Square Enix Germany comments on petition for European localization of Kingdom Hearts III

Something that the original Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II have in common is that they are the only games in the Kingdom Hearts series to receive dubbed localizations for languages other than Japanese and English. Both games were officially released with German and French voices in their home countries, with Kingdom Hearts II also receiving a release with Spanish voices. Since then, all Kingdom Hearts titles have only released with English voice acting in Europe.

A group named DisneyCentral.de have created a petition to try and make a change to this, aiming to convince Square Enix to releases patches for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX with the European dubbed voices from Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II included, and more importantly, for Kingdom Hearts III to receive a full dubbed European localization, due to its status as a highly-anticipated blockbuster title.

Square Enix Germany have responded to this petition, and thanks to the team at DisneyCentral.de, we have this in English for you below:

As you've said yourself, we cannot give you many answers yet [regarding dubs]. Sadly, we don't make these decisions on our own and are bound to consulting with other territories and financial requirements. Presumably, we cannot change these requirements for the current HD [1.5] ReMIX (despite fantastic sales figures).

This is connected to us already working on future AAA titles to deliver fans known quality. So we'll try to implement all customer wishes for Kingdom Hearts 3. Including a German dub. Of course I cannot promise you anything yet for which it is way too early and we're not ready yet. But I think [the chance of a localization] doesn't look bad.

Well that's good for them ^_^

I support this partition but now I will add a bit longer for kh3 to come out if the dub it but overall it's worth it people around Europe can enjoy the game a lot more

Plus it's always fun listening to mickeys voice in different languages

I don't understand why wasting time with so many dubs. To me, japanese and english dubs are perfect. I know a lot of games dubbed in my language, they're simply...disgusting.

Are you italian? Because if you are, I totally agree with you.

Italy is wondering...

Italy will never have any italian dub in SE games, and to me it's better xD

Yeah, unfortunately I am Italian... Are you italian too? :D

Was more referring to Italian text.

It's even come to here now, wow. I won't care as long as it won't be solely in german, but other languages are still available (english).

If they decided to merely dub KHIII in english, I'd have to import my copy then.

KH fans who want to ruin KH with german dubs.. bravo! Please no.

Oh well, I'm sure we'll have Italian text in KHIII, it was awful back in 2012 when SE didn't add Italian/Spanish subs in KH3D.

When KH games are translated into other languages, do they always adjust the mouth movements to the new speech pattern? Because I've noticed that in some of the earlier games, it kind of looks like they just put an

English dub over the characters mouths much of the time, but in newer games such as Dream Drop Distance, the lip movements are much, much better. You can practically FEEL Xemnas pronouncing everything he says. xD It's a silly, but honest question...I've been wondering how this works exactly?

I'm kinda glad they never dubbed the games into my language, it would sound horrible in Dutch xD

Yes I am :)Anyway, I think that the english dub is superior to the others (Christopher Lee and Geoffrey Rush, enough said).

Finally, another Italian! :DHowever, I simply love english dub (Kingdom Hearts taught me more english than school.) but, since I have also got Japanese version of some KH games (KH1, KHCoM, KH2) I like Japanese dub too! Especially Sephiroth's japanese voice. (Goofy's one is a bit awful)

I hope they consider an European localization, but yet I would like an option to change voices to japanese or english. I loved the spanish dub for Kingdom Hearts II but I know many people, unlike me, didn't like it at all. In my opinion, a spanish/german/french/ even Italian localization would be awesome.

Glad to see they are finally taking something to it, ^_^. Hopefully they get it through square enix.

I thought they were getting the game, that sucks

They're, they're just wanting it dubbed in their language.

Don't think this petitions won't work like asking for PS3 or WiiU.

It may be possible for a new numbered title.

But unlike those petitions, this happened before. KH has already been voiced in other languages.

Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II were the only games we had voice acting in our language. I don't mind not having spanish or french voices in 358/2 DAYS or Re: Coded and a voice acting for DREAM DROP DISTANCE was unlikely to have it. If BIRTH BY SLEEP were in our language we would have the same problem of wanting Kingdom Hearts III voiced in our language. I already knew voice acting depends on the financial requirements of each territory.

Also, DREAM DROP DISTANCE was never translated to spanish or italian, SE only translated the game box and the manual.

I like to USE caps TOO.

As long as they translate the text.
