I am a HUGE Kingdom Hearts fan, it is my childhood! I currently own a PS2. This year inSeptember, KH HD 1.5 Remix, which includes Kingdom Hearts (Final Mix),Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories and KH 358/2 Days scenes [ALL HAVEBEEN REMASTERED IN HD]. I was so excited and ccertain I was going to get aPS3 for the game. Until just a few weeks ago, KHIII was officiallyannounced. I was disappointed to find out that it's only for PS4 andXBox One. (Xbox One is NOT an option for me.)Problems:1. I get a PS3 - I can't play KH3 at least a year after it's been released.2. I get a PS4 - I can't play KH 1.5 HD Remix. ever.3. PS4 is not backwards compatible.4. I get a PS4 - KH 2.5 HD Remix is expected to be released after 1.5 (I miss out on more)5. I get a PS4 - I have to wait quite sometime before KH3.6 I get a PS4 - (Hoping there will be something called 'Gai-Kai to stream the game/ Not sure)

I believe the PS4 will have PS3 game streaming, so you could possibly download some PS3 titles maybe, so perhaps getting a PS4 will be a good idea, however KH3 will not come out possibly for like 2 years so it's a long wait and by that time I guess you will have money for both. And yes, I'm guessing the PS3 will be around in 2015, heck the PS2 is getting its last game this year.

Actually 2015 is more likely considering they wanna release a game each year.

If you have all the other kh games too and you're not really interested in some other ps3 games, I would only buy ps4 if I was you. And I wouldn't buy it right away but when KH3 release is closer so the price will be better. KH3 is still a whole new game and 1.5 and 2.5 are not. Also, like Geotrix said, it might be possible to buy ps3 games to ps4 online too. And maybe it would be possible to buy an actual ps3 later too. But of course everything depends on what is most important to you and how much money you have.

Wait until the PS4 is released.  I know you're really excited for the remake, but we won't know everything about what the system can do until it's out. Right now Sony is saying there is a possibility to emulate past games on the PS4 but won't give out anymore info on it.  We may not find out until release or close to it.  And if there is nothing, at least the PS3 price will probably drop with the PS4 release.

You might aswell get the PS4 if you can afford it.

KH3 is still in the early stages of development, you should get a PS3 this year for the Remixes (and PS3s are vastly down in price with the PS4 coming out this year), by the time KH3 comes out (earliest date is 2015, if not later) PS4's will be a little bit down in price (the initial trendsetter period will be over (which is the period in which companies release a product at a very high price cause they know "trendsetters" will buy them, gradually over time the price is reduced to attract bargainers, and over the 2 years since it's release hardware bugs and glitches could be smoothed out).  

You should get a PS3 so you can experience the Remastered games, and then wait for a PS4 bundle of KH3 to come out so you can get your hands on it. And I'm pretty sure the PS3 will still be around, since Sony's consoles tend to have 10 year lifespans. But in the end it's all up to you. It's your choice and your money. ^_^

If you're low on money I would say wait a little while after the ps4 is released and try to buy it used. By then kingdom hearts should be released or will be releasing soon. If you have cash to spend I would tell you to get both. You can find a pretty cheap ps3 that's in mint condition on ebay. After you're done playing 1.5 I would sell the ps3 and start saving up for a ps4.

I'm not buying a ps4 until I see a release date for kh3.

I'd get the PS3 because KH3 won't be out for awhile. And then by the time it is out they might have a better version of the PS4 which you could get then.

Dude, trust me. KH3 won't be out for a loooooong time. Just get a PS3. Wait for a price drop if you want to. I myself won't be getting a PS4 until FFXV or KH3 come out.

Unless if a PS4 can play disc based PS3 games, I would say what others are saying, if you want a PS3 get it and then get a PS4 a couple years from now when its price drops.

Hmmm, I would probably choose Playstation 4 and just play ps3 games on Gaikai. But only the Playstation 4 if I'm getting it within half a year.

I'm doing the same exact thing. Get a PS3 and play KH 1.5

At the other side I read that there will be 1000available titles for the PS3 on the cloud.

So 1.5 will probably be there but you can't play discs. But the disc is one of the best of PS3 games I have ever seen.

This is what I'd do. I expect KH2.5 will probably be on PS3(and maybe PS4), and like Sora said KH3 will be released 2015 AT EARLIEST, but i expect 2016.

 

Sure, doing so might put you out of money for a few months and you'll have to eat nothing but ramen and beans during that downtime, but it'll be worth it. KH, man.

PS3. Get cheap games that've been out for awhile that are AMAZING. And itll give you something to do while waiting for the price to drop on PS4. Plus you get the HD remixes, AND THE FM'S. Nomura said in an interview he didnt think of having the HD Remixws on Gaikai for PS4, so get PS3 so you can get the final mixes.
