Would you like a more "mature" Pokemon anime?

Posted

Now, when I say mature, I don't mean blood, gore, swearing, or those. I mean a deeper plot, more combat, and more action. Just clarifying. xD

So, I was a HUGE fan of the Pokemon anime as a kid. I loved following the adventures of Ash and his friends. However, in the middle of Sinnoh, I realized... I didn't like the Sinnoh arc. I eventually quit watching anything after Battle Frontier. Ash's constant reset on his skills bugged me, the new voices weren't very good, and the plot stopped being as interesting. It just seemed to become more geared towards children. So, as a result, a certain thought's crossed my mind from time to time. What if they made a more mature version of the anime? I mean mature as a deeper plot, action, and character development, not gore or swearing. Something geared towards the older audience. It wouldn't have to be less kid friendly, just have those aspects I listed earlier. One other thing I'd like to see in another series is a new protagonist. Like I said before, Ash just kinda seemed unlikable after Battle Frontier. I'd love to see the protagonists of the games it's based off of become the heroes. Anyone else remember that anime-style trailer for the Black 2 and White 2 games? I think something more in that style, with a deeper plot, would be awesome!

So, would you guys like to see that, or not? Heck, it could run simultaneously with Ash's adventures. It's just something I'd like to see, and I was curious who else did, too.

I want an anime based of him not just manga

Yes, I've stopped watching the Pokemon "anime" after watching one episode of Pokemon Black and White and seeing Pikachu get owned by a weak Snivy.

I would love that, give it a darker plot, like something Gen IV dark for plot, and the stuff you mentioned and gold.

yeswe need upskirts of Dawn

There's hentai for that.

I want Ash to grow up. 800 or so episodes and Ash is still a ten-year-old boy. I want Pikachu to stop becoming weak, for firetruck sake he defeated a very power Dragonite in the Orange Islands when I was a kid....

I think Pokemon desperately needs something new!

I mean the games are always so unique and cool... always trying new things and working up creative plots, and I think it works since each group of games is in its own continuity.

I mean the anime does that continuity thing aswell, but it's just that it doesn't work.

You can understand in the games that the characters are always different, but with the anime they change continuities WHILE keeping the characters. So... it's not really too watchable knowing that the characters don't have any room for change knowing that they're just gonna revert to their vapid undeveloped self, so it sucks.

If the anime was based on the games more that would be AWESOME! And it would work. The characters WILL be ditched for sure so it's safe to let them grow over the span of their story. They can be risky and each season would have its own theme... maybe it would be a bit of an obscure series only long time players of the games would understand.

I think they just need to do something new with its plot,I dont think it needs to be mature to do so,just making a new better story would be nice

I think something different would be nice...No ash, or any characters that we known. A new character and all that jazz would be neat with the deeper plots that you mention.

I'd like that very much. I don't watch the Pokemon anime so much anymore because it's gotten more for kids than it was before, so I stick to the games. Pokemon White had to be my favorite, because the story and characters were more mature.

Yes,that would be good.Hopefully if they do ever make one,It could be similar to how good the digimon anime was(imo).

I think after they finish black and white they should either go to X and Y with new characters, or the legendary trainer Red.

No, I like the "we entertain kids" style.

We need an anime adaptation of the Pokemon Adventure Manga

Believe me,Pokemon Adventure is much much more mature than the anime without being too dark.

There are a lot of battles,Team Rocket is actually threatening this time, some trainers and Pokemons die throughout the story.....and Red is A FREAKIN BADASS

Please guys, anyone who didn't have the chance to read the manga, please read it.

it's an absolute fun and blast for any Pokemon fan

They can do it without stopping the current anime of Ash's adventure....both can air simontaneously and appeal to all fans.

Even if all of us hate Ash,we can't deny that there is an audience that enjoy his adventures in the anime.

I just wanted to clarify that when I meant an adaptation of Pokemon Adventure,I didn't mean taking down the original anime

I wouldnt mind.

I mean I HAVE to accept, WE HAVE to accept, but the anime REALLY DID GO DOWNHILL AFTER HOENN. No matter how you try to reason with that, it's just the firetrucking truth.

Like OP and all the several other repliers, I'd love to see a B/W2 protag if there be a 'mature' version of the anime. I just dont mind if its childish but urf curz a level 80 pikachu loosing to a level 5 snivy is totally legit bro. Also thumbs for 25 year old Ash cameo.

Really?

This "We entertain kids" style's been going for too long, and tbh, it makes us hardcore fans to be ashamed of it.

I agree that the show needs more mature content, for example: a deeper plot, older characters, and such.

Make that 3. I'm surprised people still like the same repetitive stuff going on. Heck the BW saga tried too hard to be like the Kanto saga. (Once I saw glasses, I'm like "seriously?")Like I said before, something among the lines of the BW 2 promo. I would have loved to see BW 1's protagonists.

That's something I'd really love to see. I got the "Best of Red" issue of Pokemon Adventures, and I loved it. The storyline was a lot deeper, more mature, and even a little dark at times. An adaptation, or at least something based off of, Pokemon Adventures would be awesome!

The more recent episodes have been going more downhill, and quit catering to all audiences. The series used to be about the rivalry between Ash and Gary, and Ash's goal to be a Pokemon master. That kind of stopped when Gary became a Pokemon professor and Ash's insanely overpowered Pokemon would lose to a Pokemon that was probably level 5. The older series had a lot more enjoyment, and a deeper plot than what there is now.

I kind of just want it to end, they've been repeating the same formula but worse each time since johto

That's why I'm saying that I'd like a series with a deeper plot and new protagonists. If they changed things up, and made a series that appealed to the older Pokemon fans, I think it could be quite successful.

And we still don't know whats inside the gs ball. It's probably celebi though

I miss the old Pokémon....

That's a plot point they pretty much forgot. I doubt they'll bring it back, either. Remember when Ash said he'd go back to get Pidgeot again? Unless I'm forgetting something, that was forgotten too... I just assume that the GS Ball is the same thing it was in the games, kind of like a key to find Celebi.

Well, there's always the internet if you'd like to see the new episodes. I still miss the days when the anime was still really fun to watch, though... The new games have still been just as good as the old ones, though.

Anime like Yu-Gi-Oh is also what I miss. I loved that show way back.
