Only the ones which are meant to be realistic and are loaded with unneeded blood and gore, and only really because kids play these types of games.

Not really. Then again I played M games with blood when I was eight.

I don't really play that many games with that much violence, I think the only violent games I have are the God of War games. BioShock, Assassin's Creed, and Dead Space are pretty bloody sometimes but not that bad, no I'm not really all the surprised in the violence of games because I don't think they are really that violent honestly

I don't mind. As long as it's a good game, I don't care.

No.

I don't really care. If I like the game then I like the game, I'm not influenced by the amount of violence. I hate when people blame violence on video games.

I find most violent and bloody games not as fun as what I usually play

but it's not disturbing at all

Am I personally disturbed? No. But, I do think the amount of violence in games does say something about our culture's fascination with violence in general.

I dont really care much for the blood and gore stuff, all I care is if the game is good, or not. However, I still live in my parents house, so I have to tone it done a little (For example: Dead Island).

I don't mind it at all. The only problem is that some parents blame video games for having too much violence and blood when it's their responsibility to allow what their kids should play.

Not really. Just a few but it isn't a situation where every game is violent. The amount isn't too bad. Realistic but isn't quite disturbing to me. Then again, I haven't seen much or played any highly violent games.

A lot of games have an unnecessary amount  of violence, though a few do it just right. Do we really need an engine so you can program a body to fall apart in twenty different ways, or gruesome kill cams that show bones breaking?

It depends. If it's violence for the sake of violence and shock factor (like, say, COD's famous airport level), then yes, I'm against that. However, I'm fine with pretty much anything else. Games are made for different age groups in mind, not just kids, and these violent games clearly sell, and are usually of good to amazing quality. Way I see it, I can't learn how to kick a soccer ball by playing FIFA, so I'm not going to learn how to parkour and handle an AK with one hand from Uncharted, so that whole arguement is debunked. Games are a form of entertainment, just like movies or anything else, and as long as people have a grip on what's real and what isn't, what's right and what's wrong, these games won't have an impact. And if they can't make that discertion, it wasn't the game that did it. As for people playing games not meant for them (ex. an 8 year old playing COD), that's absolutely not something that should be happening, but again, not the game's fault. It's up to parents to know what their children are playing. These parents are often buying kids M rated games without having any idea what they're spending their money one, and when they find out, they blame the game. That's just lazy parenting skills.

TL;DR, I'm fine with violence in games for the most part, and all these claims that game violence causes real violence, and kids are being exposed to horrific things because of video games, are bull.

Nah. I don't care if there's blood and gore or not. If it's a good game, I play it.

I don't really care since I'm not into those kind of games (I'm more of an RPGer).

The only thing that bothers me is when people complain that games are too violent and kids shouldn't be playing them when there are games out there that aren't violent. Does hitting things and "people" with blunt weapons count?

I don't mind, but then again most of the games I play aren't super violent. However, they all do have some element of violence in them, which is another whole discussion altogether.

I do think that this question is going to come up again as the next generation launches, and for the first time I'm wondering how much gore/violence is too much. Will the next level of photorealistic graphics encourage more violence, or will the visceral depiction of the acts start to turn more people off? I'm truly curious to see what happens.

In all honisty, it really does disturb me. I kinda wish it disturbed others more...the fact that it doesn't seem to also disturbs me....

Not that I can't play games at all. But...

:(

this thread was making me start to think kh13 was...kind of evil....... :(

Nope.

Not really, its not disturbing to me. showing a certain amount of violence in a game makes it more realistic.

I don't mind if the game is violent. I'm not the type of person that plays games like GTA and CoD to begin with but Dragon Age and Kingdoms of Amalur had its fair share of blood everywhere and I didn't mind.

Madworld was probably the only insanely violent game I played and that stuff was awesome.
