens had only 12 church. It is told through town history and in all records there is around the country." Saix said. "Oh come on! There is 13th one on other side of the lake." Lea said. "I think that church is here. But its in southern corner of town." Shabon said. All three started arguing about it. Saix was the one to care less of the fight, but both Shabon and Lea were certain of their information. Terra hold his head which was hurting a little. "Its on north!" Lea shouted. "We will go to south! Its there and i wanna out of this town soon as possible!" Shabon shouted back. "Your waisting your time already..." Saix muttered. Terra saw weird image in his head. It was Aqua, dressing up into her jacket inside an room, where was great wiev to the lake. Then he realised. "I think theres this ship on north side of the lake..." Terra said. All three stopped arguing. "You mean, Bay-Gardens hotel ship?" Shabon asked. "Yeah. Thats the one. It was always anchored to the bay, never setting sail. I wonder if its still there though..." "Yes. Its still there." Saix said and took shotgun to the table and started cleaning it up. "But like everything else in this town, its abandoned and its only matter of time before it starts sinking. Also, those bloodthirsty but blind creatures have wandered inside the ship and inhabited it for their own. They will be lurking inside the darkness, waiting for those rare human beings in area to come for their meal." "Yeah i heard that ship is there too. But i didnt know its filled with monsters yet. Usually those creatures try to stay away from lake and rivers once they have rised to the land from there." Lea said. "But! Its impossible to find it. Without proper care from human beings, lakes flow has moved it away from its original spot." Saix said, putting shotgun back to the corner. "Acctually, i heard that theres an controller on Southern lighthouse that will light the ships fog-lights. Lighthouses also has back-up generator, so it will work without towns electricity systems, meaning that it still works." Shabon explained. Terra stood up. "Lets head to that light house then." He said. "Good. Acctually i wanna make a little errand for you too. There should be pack of pain killers inside the lighthouses sixth floor. I trust you can bring them to me. For an price i might give you something that makes it worth." Saix said. "What do you need pain killers for?" Lea asked. "In case you return with more broken bodies thats why..." Lighthouse was down from the motorway toward the lake. However, there was just one thing between Terra and the building... "Damn gate!" Terra shouted and kicked the gate. Behind this iron gate was staircase, leading down to the lighthouses yard. "Hey guys..." Shabon started. "Not now!" Both men said. Lea tried to open gates lock with his lockpick. "But..." "Shhh!" "Damn you two!" Shabon shouted and pushed both men away just before huge truck drived against the gate, pushing it down the stairs. Terra rised his head and saw no one on the trucks funnel. Then he saw an movement on trucks roof and saw Vanitas. He rised up his sword and truck reversed. Vanitas made echoing metalic breath like sound and pointed his sword to them and truck started driving toward them again. "Whats this supposed to be? A ghost truck?" Lea shouted and jumped away from the footpath to the motorway. Shabon jumped to the fence while Terra dodged trucks wheels just in time. "Guys! Gate is open! Lets run down to the lighthouse!" Shabon shouted and runned already. Lea and Terra didnt wait for truck and Vanitas to turn around, so they runned after her. But Masked monster told the truck to turn around and so it did, destroying wall of Yens Gas station. Trio runned down the stairs, but Terra already saw light of the truck coming back and turning to the stairway. "Its coming down!" He shouted. "Dont worry! Were almost there!" Shabon shouted and kept his hands ready to push the door open, if it wasnt locked that is. Truck was just couple of meters away from Lea, who was most behind one. Shabon pushed door open and flied in from suprise and Terra and Lea followed her and truck crushed against the lighthouses wall, blocking the entry. "That was a close one..." Terra sighed. "You said it. It almost killed us." Lea said and sat down to chair in order to catch his breath. Shabon was still shocked. So shocked that she almost cried. "What if door would have been locked too?" She whispred with hand on her mouth. "Lets not worry about that. Thanks Shabon, for being so fast runner." Lea grinned. Shabon smiled a little and stood up. She looked to the door, which was covered by trucks front side. "How do we get out of here now?" She asked. "Lets worry that after we find those controllers and pain killers..." Terra said. He wasnt worrying about getting out. He was worrying about Vanitas getting in. It could climb up from the window of next floor since truck was big enough. Shabon crawled under the table, which was covered by cloth. Lea crawled after her and Terra hided behind an pilar with pistol. It was risky move. If he wasnt careful enough, Vanitas could slice his head off. However, monster first was just standing at the stairways, then Terra noticed it was going upstairs instead of downstair. Terra went quietly after him. "He is at toppest floor." Terra whispered when finally coming down. Lea and Shabon crawled from under the table. "Really? What he is doing there?" Lea asked. "It seems he is shouting toward the lake. Not sure why though." "Well we haf to get him down from there. All controls are in that floor." Shabon said.

