seriously though, why do you people call it such a shitty franchise all the time and that its pointless to enjoy it?

I just don't care for it. That's the thing with me and the franchise. I don't care about if the franchise is good, or sucks, or even stops.

Because people have opinions?

I loved the anime, Sonic X and I've played a lot of Sonic games I can just never seem to try and finish them.

Because they've had consistently terrible games even back to the Genesis era.

I understand hate on certain games (Sonic '06) but some games, I don't. (Sonic 3k, Sonic Generations, etc) I guess everyone has varying opinions. Just remember that other peoples opinions shouldn't trouble your own.

I actually like the Sonic franchise. I dont follow it well, but I know a few games and I enjoyed them, especially the ones on Dreamcast !

I thin its the fact that some of the recent games have been pretty bad and disappointing but its always a classic franchise 

I don't care what anyone says, Sonic Unleashed was a great game...

 

Also, how people thought the Wii/PS2 version was better than the PS3/360 version is BEYOND me...

Sonic is a great franchise and no one can deny that....it's just.....Sonic 06 literally destroyed the reputation that this franchise used to have

 

Sure it might not seem that damaging to some,.....but you have no idea the collossal damage that Sonic 06 caused to the franchise...it's almost unbelievable

Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the black knight, sonic x, bad voice acting, tails, amy, ect

I've grown up with Sonic, but it's kind of like Mario to me. I've only played a few of their games over time, and only found a few I genuinely like. (I'm more of a Playstation guy) In Sonic's case, I prefer the older games over the newer ones, but still enjoy some of the new stuff. My favorite Sonic game is Sonic Generations simply because it combines all of that with a glorious soundtrack. It's a really terrific game for even a passing fan. 

 

But there are reasons to hate, or even despise it. For one, Sonic is kind of an asshole. For another, Sonic 06 is the worst videogame of the modern generation of gaming. One more, and my personal favorite, how disgustingly bad the fanbase is. (It's only just now been eclipsed by the MLP fanbase) Ever since I watched one of aKnotholeResident's videos, I've consciously tried to distance myself from the whole thing entirely.

 

In a nutshell, Sonic is a mish-mosh of terrible games, a terrible fanbase, and some inherent flaws that wouldn't be so bad if the other two problems didn't exist. It's starting to get it's legs back, though. See: Sonic Generations.

I like to think that I can have my own opinions on things, so if I say that sonic the hedgehog is a pathetic pile of horse Sh*$ then I can say that and that while the series had its moments, its continuation of deriving from its classic appeal  only made it worse and worse along with storylines that don't make a scrap of sense then I bealive im entitled to say so.

I just don't find the games to be very fun. The attempts at story that the series made were usually kinda bad, too, honestly. I don't really like the characters either, they kinda range from "okay" to "annoying". Guess I'm more of a Mario fan.

I love Sonic Adventure 2: Battle its in my top 5 favorite games of all time. I haven't found very much love for any other titles of the series besides Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog if that counts.

Sonic is cool, he is one of my favorite blue buddies from when I was a kid. I do no get much into the "story" I just take them in as enjoyable games, and play them purely for fun. People have their opinions, and if you think Sonic is cool then I am glad some goes if you do not, just respect those of both sides.

I dont think thats enough to beat the COD fanbase,once they send death threats to people on the dev teams simply for updating their game,thats just showing insanity.

Alrighty then... I don't speak for the entire fanbase here, but this is how I feel about it.

 

I used to be the biggest Sonic fan, but lately the game has been a hit or miss for me. More nisses than hits. I missed all the other characters having roles in the story like Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and even Sonic 06. As much as I like Sonic, I feel like he doesn't have a supporting cast anymore.

 

The latest game, Sonic Lost World? That game was really bad for me. Sonic games these days are mediocre, with a FEW good qualities.

 

Sonic also needs to go back to the more serious storylines. I can't take Sonic seriously anymore with characters like Chip, Orbot, Cubot, The Wisps, and The Deadly Six. Stop it, please.

 

I won't talk s*** about anyone who likes Sonic these days, but for me, it's been a fun ride. However, this is my stop. Time for me to get off this train. I'll buy another ticket when I see something I like. Til' then, I'm still a Sonic fan and I'll keep an eye open on the series.
