I feel like maybe Square Enix are lazy.

Recommended Posts

It's a sad thing to say as I respect the game company so much, however when it comes to the remix games for Kingdom Hearts I feel like they're lazy. I mean sure they hafta record scenes and animate new ones for the HD cinematic games and that apparently Kingdom Hearts Final Mix in 1.5 was remade from scratch. But I can't help but think that they let fans down by releasing the game to be exclusive for PS3, at the moment I have no problem with this too much as I'm able to use the PS3 system in my sisters room, but only when she's not home. Also the ps3 doesn't work on my TV but besides that point I think it's not really fair that Square don't consider changing a few things to appear on screen so they match with Xbox 360's controls so for example if t tells you to press O to jump on PS3 you can press B to jump on Xbox. Also It's annoying to know that KH3 is gonna be on both XBOX ONE and PS4 yet the HD remaster games are not. Fans will have a huge advantage to play the game more often and not have to spend money on a PS3.

My main question is, why can't Square Enix tweak a few things in some of the games so that the cross console is avaliable?

Also if anyone comment PLEASE do not do one of those things where you need to worship your console  and say "kh will be sh*t on xbox because..it's xbox".

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the reason the remixes are PS exclusive is because Sony made a deal with Square for that to happen, they are now not legally allowed to port it to Microsoft unless Sony lets them or until the terms of their deal run out. It has nothing to do with laziness.

Square Enix is second only to Capcom in terms of lazy game developers in my opinion.

Tell me about it

8 years of being in the dark about that ONE game that we only got two or three trailers for during all those years and whenever we ask them they reply with

Posted Image

Or "Please wait a little longer"

Over and Over and Over again

And don't get me started on their lazy job with the XIII trilogy and the horrendeus Lightning Returns

And I barely saw any information about KH3 that would make me interested aside from that one trailer with the attractions which I'm not sure if it's gonna work right in tight places like buildings

Capcom and Square Enix has been responding to us during those years with a resounding

The only dev that are the most un-lazy is Ubisoft, I think any dev can be lazy

I feel like Square should not have made that deal with Sony if they planned on releasing KH3 on the Xbox One. I believe that Microsoft fans would be more familiar with the story of KH if they would have released 1.5 and 2.5 on the Xbox 360.

Microsoft fans will feel really lost if they pick up the Xbox One version of KH3, unless if they put something in KH3 that re-explains the story up till KH3. Thinking from a Xbox fans perspective this series would feel like almost unknown to me since it has never appeared on any Microsoft platform to begin with. Not only that but they are releasing the final game in the Xehanort seeker of darkness saga on a platform with absolutely no interest  in KH and that has no install base added on to the fact that 1.5 and 2.5 are not going to the Xbox 360.

explanation 1: it's not as easy as you think to port games. adjusting buttons isn't all there is. go ask a pro coder if you want more info.

explanation 2: square had a deal with Sony that i thought was somewhat stupid but i don't really care about because im not a microsoft fangirl.

explanation 3: Square all of a sudden wants some extra bucks for KH in the Xbox One. don't ask me why, they somewhat do.

one question for everyone out there. How well is Squeenix doing in the financial area right now?

Lazy? You won't be saying that when you're playing FINAL FANTASY XV or Kingdom Hearts III.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX are exclusive to PlayStation 3 because Square Enix have a contract with Sony Computer Entertainment that makes it exclusive to PlayStation 3.

A lazy company wouldn't make their own video game engine. A lazy company wouldn't pull a "FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn". A lazy company wouldn't take all the extra time on HD collections.

A lazy company would use someone else's engine. A lazy company would have just forgotten about FINAL FANTASY XIV. A lazy company would just upscale their HD collections and put them out.

i found a funny quote on wikipedia the other day:

The business model of Square Enix is centered on the idea of "polymorphic content", which consists in developing franchises on all potential hardware or media rather than being restricted by a single gaming platform.

lol. as if.

Square Enix have had some financial issues in the past few years thanks to a failure in the original FINAL FANTASY XIV, but honestly, who hasn't been since 2007? Recently they have been going well, FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn played a major factor in this.

Square Enix don't have a deal that means Kingdom Hearts games can only be released on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.

They're releasing Kingdom Hearts III on Xbox One since they release all of their major new releases on Xbox consoles now.

