April 9, 201510 yr Honestly, for me it's a tie between KHIIFM and BBS. Both were just so amazing in terms of gameplay! That's why I was so excited for 2.5! (: Peace!
April 9, 201510 yr I remember the first time I played Birth by Sleep, I couldn't stand the combat system, with the command list and all that. I even remember thinking, I kinda don't want to play this game though because of this. Thank God I continued, because after playing it for awhile, it easily became my favorite battle-system; I just needed to get used to it. Then Dream Drop Distance came along and just improved upon it and added Flowmotion, so I'd have to go with Dream Drop Distance having the best gameplay in my opinion. I just hope that Kingdom Hearts 3 brings back shotlocks. Those were fun.
April 9, 201510 yr I like Birth By Sleep's gameplay with the different commands, command styles, and shotlocks.KH 2 comes close, though.
April 9, 201510 yr In my opinion, Kingdom Hearts 2 had the best gameplay mechanics. Drive forms, reaction commands, had them all.
April 9, 201510 yr Kingdom hearts 2 had the best gameplay in my opinion.Birth by sleep is my second favorite.(never tried the final mix versions though)
April 9, 201510 yr I personally think that the original Kingdom Hearts was the best in... Pretty much every aspect.
April 9, 201510 yr KH1 hands down. It actually took quite a bit of skill to watch enemy AI's and time your guards, how to counterattack and how long, and there wasn't any easy-peasy reaction commands or reflect, and there wasn't super powerful god-modding magic/skills. April 9, 201510 yr *prepares for KH2 and BBS circlejerk* *prepares for rabid fanboys to attack opinion* I'm set. I generally find that out of the diffrent games, I love them all about equally (save BBS, if you haven't read my posts before, you should know I hate nearly every aspect of BBS, but that is for a diffrent topic) but KH2 and Re:Coded have special places in my heart. Until recently, I never really got to play KH1, it was hard to get in my town and the one copy I finally managed for myself didn't even play correctly. I have an English (AKA brittish/European) copy of it, but I only have a standard American PS2, so I never got to enjoy any of the aspects of KH1, the closest I had was Re:Coded. And with it, I felt like I sort of got the abridged with some re-writes version of KH1 and CoM, and that was something I coveted. This, combined with the exelent command board system (which I feel was exelent compared to BBS's) and certian gameplay mechanics I felt were amazing (having your stats determined by linking in their points and things like that was intresting and made Sora feel a little more custom IMO), I have a very good relationship with Re:Coded. It's one of few games I don't care about the plot being good or not, and instead just play it for enjoyment, which is probably why I don't hate it like a good percentages of the community dose. For me, KH2 was the first game I really, really played. Others were just little titles a friend had here or there or everywhere, nothing serious, and so I have fond childhood memories of this game. I've clocked so many hours on the game thst it's rediculious. The quick paced, fun action that was well made and fun was probably the reason I still love playing it today. When I'm looking for a challenge or a more in-depth combat system, I pick up the title and enjoy it. I love KH2. For me, however, I think I just like Re:Coded a little more at times. It's a smaller title, but not every game has to have fifty million combos to play and go at and super in-depth . It was the first I cleared on a harder dificulty because I have slower reaction times than some people as well as its the first I cleared getting a secret movie with, it didn't feel like it took itself foo seriously, and I think that's the biggest draw: it's just suppose to be a fun little game to play. Yes, the story dose nothing to the plot, but why complain? Nomura promised a game a year, and he must not have felt like the series had been developed well enough yet to move on with the main plot for KH3, and thus in order to fill his promise, he made Re:Coded to help us pass the time. It didn't need to exist, but it's not like no one is forcing you to play it, and it likely didn't slow down KH3 but instead bought it and KH3D another year. The game itself gameplay-wise is exelent for a game made on a DS with about a one year creation period of time, I think that taking it seriously ad a main addition to the series is why most people hate it when they really don't need to.. Anyway, rant over.

