the PS4 was announced yesterday and will be seen today in New York. but it will be released sometime by Christmas, and i don't know about you but I'm excited for it. it could be the system for KH4 and up. and I'm not sure but this could be the controller for it:

You're going by the logic that the next Xbox will be better just because it might get released last?

It's just the right time, we've had the Ps3 for about 6 years now. That's a good run for a console, and they will still be supporting it till 2015.

Yeah but usually half way through a consoles life cycle, the next console is introduced Happened with Ps1, happened with Ps2, now it looks like it happening with Ps3.

Exactly, I think most are saying it's to early because either they just got one or idk.

Sony needs to make up the losses they suffered during the lifespan of the PS3. This new console will either save or kill Sony's console development department. There were rumors originally that Sony wasn't going to jump in with the new generation of consoles, due to the fact that the PS3 was severely outclassed by the 360.

 

What Sony needs to do with this new console is to release good titles on a regular basis. work with game devs to make sure they have great titles from the get-go, and cruise through until the next gen by making sure the games they release are of great quality or better. They also need to re-aquire the exclusives they once had. Keep Metal Gear on Playstation. Keep Final Fantasy on Playstation. The only reason I see that those two franchises also built for the 360 is because everyone already has a 360, because it did so much better in sales. I can almost guarantee that if Kingdom Hearts 3 would've come out during this gen, that it would've come out for 360 as well as the PS3, for the sole fact stated above.

 

I want to see Sony make a comeback. They were a defining standard for consoles for a really long time, and I can still remember how excited I was when I got my PSone. I want that excitement to return. Come on, Sony, you can do it.

That said, it is too early for me personally. I have too much left to play on the PS3, so unless it's backwards compatible I don't have a lot of motivation to buy a PS4. Yet...

Same here, I'll probably keep playing PS3 games I haven't gotten around to playing until a slim PS4 model is released.

How do you feel about the PS4 that just got announced?

 

For me, I don't know what to say really. I mean i'm gld Sony has finally announced its next gen console but at the same time I feel like i just wased all my money on my PS3 that i got 2 years ago lol. Plus, the fact that I'm gettinga  Wii u in a couple of days lol. Now i don't know weather to just keep my money for the PS4 or just get the Wii u now while the getting is good.

I'm actually hyped though still surprised a good percentage of that audience is like "no".

Still hope it will have a good lineup and wont be THAT costly.

I'm surprised it's the Playstation 4. Sony boasted the Playstation 3 would be enough for another two or three years. I guess pressure from their fans and/or the threat of being left in the dust by Nintendo and Microsoft got to them. 

 

Looks like Microsoft decided to play the waiting game this time around. I have a feeling they are waiting for Sony to release specifications on the Playstation 4 so they can top it. The main selling point on the Playstation 3 was the Blu-ray and processing power. While the Xbox 360 ultimately sold more, the PS3 was still a major competitor.