Lol. Square Enix have games on every console and platform. Want me to list them? PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, PC, MAC, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Amazon Kindle, Ouya, Steam and many more.

The old model meant they released all their games on one console, but they changed this about eight years ago.

lol. i know that. but that doesn't mean that they're squeezing every single console possible out of Kingdom Hearts as a game series. It's surprised me for quite a while that they haven't released a single Kingdom Hearts game on a Microsoft console up to this point.

The console libraries that Square Enix has filled up in general has been enormous. I'm well aware of that since I've played many of their titles

Square Enix have bigger franchises than Kingdom Hearts. And they have released Kingdom Hearts games on plenty of consoles. If they released them on anymore fans would get seriously annoyed.

They aren't releasing any new games on PlayStation 3 so they wouldn't release one on Xbox 360.

Firstly , the word "lazy" cannot be applied to a company like Square Enix . Seeing some of the fans' reactions to Kingdom Hearts III , I can't really say Square Enix got lazy over the KH III matter . Now about all the HD-transferring-to-other-consoles thingy , well , Square Enix and Sony made a contract which Square Enix , as far as I know, signed .

If they were lazy, they wouldn't do it at all. They don't have to do this for us, but they are. I'm sure they just want us to have the best experience, so they are taking their time. I'm growing impatient as well, but I know it'll be worth it. I have a feeling we'll get a release date soon.

I don't think they have a game on the Wii U yet.

You say the devs are lazy because you didn't get want you want? This is one of the best HD collections out there beside MGSHD. Also Nomura didn't say everything had to be remade. Actually some assets HAD to be remade because some of the graphics were made by the PS2 that now needs to be remade on the PS3.

And lol about SE almost being like Capcom someone said. Capcom doesn't listen to their fans or ask for input. They just do what they want not caring if a game fails or wins. They are emotion less now. You use that one director from FFXIII and use it as a whole SE Department. That's just one wacko guy that cant stop getting off to oh-so-hot lightning.

They lazy sayer people don't realize what kind of HD collection they got that other collections wish for. You are lucky it didn't become a SILENT HILL HD COLLECTION.

Lol. Toriyama's team listens to the fans a lot. X-2 only occurred because the fans wanted it. And XIII-2 was made to address the feedback fans gave to XIII and also because there were a lot of fans who loved Lightning.

Well of course it's the Japanese. They are made in Japan, so the fans they can listen to are from Japan. And there are plenty of English fans who do like the games.

highly doubtfull. If they cared only about jp fans then they wouldn't ship something worldwide that wouldn't sell that they would just keep it in japan.

I didn't say they didn't care about English fans, simply that they're able to hear the Japanese fans more obviously.

And regardless, the sequels occur because the fans want them.

IGN: Why was FINAL FANTASY X the first FINAL FANTASY game to be given a true sequel?

Kitase: We included a short story/movie titled "Eternal Calm" in FFX International, which was released in Japan in January 2002. "Eternal Calm" showed life in Spira, after the ending of the original story in FFX. Fan reaction was larger than we expected and we decided to continue the story of Yuna and surrounding characters in a sequel.

At that time, our team was ready for a new challenge (for a new game, not a sequel) but we thought that creating a sequel to FFX would still be a challenge in a different way and so we made the decision to create a sequel.

Motomu Toriyama: FFX was a "complete" product that it made it very difficult for us to just say good-bye to it. Also, the characters were so appealing that many fans wanted to see more of them. However, what really triggered us to move forward with a sequel was the inclusion of the "Eternal Calm" in FFX International (only released in Japan); a short story that depicted the world of Spira two years after the ending of the original story.

IGN: Was it always the plan to be told in this manner? As two parts or even three-parts? Or is this the result of something that happened after the game had already been released?

Kitase: No, it wasn't planned - as mentioned in the previous answer, it was triggered by fans reaction to "Eternal Calm."

Toriyama: When we were working on FFX, there were no talks about a sequel. However, after completing FFX, we thought it would be nice to create a new story in this same world some day. Personally, I wanted to create a game where one could revisit the world and the characters - say, maybe once every two or three years. So, it was quite meaningful that we were able to do a sequel with FFX-2.

Thanks to IGN.
