Why am I always the one who has to the message across in my house?
Shana09 repliedWell basically my mom was giving me shit yesterday for exercising and telling me I'm a dumbass and I don't know any better. She also hates me for talking to one guy as a friend. It didn't annoy me that much but it was pretty pathetic, she would scream and me and belittle me.
Today however, my mom was attacking my brother for doing something she wanted him to do! He spent 5 hours changing the stand for the TV and she didn't like it and attacked my brother saying he is...

I told her the truth since NO ONE would say this to her since my brother is too loyal and my dad is an ass anyways, I said "If you keep on acting like this towards him and me, no one will care enough to take care of you". She finally shut up and stopped saying shit. She just needs to stop attacking her kids over nothing.
HarLea Quinn repliedWow sounds like your mom has some issues . I would never belittle my children like that. I know you and your mom have had issues in the past with this stuff but remember it's not you that's the problem .Sorry to hear you are going through this stuff again .
Shana09 repliedIt's a cultural thing actually, we aren't supposed to talk to the opposite sex and we should always listen to our parents ways and thoughts and not think for ourself. And that we should only care about our studies. Also there are gossipers and she doesn't want me to do stuff or people will gossip about us and say bad stuff about us to other people, we usually are said to be great people.
She is more relax on this cultural thing but she has a lot of issues and experiences so...
HarLea Quinn repliedTheres a difference in trying to teach your kids certain expectations and tearing down their self esteem and belittling them though . It's not ok and it's good you let your mom know it's not ok either bc all it does is breed resentment and anger and slowly erodes her relationships with her kids.

She can visit, but if I am going to get a job, have a family, and have her nag me all the time then there is going to be a problem. Lets not forget I am not having an arranged marriage even though she wants me to have one. I'll still let her visit and probably leave my kids over and get to know her, since she is still a nice parent. Like I said, she is bipolar...

Exactly but she and other indians wont allow that, I am more scared of what will seriously happen when it does turn out I married someone I wasn't arranged to. Like my parents will be extremely pissed, my moms friends will be pissed, a lot of people will be pissed.
