Fabula Nova Crystallis

The title translates from Latin as 'The New Tale of the Crystal'

Each Fabula Nova Crystallis game is ultimately based on and expands upon a common mythos focusing around important crystals tied to deity.

Owned Jim Sterling.

The footage being shown is more painful to watch than the titles of Kingdom Hearts

It's disputed in the comments of said video but honestly it a bit mixed in latin, and many still say it's gibbish, look for yourself

Edited so Square doesn't own it, as they've taken down his videos just for using FF9 Ost in his videos

I saw this a couple weeks ago. While I'd agree that their titles are pretty dumb, I thought he was overreacting a little bit... and then Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue was announced.

Who knew Shulk had the insight of Jim firetruckING Sterling, i commend you and yes it's getting beyond silly xD

"I got 3 D's for you Square, and you can suck them all"

made me laugh so hard.

yea the names are pretty whack. i'd say 358/2 Days is the worst just for pronunciation alone. Dream Drop Distance is a close second.

If you understood Final Fantasy it wouldn't be.

It's the PROLOGUE for the FINAL CHAPTER of Kingdom Hearts man >.> it makes sense.

Still sounds ridiculous, though. :/ Also, having "Final Chapter" and "Prologue" right next to each other just sounds weird to me.

You're talking to the guy watching Maleficent so a barbershop quartet dance.

... First things first: why

Secondly, that doesn't really make the title less ridiculous. There are varying degrees of ridiculousness. Those are just two very different ones.

Descendants. And yeah, but weirdness doesn't mean it's stupid. A lot of their titles have meaning, from the 2.8 title (since it's between 2.5 and 3) to...whatever else people have problems with.

358/2 Days= the exact amount of time that passes in-game split between the two main characters.

Birth by Sleep=Sora restoring Ven's broken heart at the moment of his birth and Ven's heart returning to Sora, causing his body to sleep.

Dream Drop Distance= The dreams of the sleeping worlds, the way they enter said worlds and the the separation of Sora and Riku.

You're welcome.

Crystals are at the heart of the series.

No, but a fan should. If you're not a a big enough fan to get the titles, you shouldn't be talking about them.

a long time fan would know sure..........but a general consumer or a new fan who'd wanna get into the series? This would be a turn off as it sounds super pretentious

Birth by Sleep, out of context, sounds like a pregnant woman giving Birth.....by Sleep...............see what I'm getting at here?

Fabula Nova Crystallis is another example.....yes I know in Latin it means the new tale of the crystal but here is the thing:

1Aside from Type 0 and XV the entire XIII trilogy had nothing to do with the crystals aside from L'cies turning into crystal.

And 2Out of context, again, this would sound super pretentious and incomprehinsible to a new fan or the general consumer

Basic marketing 101......if you wanna draw an audience to your game, make sure the title is understandable to both old and new fans not just old fans

Otherwise a franchise won't grow and it will slowly devolve into cult status........not because of it being "so great but not many heard of it" cuz Kingdom Hearts is popular.... but because it's losing fans as we speak and it isn't trying to draw people in.

Whoa, no need for hostility, i know the meaning of the games but Days still sounds silly honestly, Just to nitpick for humor's sake I wanted to show this to you guys, so no need to get upset

If someone wants to get into the series they should be able to look passed the names. There's a Crystal embedded in the core of every Fal'cie and there's also the crystals used to summon the Eidolons. Oh, and the souls of the dead appear as crystal dust. And in XIII-2 enemies sometimes turn into crystals.

Sorry, but it's "humor" like this that's the reason KH isn't as popular as it could be, because people can't see beyond "lol Disney and dumb names" when it's so much deeper than that.

Does said crystals embedded in the core of fal'cies matter in the overall plot?Nope not even close.the entire trilogy barely even touched upon the crystals and a plot relevant manner compared to most of the old entries like Final Fantasy IV in which the crystals are an integral part of the plot

Also no the "humor" is not the reason for KH's decline.I can state other stories and franchises that discusses the same themes presented in KH but in a much better, clearer and more intriguing way. It's not because of Disney(cuz the Disney appeal is mostly there to draw sales),it's because of how Nomura handled the later entries in the series in a sloppy manner. There is a reason why the sales for the series peaked at it's highest with KH1 and KH2 while the other entries couldn't even come close to those as people started to fall out of the series slowly................It used to be deep sure but now it devolved into pretentious

That's just my opinion though so don't feel that it's forced on you

That's why it's the "New tale of the crystals" it's presenting them in a different way.

That's why it's the "New tale of the crystals" it's presenting them in a different way.

Where are they in the plot then? That's not presenting them in a new way, that's just pretentious lying cuz aside from Type-0 and 15 no other game in the compilation(by that I meant the trilogy) had ever presented the crystal in a plot relevant manner aside from reading about how the Fal'cie function in the datalog

That's not different, that's telling stuff behind the scenes that should've been presented in cutscenes and dialogue instead of the game's own goddamn encyclopedia

It's like if I said I'm gonna title my story:Farticula Noob Custard and said it's a different way of presenting fart mixed with custard

Not everything Square Enix say is the gospel and always should be taken for granted........they have flaws and errors and that's fine but they refuse to address any of them which why Final Fantasy suffered so much for the past couple of years until it's slow recovery with A Realm Reborn and maybe FFXV

The plot significance comes from the souls being used to open Etro's gate, as I said, souls take the form of crystal powder. It may be flawed, but that doesn't mean it should be written off just because it requires little knowledge of the lore that can only be gains by actually, you know, playing the game. Should they give out explicit plot details in the title? Should, for example, Days have been called "Kingdom Hearts Roxas Kills His Friend"
