Do you believe in Global Warming and/or do you support preventing it?

Posted

Simple.

1) Do you believe in Global Warming? Give an explanation why or why not.

2) Do you support preventing Global Warming? For example, do you support trying to prevent Global Warming. Explain why or why not.

It's an interesting idea and I'd like to know what you all think about it. Theres a lot of environmental problems that has happened in the world.

For example, the Aral Sea.

Also a possible New Ice Age, and the last one lasted 70,000 years long.

Also the Arctic Sea which lost so much ice right now:

the guy who suggested global warming lied

The guy who created the theory (Svante Arrhenius) or the one who made it publicized (Al Gore)?

I do, what with all the air pollution being given off by cars, factories, ect. Don't we have like a huge hole in are ozone layer?

I'm not really sure what to believe theres like tons of things that support it being real, and some that say it's not.

Yes, I do think that global warming is real, and that humans do contribute to it a bit more than we'd like to admit.  Like _The Door To Light_ said, it is important that we take care of our planet, since we're kind of stuck here.

I don't know one way or the other. I do know, however, that Global Warming isn't the only reason for environmental protection. It doesn't matter if the planet is getting warmer or not, we should still start using "green" energy, lower chemical emissions going into the air, not litter, etc. Melting all the ice and causing major sea level raises isn't the only way we could "kill" our planet. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, not believing in Global Warming is a terrible reason to not support environmental protection, as there are plenty of other reason to do so.

Of course, if it turns out to be real and human caused, then we will already be actively attempting to prevent it anyway.

EDIT:

Also

Whoever believes in it is a liberal, media-controlled, idiotic twit like gurshhhhhhh.

lulz xD

Yes, Yes and Yes. That was easy.

Ozone is very small compared to what it has been. Also there seems to be hole somewhere (can't remember if it was on north- or southpole)

I believe on global warming, it's pretty easy to see when you go outside: On this time of year there should be like ton of snow, but now there is just so small layer of it that it barely covers the ground. The amount of rain in summer has drastically gone up during the last years.

I'm also pretty confident that humans are the biggest reason of global warming. We are the only ones who pollute more than we really need to and we have invented all the machines that are polluting the air.

Best way to prevent global warming would be the downgrading mutually the use of cars, planes, boats etc and putting more focus on ecological fuels.

There are usually warm periods of time before an ice age. i guess i kind of believe it

With all of the bipolar weather going on, of course there has to be global warming.

Yeah and all the storms and weather events we have been getting have been much worse. Also all of these storms are completely weird in both tracking and how and when they form.

2011 Winter Season is an example in your cause.

The storms during the Summer have gotten much worse (Also October with Sandy)

The drought in USA was really bad, not even a hurricane will be enough to make a dent in it.

This really isn't a "do you believe in it" kind of thing. xD It's scientifically proven, and really can't be disputed.

Yes, we should try to stop it from getting any worse, but maybe not do any repair work. At some point (though it probably wouldn't have been for quite a long time past now) the hole would have opened up anyway. We might as well let nature take its course imo.

No, no and firetruck no.

Global Warming is a lie to promote and fund the liberal agenda. The only reason why the average joe even knows about the theory is because Al-Gore (defender of humanity, god of mankind, and inventor of the internet) created a documentary so he could ironically pay for is private jet.

Stop buying the media garbage and your teacher's lies. Here are actual facts on Global Warming

Temperatures are falling, ice caps are not melting, most snow since 1966. http://www.wtvy.com/weather/headlines/36970994.html

I'm usually the first to laugh at conspiracy theorist, but this is a hoax on a grand scale and people who passively accept what they hear as truth are only feeding it. Just because somebody is in politics, wrote a book, or is on TV doesn't mean they have any freaking clue what they are talking about or that they are telling the truth.

Human's aren't as big and powerful as we think we are. We lack both the technology and manpower to cause a drastic change in the planet's climate with our daily lives. The only thing that we can actually do to change the climate is creating a miniature ice age through use of nuclear weapons aka a "nuclear winter".

Also, get rid of the idea that pollution=climate change. They are two completely different issues. They are just tied together a lot because people will be more likely to believe your bullcrap if they feel they are responsible for something bad happening. Pollution is a major issue, but it has an extremely minimal affect on the climate in it's current state. The only way pollution could heavily affect the climate is by causing a drastic loss in bio-diversity which can happen and has happened before however we are not on that road and haven't been since the industrial revolution.

Stop letting power/money hungry assholes control your life with one of the biggest lies ever told. I am all for the creation of clean and efficient energy and reduction of pollution, but for the love of everything that is good don't do it because of a hoax, do it because it's something that will be of benefit.

... you need more options. Global Warming is bigger than just yes or no.

i believe global warming -- if it is real --is more natural than it is "human caused."

And one thing that always bugged me about Global Warming, is all the fear-mongering of the oceans rising, and then Al Gore goes and buys a Beach House in Florida. I don't know about you, but I find that to be ironic.

Also, read the book, State of Fear. Makes the theory just a little bit harder to believe. And... the whole thing of green energy, not that it's necessarily bad or anything, it just reminds me a little of the UN's Agenda 21, and that's just freaky!

That's what i'm a bit iffy about.

Temperatures seem to be falling, that I know of. Yet the Arctic is melting (mainly because of an Arctic storm this year) and the most recent winter season (2011 - 2012) was kind of unactive. It was much warmer than it's supposed to be at times.

(I'm so confused... the way the quote appears looks different and there's no brackets)

The thing about Al Gore and the beach house xD

I agree.  Although humans might impact it some, I don't think it affects it as drastically as some people claim.  Just think about the amount of smoke and debris that was sent into the air when Eyjafjallajokull erupted in Europe in 2010.

It was a LOT.

You can't really make concrete claims like that when you don't have proof of it, especially when you're using biased media outlets in your counter argument.

The temperatures falling doesn't actually dispute global warming. Global warming simply increases the average temperature of the planet--but not necessarily everywhere. So global warming can actually cause weather on both extremes--hot and cold.

So far, the planet's climate has not changed drastically from human impact. Most activists trying to stop global warming aren't saying we're currently at a dire point, but over time, we will get there. Even if we lived in a world where cars and big business only produced the tiniest fraction of a wisp of carbon monoxide, eventually that would build up, and would over time would help expand the hole. (I know it's not really a hole, but is more of a thinning, but a hole is easier to explain, so I'm just going to refer to it that way.) Maybe not all pollution equates to environmental impact, but a lot of it sure does.

Those two are similar things.

Media uses Global Warming.

The Scientific word is Climate Change.

How can someone not "believe" in GW? ó_O

My teachers would have laughed at me if I ever said that "I do not believe in GW"

I do not know how strong it is but it is a proven fact that GW exists.

I think it's not as big as the media wants us to believe. I also think the Earth itself passes through this process after a certain amount of time, but we humans are sure making it worse than it should be.

If you want a good source on Climate Change, here you go.

This article has good references, contact information, and authors, not to mention it is a credible website.

Usually a good sign if you are looking for trustworthy information.

obviously, the global warming born from our mistakes, and that is the answer of yes and no....

  • 2 weeks later...

The Earth and it's climate has been constantly changing ever since the creation of the Earth. What we call "Global Warming" is no different.
