Okay, so after seeing the ending, I'm pretty sure I get what Nomura was going for with Xehanort. He wanted to create an antagonist who was well-intentioned but got so massively carried away in pursuing his goals to the point that he disregarded the wellbeing of others. That's a good angle and I feel it's a proper fit for the general tone KH is going for. Very Disney.

I just wish these good intentions were a bigger focus of Xehanort's character. I mean, they had ample opportunity to explore this side of him in BBS and I really wish they had.

he just needed to explain some kind of motivation before killing him

I mean...I'm not shocked. That is very much in line with Nomura's style. I just think executing it that way might have worked out better.

Exactly. So, as long as it's fixed I don't mind. It's not like anyone would expect to see this side of Xehanort from the start anyway.

But it seems he's not going to make the same mistake with MoM

if MoM is next main antagonist

idk why but I get the vibe that MoM is going to be more like an anti-hero, bordering on villain

It's always more dramatic to see such things when the character's dead already. To me it's what made Crisis Core worked: we knew Zack would die, which made the game even more dramatic
