Well who do you think is considered the real main character of Birth by Sleep. I think that it's Ven because the whole story is mostly about him because he is the one who will create the X blade and the beggining is about him. Another reason is that Ven fits the stereotype of a main character cause he is the youngest and its about how he becomes stronger and defeats his darkness (vanitas). And he is connected to Sora

Reasons why Terra or Aqua can't be the main characters in my opinon:

Terra eventually uses darkness in the end and ends up being posessed. And later becomes Xehanort the apprentice. The person who gives into darkness is not usually the main character.

And Aqua, even though she saved both her friends in the end, she had no story or goal in the beggining, like Terra's goal was not to fall to the Darkness and deafeat Xehanort (this was in the end), and Ven had to try not to become an X blade and defeat Vanitas. Well Aqua had no goal like that except to be with her friends. And when there is a story with two guys and one girl the mian charcter is usually one of the guys and not the girl (well most of the time).

i think u are right...its like terra and ven are like riku and sora...sora is the main character because he has to defeat the darkness and riku joined the darkness. and aqua i think, is the least important because she was never even heard of till birth by sleep.

True Ven came out a the beggining but that dosn't mean anything, Roxas come out in the beggining of KH2 but he wasn the main hero. Plus Aqua is the true hero, risking everything and putting everything on the line for her friends. She pratically threw herself into the Dark Realm just to save Terra. And she does have goals and a story: Saving and protecting her friends, to defeat Vanitas and Xehanort, to stop Terra from falling into darkness, and to comeback and wake Ventus and see if Terra had stayed out of the darkness. If you ask me, she's the main character and the true hero of Birth by Sleep.

I believe they are all equally important.

None of anything in the series could have happened without all three of them doing what they did.

Personally, i think Ventus, since he has the most amount of connections to Sora, like Roxas, who i also believe to be the main, primary protagonist of Kingdom Hearts II.

Gotta say Aqua. She's the one who does everything right, and she has the hero role from the disney worlds.