CHAPTER TWO BETRAYAL "Axel. You are now 18 years old." Terra said. Axel, eldest son of Terra and Aqua Pyroxia was brought to see his parents. He had two younger brothers, Roxas and Ventus, both were 10 years old. "We wanted to reveal an secret around our family to you, so you may someday pass the knowledge of this tradition to your children." Aqua said. "Yeah? What is it then?" Axel asked. He had to be fast. He was suppose to go watch movies with his friends Demyx and Saix. "As you know we and four other families have common history as founders of this town." Aqua started. "Each 40 years an child between ages of 4 and 15 is sacrificed from each family, so gods will keep us safe." "You really believe in that stuff?" Axel asked. "Of course we do. My sister was sacrificed 40 years ago." Terra said. "In this saturday is time again and possibly one of your brothers or cousins will be goner." "Should we tell this to them?" Axel asked. "No. Child gets knowledge of this after he or she is 18. It must not be passed or gods curse will follow our family until all of us is dead." Aqua said sadly. Axel saw seriousness in his mothers face. An sadness in her eyes. She was strong woman, but she was almost crying. Axel knew that they meant every word they said. "All right then. I will not tell another soul." Axel said. His parents nodded, allowing him to leave the room and all the words they spoke behind it. Axel left the room and walked to the hall to took his coat and wallet. "Axel! Your going somewhere?" Someone asked. Axel turned his face and saw his younger brother Roxas. Roxas and Ventus were same looking, though they had different taste of cloths. Roxas liked black and white, while Ventus liked more greenish shirts. "Yeah. Im going to see a movie with my friends." Axel answered. "Can i come with you? Ven is grumpy and doesnt wanna play with me." "Why he is grumpy for?" "I dunno. All i know is that mom doesnt wanna him to go play with his friend Vanitas." Roxas said. He looked like word "Vanitas" would have been an bad one. "Maybe mom has heard about Vanitas bad reputation around town. He is a troublemaker after all." Axel said and was about to leave, when Roxas took grip from his coat. "Please." He said. Axel sighed. "All right then..." He said. Roxas took his coat and together they stepped into cool and fresh fall air. Ground around the gardens was wet, trees were about to drop their leaves soon and wind was breezing like crazy. Pyroxias house located at hill in nearby forest of Flood. Forest itself surrounded town of Dusker. It wasnt that big town. It had length of three kilometers from east to west and two from north to south and had three schools, two hospitals, one prison and two libraries. Of course there was few shopping mals, movie theather and five churches. Interestingly all churches were named after a local family. South-west one was ST Pyroxias church. However, not all people were allowed to enter them and schools didnt make any trips to them. At town, Roxas stopped few times to look to windows of shops that was selling cool things. He even wanted Axel to buy them for him, but Axel didnt have enough money for anything else than movie tickets. Soon they saw Saix and Demyx at movie theather. "Howdy there!" Demyx said and laughed a little. "Hi Demyx. Hows the quitar practices?" Axel asked. "You look at the guy with reputation of best guitarist of the town." Demyx said proudly. "Cool! Can you play something?" Roxas asked. "Id like to but i have no guitar with me right now... uhh... which one you are?" Demyx asked little awkwardly. "Roxas." Roxas and Axel answered at same time. Saix sighed. "Why did you bring him here? We are not gonna watch some kid movies here arent we?" He said grumpily. Axel grinned to him. "Dont worry. Choose any film you like and i find a way to enter the auditorium." Roxas said and winked. Axel knew what he meant. Roxas had somewhat odd ability to get himself into places where he isnt supposed to go. He never told how he does it though. Saix agreed with his plan. It took many minutes before Saix, Axel and Demyx agreed with the same choice. They were gonna watch an thriller with murders and somewhat dark elements. Axel knew that Roxas secretly watched them in home sometimes, so he wasnt worried about how boy would react on movies. As they finally were inside auditorium, Roxas was there too, though he hided a little so guard wouldnt notice him before lights would have turned down. Roxas sat between Saix and Axel while Demyx sat to Axels left side. Movie started, Demyx ate half of his popcorns before first ten minutes would have passed and even Saix seemed to enjoy the movie. However, Axel couldnt stop wondering why Saix kept staring at Roxas with side-eye. Maybe he was all mad for him coming along with them. "Can i have some of your popcorns Saix?" Demyx whispered. Saix ignored him by taking his popcorns farther. Demyx sighed and turned his face back to screen just in the second to see murdering scene. Roxas covered his eyes and Demyx looked like he wanted to puke. Saix looked bored from the scene, while Axel though it looked cool. Then suddenly Axel saw how something happened to cloth of chair. It burned away a little. Movie was suddenly shutted down, leaving the room into darkness. "Whats happening?" Demyx asked. "Maybe there is some technical problems?" Axel suggested. Then Demyx gasped loudly when Roxas started screaming. "Roxas? Whats wrong?" Axel asked. "Help!" Roxas shouted. It was like noice was coming farther. Axel moved his hand to the right, but Roxas wasnt there. Saix was also missing. "What the hell?" He stood up and runned down the auditorium with that small bit of light he was able to use for seeing. He opened door and saw hooded figures carrying kicking Roxas down the stairs. "Hey! Stop it!" He shouted. Guards didnt do anything, but stare. How low was security of citizens these days? Axel runned down the stairs and jumped on one of the persons. As he knocked him against the ground, he made another hooded person fall down too. This was the one who was also carrying Roxas. "Let go of me you lunatic!" Roxas said and punched the guy to the face. He stood up and runned away from the hooded guys. "Axel!" Demyx shouted as he came down the stairs. One of the hooded guys took an pistol from the cloak and targeted it to Axels head. The guy Axel was holding on pushed pistol upper and guy holding the pistol shot. "Dont! We must not harm any Pyroxias except the sacrificed one!" Man said. "Right..." Pistol guy said and runned after Roxas. Axel got punch to his stomach and he fell to his back, allowing man he was holding to stood up. "Demyx! Little help!" Axel shouted, but saw that Demyx was weakly holding on the railing. His grey shirt was covered in blood and so was boys left hand too. Bullet was in middle of his chest... causing the bleed. "Demyx? Hold on!" Axel shouted, but then he got a strong strike to back of his head. His sight slowly went blurry as he fell unconscious.
