Kirito 52 Posted January 11, 2013 So has any body else notice that as the Kingdom Hearts series goes on sora loses intelligence with each game?

_The Door To Light_ 1,507 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) BLAME NAMINE! Yeah, Sora's a great character and friend, but I feel like being asleep for a year has affected him. :I Edited January 11, 2013 by _The Door To Light_
Caity 3,946 Posted January 11, 2013 Near the start he seems like someone capable of putting two and two together. Then when more characters are brought in, basically try to show how much more understanding they have and how naive Sora is in comparison, unfortunately this results in Sora coming off as progressing backwards mentally. 4 hatok, Robbie the Wise, Rob and 1 other reacted to this

Kirito 52 Posted January 11, 2013 When Sora stepped out of the pod and started dancing in circles with Donald and Goofy, I kind of lost my hope in him ever improving... When he started doing that, the whole time I was all ".........okay?"
aaronarrgh 41 Posted January 11, 2013 Nope, I've never thought about that or questioned it. If we were to question anyone's intelligence, I would question Terra, Ven, and Aqua.
AntonioKHT 449 Posted January 11, 2013 Yeah it's kinda true. And they tend to make him sillier when he's with Riku. When I played Re:CoM, I was a little annoyed at Sora. I was OK with the KH2 one, but he was much worse in KH3D... Fortunately enough, Sora is serious when he needs to be. He's not naive to be fooled by enemies, and I think that shows that he's like that when around friends. Probably the reason while he was more serious in KH1 because he had just met Donald and Goofy. If you look it that way it kinda makes sense 1 Rob reacted to this
khoathkeeper13 429 Posted January 11, 2013 I think KH2 Sora is fine, but Nomura for some reason likes putting Sora back into his awkward stage. Nope, I've never thought about that or questioned it. If we were to question anyone's intelligence, I would question Terra, Ven, and Aqua. What did they do that would have you question their intelligence? ventusxxx34 23 Posted January 11, 2013 In KH3D I found he just trusts nearly anybody but when it comes to Xemnas and all that he is quite serious but the point where those guards in The Grid touch Sora he's like "That's not friendly" I was laughing quite a bit, also that way he acts toward Riku near the end I was thinking both "awww! :3" and "Sora's gone mad again ^_^" So I believe that Sora is insane! I agree it's just another example of Nomura developing other characters at Sora's expense. 5 Rob, Wisdomform, OthersiderME and 2 others reacted to this
WakelessDream 2,297 Posted January 11, 2013 Maybe Namine rearranged the memory that was Sora's ability to think logically haha and replaced it with Sora being a total derpface. Just like it says in the jiminy journal when he wakes up "Thank Namine"
Wisdomform 221 Posted January 11, 2013 I blame Donald and Goofy, you too would question your intelligence if you spent all your time with talking animals.... That aside his intelligence I think is based on how "innocent" he is, and character development.
aaronarrgh 41 Posted January 11, 2013 I agree it's just another example of Nomura developing other characters at Sora's expense. I was about to say the same thing. The most obvious character developments are seen in Riku and Axel/Lea. Well in KH1, there's more of a drive for Sora to get things done, whereas in KH2, Sora gets vague hints of where to go. Dracozombie 4,554 Posted January 11, 2013 At times he's a bit much even for me. I liked him in KH1 and 2, but he was on his period in CoM and in 3D, they ramped his cheerfulness up to eleven at the expense of his intelligence. I let it slide, though, because he gets things done in the end, and has enough serious moments to let us know that, yes, he will get things done because he's Sora. But, who Sora is changes a bit from game to game...

aaronarrgh 41 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) That and how much school is he missing? The only characters seen going to school are Kairi and Selphie. Edited January 11, 2013 by aaronarrgh
PikachukeybladeMaster 40 Posted January 11, 2013 Sora, as Sora, isn't stupid. I actually think he's decently smart, despite missing so much school. It's just, and now I'm going to sound like a derp, but he doesn't apply himself. Everyone around him is so much smarter/knows what's going on, so he just let's them do their thing and looks dumber because of it. Like one common misconception is that Sora doesn't know how to use a computer. In KH2 it clearly shows he does. Sora's intelligence level needs more credit. Hoshiko Hikari 306 Posted January 11, 2013 Yes he does seem to be very slow at times doesn't he. Sometimes it makes you wonder how he's actually managed to survive this long. Though I think it's a cute quirk of his that makes for lots of funny moments in the games to balance out the serious ones. Joshua sums him up very well when he says, "I appreciate the conviction with which you say that Sora, even though you have no idea what you're talking about." 1 griann reacted to this

But he can only type very slowly with one finger at a time and when the computer doesn't respond he just smashes the keyboard. You couldn't exactly call him a computer expert could you? ^_^ But still you're right, he does deserve more credit.
Qrow 86 Posted January 11, 2013 What did they do that would have you question their intelligence? aaahn...first Terra trusted Master Xehanort...you should never trust an old bald and with an evil laugh man...Ventus is kinda naive, just like Sora and Aqua...ok...Aqua is smart, I really like her! Ruran 481 Posted January 11, 2013 His intelligence does seem to have gone down steadily since CoM and it can be irritating. At first he was naive, but relatively smart, and eager to learn, even telling Ansem SoD how he was going to get out there and learn stuff fitting in with the theme that to better your self you have to actively expand your horizons. Exploring other worlds and gaining more experience actually has seemed to...have had an opposite effect on Sora. I couldn't take him seriously at all in KH2 when he'd have his moments that made me wounder how he dressed him self (oh wait, he didn't. Never mind...) then 3D Sora seemed incapable of even simple critical thinking. At this rate Sora will be infantile by KH3.