Prepares for "Ew you like Re:Coded?"
April 9, 201510 yr 3D because of Flomotioning around the world like an idiot if you got bored. And I really liked the Dream Eater mechanic.
April 9, 201510 yr KH2FM for sure. The controls in that game are super tight and responsive, combat is fluid and fast paced and a blast to play, I love it. I'm happy to see some love for Re:Coded too, and damn if I don't adore the game, but honestly it's pretty clunky at times, mostly due to being relegated to a D-pad and awkward L/R camera controls. Plus I know it's optional, but auto-jumping is a ridiculous idea. (Also BBS has dumb gameplay and you're all dumb for liking it. ) Edited April 9, 201510 yr by HeyMouseSayCheese
April 9, 201510 yr Wow so far only the main Kingdom Hearts games are getting some votes while the side-story games are getting no votes. Anyway it's a tie for me, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Dream Drop Distance have the best gameplays in the series. In my opinion. Edited April 9, 201510 yr by Movies798

April 9, 201510 yr KHII. I really hope KHIII doesn't adopt the BBS/DDD gameplay system. It's not terrible, but it's a lot less fun to use for me. Edited April 9, 201510 yr by Kaweebo
April 9, 201510 yr Define "side game"- because pretty much every KH game is integral to the plot. Well I play every single Kingdom Hearts games since the very first game and so far in my eyes Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, and Re:Coded are side games because each of them don't make an impact on the main Kingdom Hearts storyline. Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, and Re:Coded are Kingdom Hearts games about what happen to the characters between the main games, Chain of Memories was about what happen to Sora, Donald, and Goofy between Kingdom Hearts 1 and Kingdom Hearts 2, 358/2 Days was about Roxas and his relationships with Xion, Axel, and the Organization 13 and why he left the Organization, and Re:Coded was about what happen to Mickey, Donald, and Goofy after the events of Kingdom Hearts 2. Even though they each play a significant role in Sora, Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Riku, Xion, Namine, and Axel's character development but they don't play a part in Master Xeahnort's plan to create a second Keyblade War. I'm not trying to start a tread here but that's how the way I see it when I play those games.

It introduces major characters that play a vital role in the series (Axel and DiZ, mostly) and a recurring locale that is integral to BBS and almost assuredly KH3. To say it doesn't make an impact on the main storyline is really not giving the game credit where it's due.
April 9, 201510 yr Kingdom Hearts II blows all of the games out of the water in terms if gameplay. There's still no game that even comes close to how much fun it is to kill heartless in that game. NONE.
April 9, 201510 yr I would say BBS, although it's a tough debate with KH2FM; with all the tweaks, movement is a lot more satisfying there, but my favorite part of BBS was always the emphasis on traversal integrated with combat.
April 9, 201510 yr all games were great game play... LOL although Re: Chain of Memories was hard couldnt get used to it that fast
April 9, 201510 yr Re:Coded is definitely up there close to Kingdom Hearts I for me. I love all of the different gameplay styles it included, like the turn-based RPG thing in Olympus Coliseum. Prepares for "Ew you like Re:Coded?" Are you kidding?! I loved Re:Coded in terms of gameplay! And I'm proud to say that! Nevertheless, in terms of which systen I would want for Kingdom Hearts 3.... I want it heavily based off of KHII. The flow and the reaction commands were the best part of that game! Now I played though BBS, and it took me an entire character arch and a half to get used to the controls. I beat the game, but I'm going to have to say it was not the funnest battle system. The D-links served as an emergency heal (Much like how I used drive forms in KHIIFM), I rarely used shock-locks, and I never attempted to get one command style over another, I took what I got. I Don't like it when my character suddenly glows his move-set completely changes. I do however like it when it is connecting to the boss battle! Like when Terra had to fight (I'm going to butcher the name, don't have time to look it up) Equas, during the fight he learns the Darkness command style, and I thought that was cool!

In your opinion, which KH game released so far had the best gameplay?
