Do you try to play all of the games in a franchise?

Posted

When you get into a new series of games, do you try to play all of the games released to that franchises name, or do you keep it to strictly the numbered/important titles?

    • No, I only play what's readily available or important to the story of the series.

    • Depends on the series, sometimes it's easy to play all of the games, but sometimes it's impossible.

I intend to, but sometimes I'm not always able to or just don't want to get every game

If I really like it, then yeah. I might skip a few of the less important ones, but otherwise, I try to play them all.

I play whatever game in the series I want.

The Legend of Zelda is a perfect example of a game series, that is almost impossible to play all of them

Kingdom hearts is much easier but is still somewhat a challenge to follow.

Yes.

OH GOD, YES.

Don't you see? When I play a game I like, I start falling in love with it and at first its 1, then its 2, then next thing I know im buying other consoles for a game series and spending money to follow it and buy merchandise!

THATS HOW I GOT HERE! DONT YOU UNDERSTAND?! Im on KH13 because Kingdom Hearts pushed me straight into love!

Hi, Im Blossom and I'm a video game addict.

And I fall in love too easily...

I try to play all of them, but most of the time I ignore handheld games since I'm more of a console gamer.

All major.

FINAL FANTASY would be harder. With Zelda you just need Nintendo consoles.

For FINAL FANTASY, you're going to need PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox consoles.

Sora96 I do not play Final Fantasy. so I don't know

One day I will get into it, maybe

Just proving a point.

In Kingdom Hearts- yes

Final Fantasy- I'd be broke before I bought even a quarter of the games @.@

It depends on the series. KH I plan on playing every game that has importance to the story. Aside from KH X and Coded, since they made Re:Coded. Assassin's Creed I have played a few of the side handheld games, but I focus on the main console numbered games. Infamous, Darksiders, etc. I play them all because there are very few.

I try to, if it interests me: I try to play all the Dark Parables games, but most of the Mysterycasefiles got skipped.

So, my answer is: Depends.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever played evory game in a series (excluding perhaps franchises with only one or two installments), so no. I play only the games that seem worth purchasing, regardless of what franchise it's from. Sure, I'm more likely to play a game if it's from a franchise I enjoy, but that doesn't mean I'm automatically going to buy it.

It really depends on the series and whether or not I have enough cash. For example, with KH I would try to get as many of their games as possible.....but tell me to get every game in the FF series and I would be like lolwut.

I played every game in the kingdom hearts series, and final fantasy 7, and the world ends with you, for the sole fact that they relate to kingdom hearts. Not saying I didn't enjoy them as independent games though

KH, trying to finish ffxiii trilogy soon

If i get into a game series i desperately try to get all of them. For KH i'm only missing Coded/Re:Coded, but i can't find it anywhere

XIII trilogy isn't a franchise, it's apart of a massive one.

coded was terminated, you'll find Re:coded on Amazon.com or eBay.

I know. I'm not that stupid.

I try to play nearly all of the games in a series, when I like it.

I try to play all the games if I can.

Except if it's lame mobile/facebook spin-off stuff like for example, I love the Dragon Age franchise but I'd much rather read the books they release than play the terrible "pay-to-win" smartphone game they recently released or that game they released on facebook around the time of Dragon Age II.

Sometimes it's impossible to keep up with franchises that are very old, like Mario or Final Fantasy because you're always gonna miss a Japanese exclusive title or the title might be extremely rare to find in your respective region or you might not have the system to play certain games.

Uh...if HD remasters/remakes don't count, then I, at one point, had all the games in the KH franchise(I still don't have 1.5...or Re:CoM). I used to have Re:Coded, but I got rid of it because I wasn't that big on it...I now regret my decision...

Though the only other franchise I'd be willing to collect all the games in the franchise for is the .Hack franchise...which would require me to get the Japan exclusive releases...*sigh*

Well , I try to but ,yeah , I have never been able to play all the games from a series .

KH I tend to get every game with importance to the story, but like, if I have a copy of say, Re:COM on 1.5, I won't bother importing Re:COM original or buying the GBA version for the sake of just collecting them since I have that segment of the story.

Zelda is one i'm planning to do once I get a Wii U (since as of right now far as I know it's still  backwards compatible, so Wii Zelda games on it, and when the emulator sells the VC games, then Wii U -Hyrule Warriors- and Wii U Wind Waker, I have OoT 3D and MM on Project64) etccccccccccccccc.  Then there's also the older games that are on the eShop like Link's awakening.  Though I generally don't want Zelda II.

with FF I do have a few of their games (FFXIII, FFXIII-2, FFVII:Crisis Core, FF Dissidia, FFX-2) and I most likely will buy FFXIII-3 (Lightning Returns?) and the X/X-2 remaster but in general I'm not THAT into their games that I want to go out and spend an entire fortune trying to get the whole franchise.
