How the **** did something like this get into Steam Greenlight?

Posted

Look I know a lot of shit manages to sneak into Steam Greenlight but I draw the line when something with a title like this gets a free pass?

HOW!

HOW!HOW!HOW!HOW!

No wonder Jim Sterling is getting sick of this.....this is disgusting beyond belief

Just why ........... Why would people do something like this

Remember, Steam Greenlight is the same service that allowed games like Air Control and The Slaughtering Grounds to get through.

This....isn't surprising. Shit like this gets through all the time....because Valve just doesn't give two shits about what gets through.

Games like Hatred do have very dark themes to them but there is no hate speech behind it, it's merely a game that depicts such acts of Violence exactly the way it is without encouraging such acts to be committed.

But with all that said.....this game......it is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!

It takes a stance, it isn't satire, it is pure and simple malicious mockery.

I myself am offended at this. 3 guesses why.

Firetruck this game.

I'm not surprised this shit is on Steam Greenlight and my sarcastic remark above is referring to what a certain member here said about other gaming services having lower quality standards than Steam

What surprised me though is I never thought Steam Greenlight would go even lower with something as disgusting and malicious as this

Like seriously do Gabe Newell and Valve give a firetruck about what goes in and out of Steam anymore? How can this pass through  a quality check?

Gabe Newell took time out of his day to allow Hatred to get through yet can't take the time to see if some Greenlight Games are just DESPICABLE and shouldn't be there??

What is Valve doing??

I think that's the first video in a long time where I just sat there with my mouth open, unable to form a coherent thought.

Jim Sterling is 100% right that Greenlight needs some kind of QA department, because this is just about the lowest of the lowest it can get.

I... I don't even know what to say about this. I love Steam, and I think that it has a great library. Games like this really give it a bad reputation, though.. I can't imagine that this game would actually get passed through Greenlight. I'm not sure how Greenlight moderation works, but I seriously can't imagine this will get far into the process.

"Kill the WHAT"?! HAVE THEY LOST THEIR MARBLES?!

It's going to stir up crud ton of mess.... Just watch....

People might have just voted for it as a joke, regardless of how stupid it is. I highly doubt Valve would allow this game to be actually released on Steam. A load of games get Greenlit all the time and never get released on the platform for one reason or another.

Steam is a fantastic service, but like every platform you find your fair amount of terrible games. It's also far more open than PSN, eShop or Xbox Live in terms of user content so you are going to have issues there.

I never said it's bad in fact there are lots of games I love on the service.I mean it's just waaaaay too open and without competent moderators you get despicable shit like this.

Also that was a sarcastic remark referencing someone who said something similar to this

Getting it into green light is easy, if you have 100 bucks and time to write up the info/trailers and such. Getting it through is a far diffrent story. Also, for people wondering how it got into Greenlight, Valve doesn't screen the game's as its suppose to be a more community-based item. The community decides if it should exist or not. But of course, any reported Content gets looked at and deleted, and I believe there are also mods that, though they don't have access to knowing when content is posted (thousands of games are posted a day) they browse and alert Steam of content such as this, or delete it if necessary.

The game was pulled down, though. Since Greenlight is a community service, the mods don't screen every game before they go up. They did get to it this time, and I remember Hatred being pulled down pretty quickly in the past, too. Yes, I would certainly say that Greenlight needs more control to keep crap like this from getting through at all. The mods did do their jobs, though.

Yeah, but the point is they shouldn't be too open. There has to be some restriction that needs to be implemented cuz you can't let any random asshole who just got Unity kits jump in and throw some Unity assets and call it a "game".Not every small game maker can be classified as an indie developer especially assholes like the ones who made that piece of shit I mentioned who most likely know jackshit about video games but decided to pile some assets together to make a quick buck

Judging by the comments, I'm not even going to click it or else be disgusted before having lunch. It must be that bad.

I would agree that they need restrictions and ways to check a game before passing it. They do have a $100 fee to put something on Greenlight, which seems like it would help to keep crap like this from being included, but that apparently doesn't work. However, to be honest, I personally feel that all of these digital game distribution services need improvement to keep hastily thrown together "games" off their services. For example, I absolutely love Nintendo and they're my favorite game platform creators, but the eShop gets a lot of crap too. Of course, there's nothing like the game at the top of this thread, but there are some games that make me wonder how the heck they managed to get through (Meme Run being an obvious example, though that was finally pulled down due to copyright infringement). I can't really pull out any examples on the PSN store since I very rarely access that, but I'm sure that has its fair share of bad/lazy games, too. I've seen videos showing bad games on the Xbox store, so that's certainly not exempt, either.

I also would say that, as someone who really wants to be involved in the game development process myself, I wish that people who just throw together a few pictures and lines of code in a couple days and call it a "game" just to get a little money would step down and leave this to people who actually care about the games they make. I'm getting sick of seeing lazy/terrible games at this point, and the game at the top of this thread is no exception (Though the laziness of it isn't the only problem, of course. The messages behind it are obviously much worse). Games such as the one you showed are definitely the top priority to keep far away from services like Steam, though. I'm honestly not even sure what would cause anyone to go and make something like that... It's plain sick.

Sure the e-shop and Xbox-Live had their share of crap games but nowhere near as much as Steam and it's Greenlight program

Other than that,I agree with you.It pisses me off when actual great indie developers like WayForward(the people behind Shantae) and Yacht Club(who just started with Shovel Knight)get overshadowed by this lots of assholes who for some reason always get the publicity they want regardless of it being negative or not

What we should do is to not give them too much attention and instead focus on highlighting the actual good indie developers like WayForward,Yacht Club,Comcept and Inti-Creates who're much deserving of our attention and time than those pathetic excuses of human beings like the people behind the Slaughtering Ground and the piece of shit I mentioned above

Luckily it was removed but... seriously, this stuff shouldn't exist. Satire or not.

It isn't even a satire cuz really....what does it satire? What is satirical about it?

It's literally an intentional insult and outright lack of any human morals

There is a grass simulator on steam.. not even suprised by this.

Did someone say Air Control?

"Cola and meal please, no bread."

I can see everyone here is prob gonna hate me for saying this, but I find that game hilarious and would actually play it for the keks....lol,go ahead call me whatever you want, its funny to me.
