The Future Can Be Changed

 

Chapter 1 - The First Important Decision

 

In the year of 2258, Humans had found a new planet to live. Earth had been seriously damaged, and with time, had been turned into a place where most of the life could not survive for much longer -- there were poisonous gases around the atmosphere, insects had gotten smarter, and so they knew when to attack, injure, and easily transmit diseases.

 

Besides that, new kinds of wild animals had started to appear -- some were like a mix of a bear with an alligator, other resembled the dinosaur, which had disappeared from Earth centuries ago. It was really hard to keep living on Earth -- and some people refused to leave it, and most of them ended up dying -- either by a disease or by being attacked by these wild animals.

 

In the middle of this, there was a small family, which was composed by a fifteen-years old boy, a thirty-eight years woman, and a sixty-four years old woman. They were respectively named Jason, Keyla, and Vear. They were having a hard time deciding whether they would stay here, on Earth, and have risks of being killed or dying at any second, or going to the recently discovered new planet.

 

Vear wanted to stay, because all of her family had lived and died here -- her mom, dad, brother, cousins and grandparents -- but Keyla did not want to, because she wanted to live for many more years. Jason was not sure what he would do -- because he liked his grandmother a lot, but also wished to live a lot more.

 

The people were being sent every day to the other planet -- by that year, there were about 10,5 million people on Earth, and only 500 thousand could be taken by it each day. Vear then told her daughter and grandson that she would think a bit more, and give a proper reply in the following day.

 

Keyla was desperate to go to the other planet -- she had heard that there was a magical powder, which could only be found in there that could give some special powers to the people. She was a bit selfish, and actually would go alone, even if the rest of her family refused to go.

 

Vear was still deciding, but it would be truly painful for her to leave all her memories and dead family behind. She loved them so much, and once she went to the other planet, there was no way to come back -- at least that was what they had informed the people on the TV.

 

Jason would follow his grandmother’s decision, even if it cost him his life -- he loved her so much -- more than his own mother. In the past, his mother had ‘abandoned’ him, because she left all the responsibility with her mother, and instead started to talk with to unknown people on her cell phone.

 

It was time to go to bed -- none of them could easily sleep. It took a while, because they stood a few hours thinking about what they would do in the following day. As the sun appeared, each one of them had decided what they would do now. They woke up almost at the same time, and decided to first have breakfast, before having the discussion where each one would say and defend why they thought that was better.

Chapter 2.2 - The Past

 

Keyla stood remembering her past while crying a bit, locked in her room. Vear decided to go to her room as well. She started remembering the old times -- and all the losses she had.

Forty years before, Vear married a man named Valyt, with whom she had Keyla. She did not have another son or daughter. Life was pretty hard at that time -- Vear had to work every day to get money for the family. Valyt got some jobs, but most of the time, in less than one month he was fired.

 

“He simply does not have luck with work, and I’ll be with him as long as I want” Vear said this to her dad, Filiph, during a conversation in which he asked her why she was still married to a ‘loser’ like Valyt.

 

When Vear was forty-four, she and Valyt had a terrible discussion. Vear was very beautiful, and Valyt was very jealous of her. He could not stand seeing her with other man, or he’d be able to do anything -- even start a fight and probably kill whoever was with her.

 

“You’re going out with your boss, aren’t you?” Valyt said.

“No -- I’d never betray you.” Vear said.

“You’re lying -- You’re just a ---” Valyt said.

“I don’t want to live with you anymore. I hate you! Go away! I’ve been bearing with you all these years because of my daughter... But you keep calling me bad things, and simply can’t believe that you’re the only one I love... It’s too late now. Sorry, but this is my limit.” Vear replied.

“What? You can’t mean that...” Valyt replied.

“I MEAN IT. I simply can’t bear with you anymore! Please, for the love of God, go away! You’ll be able to see your daughter whenever you want, but go live with your mother -- that poisonous snake!” Vear said.

 

The reason for why she called Valyt’s mother that was because she hated Vear, and had tried every thing to separate them. She even kidnapped Valyt one year after he and Vear married -- and said that he did not want to live with her anymore. But later, Vear managed to find him, and everything turned out fine. Valyt’s mother did not even go to their marriage.

 

“Mom, I’m not a kid anymore. I’m a man. I can be with whoever I want! I love Vear. She’s the woman of my life. I won’t let you interfere.” Valyt said.

“Follow that, and you’ll see -- I’ll go to the cemetery, to bury you.” Valyt’s mother replied.

“What? How dare you say that, mom? You’re an idiot, fool. I want you to go to the he---” Valyt was interrupted because two men, contracted by Valyt’s mother put something on his nose, so he fell asleep, poisoned. And that was how she managed to kidnap him.

 

Valyt’s mother was right about going to the cemetery -- to bury him. When Keyla was fourteen-years old, about to turn fifteen, Valyt had a heart attack, and died in the hospital. He and Vear were about to be together again, and were preparing a big party to Keyla, but destiny simply did not want to let that happen.

 

Everyone stood very sad, and Keyla almost entered in a depression. Vear was shocked -- and cried much after Valyt was buried. Another loved one had left her. She had already lost a brother. When she was twenty-three, her younger brother, named Ronald, died with seventeen-years old, in a car crash.

 

It was her first loss -- she felt a sadness that she had never felt before. Her hear lost a small piece, which would never return. She felt empty -- something that she had never felt before.

 

In the year that Jason was born, Vear’s mother died -- because of cigarettes -- she was completely addicted to it. After Ronald’s death, she started to use it to block the past. It was like a therapy to her. Without cigarettes, all of these painful memories would return, and a deep sadness would take over her.

 

Her lung was seriously affected, and she couldn’t breath well anymore. That’s the reason for why she died. She had always said that she would die with seventy-years old -- and that’s what eventually happened. She died on December 16th, and Vear’s birthday was very near -- on December 25th. It was the saddest Christmas she ever had -- and the first without her mother.

 

She had many more losses -- but these were the most important ones. Just like Keyla, she started crying -- but because she knew she would probably have to left all her past behind, and never see her family’s grave anymore.

 

Jason was the only one that remained in the Living Room. Differently from his grandmother, he wanted to start a new life in the new planet -- as his life on Earth had not been very good.

 

At school, he was the smartest, and so most of people had envy of his intelligence -- all the teachers complimented him, and said that his future would surely be brilliant. He was shy, but beautiful. Had brown eyes, short straight hair. Although only a small number of girls actually felt something for him.

 

He loved to stay on the internet, and loved his internet friends. His friends from real life were just idiots, at least at his point of view.

 

Going to the new planet would mean a chance to restart his life. Make new friends, meet new people, and who knows? Maybe even find the magical powder, and become a very famous and known person. He wanted the world to know him. He had a lot of interests, but was not capable of doing anything to accomplish it.

 

He decided to go his room now. Each one of them slept well. For a few days, the relationship between the three of them was very strange. It was finally April 2nd, and the first 500 thousand people were about to go to the new Planet. This small family had to decide whether they would or not go. Now, they only had a few days to decide.

Now this is getting really sad and i'm just waiting to see there decision...............

This it's such a sad story but very interesting I wonder what will be their decision.
