Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was is in his heart in BBS and in KH 1. Ventus also has been inside his own heart twice. I assume every Keyblade Wielder has their own personal Station of Awakening they've at least visited once. A lot of people seem to either go unconscious or at least have their eyes closed when they visit a Station of Awakening. Sora's physical body could possibly be unconscious in this scene.

Honestly, yours would have been a more likely. Whether Xion comes back or not is still up in the air, even is she's on the KH 3 cover art and had an appearance in DDD. This was one of those moments were I decided to jump on the bandwagon before thinking it through first.

He had practically had a blank appearance before Sora came along.

Exactly. Not to mention, Vanitas was born with the appearance of an Unversed. This dark version of Aqua doesn't have anything like that. The reason why Vanitas looks like Sora was because he didn't have an actual human appearance to call his own so he took on Sora's appearance instead when Sora took in Ven's heart to heal it when Sora was first born.

With all the stuff that's going on in that trailer, yeah it's hard. There are actually two versions of the trailer. There's a closed caption one that has "Don't Think Twice" playing and there's a Japanese one without subtitles on SE's Japanese Youtube channel that has "Chikai" playing. The other BH6 trailer had two versions too.

It's there. You just have to listen close enough and ignore everything else. There's some new verses in the Closed Caption one. It's like that in the Japanese one too but we already heard the full version of Chikai.

People say that Vanitas might have split Aqua in two like Ven was split in two by MX. I'll be honest, this theory kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I don't think this is the case.
