Square Enix Reveals Why Kingdom Hearts III And Final Fantasy XV Won’t Be Coming To Wii U

Posted

Square Enix has revealed exactly why the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3 and

won’t be coming to the platform. The development studio says that both games won’t be coming to Wii U as they use DirectX 11 which isn’t compatible with the console. The team said that Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 is being developed using DirectX 11, so porting between Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One would be easy .

I always knew from day one that the Wii U wouldn't get Kingdom Hearts 3. It may be a next gen console, but it's graphics are on par with the PS3, and not capable of much more.

Inb4 Nintendo fans rage.

Ok I'll forgive Square for this (Note: I have PS3 Ps2 Wii Wii U PsP DS 3DS)

but they better give us  Wii U version of the 2.5HD collection with Dread Drop Distance,KH2 and BBS in it.

Well considering the Wii U is only slightly better with the PS3, I expected this.

That reasoning makes sense to me.

I dunno...the remixes are partially being done in order to prepare people for KHIII. If there aren't any immediate plans to bring the game to the Wii U, I don't know why they'd put 2.5 on it. Hope springs eternal though.

They'll put it because Dream Drop Distance had a huge touchscreen support in the 3DS so having a Wii U version of KH3D makes a lot of sense.

And even if KH3 isn't coming to Wii U that isn't an excuse to prevent Nintendo fans who loved the series through handheld to miss out on KH2 and Birth by Sleep.

That would make for the fact that there isn't a KH3 for Wii U

I stopped caring recently. I might just buy the game and ask a friend to lend me a PS4. Not wasting 400$+ for 1 game.

This is as surprising as the news of Sony outselling microsoft on the PS4 vs XBONE sales.

It isn't the power of the Wii U that's halting KH3 and FFXIV, though.  It's the engine.  It would take too much effort and money to reprogram the same game into an engine that the Wii U does run, although it's technically possible.  Whereas the difference between the PS4 and Xbox One is smaller, since they both can run DirectX 11.

The differences in PS4/Xbox One is not a reason.  This form title should be Square reveals why there are no immediate plans to port KH3 to Wii U.  The story's information comes from a second hand source, so some information might be wrong.  The hardware difference between PS2 and PS3 forced them to develop KH 1.5 HD from scratch.  Theoretically, they could do the same thing for KH3 from PS4 to Wii U, although the graphics might suffer some.

Plus, never trust what companies say.  If the money is there, they will do it.  Capcom said that there were no plans to port Okami to Wii, but they did.  The Operation Rainfall campaign convinced Nintendo to release three RPGs in NA.  If Square thinks that the return on investment for porting KH3 to Wii U is good, then there is a good chance it will happen, although a good while after the original release.

I always said it's all about the money and it always will be

Once they see sales, they'll figure a way out to port the game to the console once the sales increases

All it takes that if Dragon Quest X(If it got released outside Japan),if the Wii U version that they've announced for Dragon Quest got high sales on Wii U,they would do everything to use this chance to port profitable projects like KH3 since the KH series was doing well on DS and 3DS.

It's just a matter of sales.

However if they can't do a port.At least they should make a Wii U version of the 2.5 collection for the reasons I already stated many times

What Metal Snake and Roxas Illini said. They'll do it from scratch if they get money out of it (They NEED money), and there are definitely a lot of Nintendo fans who want at least KHIII on Wii U. And for everyone saying Wii U couldn't handle it, look at Monolith Soft's new game coming for Wii U.

and pretty much none of you read that iv said it ever time someone has brung up the kh3 to wii u thing he said it at there confrence during e3 that it well be on any counsel that uses direct x 11 if it doenst use it they said its not getting the game so just get over it all ready

Read this last week. Twas expected.

Wii U's just not up to scratch.

Xenoblade was one of the most beautiful and well made games!  The graphics were so good, that it is kind of hard to believe that it was done with Wii's power.  Since Monolith Soft's new game looks amazing, I would be surprised if a potential KH3 port's graphic would not be close to par with the PS4/Xbox One version.

Not only Monolith Soft's game, look at Bayonetta 2 as well, as both are Wii U exclusive and look amazing.

I also think the HD remake of Wind Waker looks stunning.

I think there are many FF fans on this site who still have a bad taste from the Square-Nintendo feud that started with Nintendo's decision to go with cartridges on the N64 instead of the slower but higher capacity and cheaper to manufacture CDs.  They still have not forgiven Nintendo, even though it seems that Square Enix has.

Now people can stop asking for it for Wii U.

Sorry guys, just get a Playstation 4.

Well they could remake past Final Fantasy games for the Wii U, and 3DS, and make spin-off kingdom hearts games for the Wii U.
