I get why they didn't bring him back (don't necessarily agree) but man, I feel bad for Richard Epcar

He's such a good VA but Billy Zane's like, 20 minuets of dialuge in KH 1 can't be beat for me.

Richard Epcar is a great voice actor, the problem for me is that he doesn't really capture that same smooth voice that Zane had in KH1

It's not a bad voice, it's just a different one

I like both, but prefer Richard Epcar because he's one of my favorite VAs.

Yeah Zane gave it off like Ansem SoD was like this, smooth operator, cool and calculating.

Epcar makes him sound like a JoJo villian lol

Billy Zane encapsulates the seductive side of darkness, while Richard Epcar revels in its ferocity.

Either way, you win because you're getting a very enjoyable performance.

Y'know, I actually don't get why. I know he had some controversial role in another property. But that seems like such a weak reason to not bring him back when Disney has brought back voice actors and even on screen actors with much worse things on their record.

I would hardly call it "firing" more than just not being asked back

Voice-over roles are contract based, and not a full-time job, so it's not often that an actor is outright fired in the middle of their contract

I’ve watched people play KH1 and like three of them recited that line as soon as they recognized Zane’s voice so now it’s stuck with me lol

True, but, at the time, without getting too much into political history (lol) that film and his comments hit very differently at the time.

or think kh3&MoM locked it into being a perm xbox game as well
