Less Disney worlds in KH3 than KH2, but with more content; Big Hero 6 world development going well and next info is on its way; Toy Story world canon to the Toy Story timeline

Aquaberry

A Kingdom Hearts III feature will be included in the upcoming Weekly Famitsu issue, and Esoteru has posted a summary of its highlights online. News Team member Dengojin has translated them as below:

  • The KH3 development team have been planning for a Toy Story world since Kingdom Hearts II, but had to go through a number of negotiations for it to finally appear on KH3.
  • The story in the Toy Story world will take place after Toy Story 2, and will follow its canon timeline rather than taking place in a parallel storyline.
  • At the beginning, Sora is mistaken for another character from a new game being sold.
  • Riding a robot to fight was an early idea sent at the beginning of the development to the KH3 development team.
  • Development on the Big Hero 6 world is going well, and the next information on it is on its way.
  • The number of Disney worlds in KH3 are less than in KH2*, but they will be vast and have more content in them.
  • The number of cutscenes in Final Fantasy VII Remake is greater than in KH3, and they are taking a long time to develop.
  • Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura is designing the organization members for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It was a request that came from his old mentors who used to take a good care of him when he was a newcomer, and he couldn't refuse that request.
  • There are no unannounced titles that Nomura is directing, but he is involved in many.

*There were 12 Disney worlds (excluding original Kingdom Hearts worlds) in Kingdom Hearts II, implying that the number of Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts III may be less than 12.

Toy Story is the latest world revealed for Kingdom Hearts III through the trailer unveiled last week at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The Weekly Famitsu feature, which will recap the event and include an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, will be published on July 20 in Japan. Stay tuned with us for updates and translations!

UPDATE 1: Since the summary of the highlights was posted online by Esoteru, more leaks have released from Hachima. Some parts of this have already been covered in the aforementioned highlights summary, but now, we have the information in more detail and new information as well. You can check it out here.

Is this clickbate as well?

Yes, the translation is wonky and the source was not verified. Matter of fact, there's no citation.

As much as I'd like to see a lot more worlds, I think Nomura made the right call for having less worlds. I'm hoping for around 10 worlds. We pretty much have four confirmed, those being Hercules, Big Hero 6, Tangled and Toy Story, so we may see around 6 more worlds in the future. I dunno if they'll bring back any of the old worlds, like Agrabah, but I'm hoping for a lot of new worlds.

Let me say the ones I'd like to see and maybe possible:

 - Frozen;

 - Atlantis;

 - Treasure Planet;

 - Princess and the Frog;

 - Wreck-it Ralph.

And here are two that I want but may seem impossible due to its recent releases:

 - Zootopia;

 - Moana.

And then here are some that are from Pixar, since we never know if Toy Story is the only Pixar Disney Movie to be in the game:

 - Monsters, Inc.;

 - The Incredibles (Though having two Super Hero worlds would be ridiculous);

 - Wall-E;

 - Brave.

And then there's the possibility of a Marvel or a Star Wars world, but that would be hard. It is possible though.

There are many choices, but who knows. We may be surprised.

I'm not concerned that we'll be getting less Disney worlds. If they're jammed pack with fun and content (which is already confirmed), I'm happy. Some people are getting riled up about less Disney worlds, but that doesn't mean less worlds in general. Considering the original characters play such a grand part in the story, I'm sure the original worlds will also play a grand role. We'll probably still end up having more worlds than KH2.

When they say less Worlds In KH 3, I'M hoping they only mean like 10 instead of 12 because if were talking only like 8 worlds then I'm going to be upset.

Well that can mean many things. I just really hope he can have Jungle Book featured this time. At a stage like this I would believe that there's gonna be more recent movies over classics.

I do wonder how they'll treat worlds inside of worlds though. Like Space Paranoids, it was actually a world inside of Radiant Garden, would they actually count it separately (as they should) or would something like this count into the vast world that would be Radiant Garden?

Aside from that, I would expect some of the Princesses of Hearts' worlds to return. I can't imagine we wouldn't revisit at least one of them (though I'd be more than fine with that world being Destiny Islands so we're finally able to see the main Island and maybe meet Sora's parents :'D)

Well, let's see what worlds we are sure is going back in KH3. I think Winnie the Pooh will come back. There are still some Disney worlds we only saw once, so I really hope we could get to explore them again such as the Enchanted Dominion, Dwarf Woodlands and the Castle of Dreams. Lastly, I think we can get a world where Stitch is in right now.

Less Disney world more Original worlds? If so Im totally down with that!

No where does it say there'll be more original worlds. Less Disney worlds doesn't mean more original worlds.

I hope not and it doesn't really make sense... If I buy a game, I want it to be complete. So no Story-DLC, that'd be awful. But even if they release some worlds as DLCs that are not important storywise... Why not keep them for future games? That'd be a complete waste.

Given how nomura talked about DLC and how that leak awhile back kinda came true, there is a possibility of it happening.

What if it were DLC resembling something of a Final Mix version of the game? I'm 100% positive Nomura has that in the back of his mind right now, and it could add more *story cutscenes and innuendos to the next saga in the series.

Here's some news. Appearently, Big Hero 6 was the last chosen world to be included in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Now before you panic, no, it's not the last world that's gonna be revealed, there is gonna be more. It was during development that Big Hero 6 was the last addition to Kingdom Hearts 3. They have already picked other Disney worlds first and Big Hero 6 was the last addition.

In other words, the latest disney movies that came out won't be included in the game, in other words, no Zootopia or Moana :(. But we can be happy knowing that Frozen and Wreck-it Ralph may be included.

I'd say we'll have 8-10 Disney Worlds in KH3.

 10 or 11. We will not have less Disney worlds than KH. Otherwise he would have said that.

KH2 had 12 Disney worlds. KH had 9.

Very observative, I'm quite impressed.

You're right.

I'm not concerned with the whole "less Disney world" thing. I see some people are a bit hesitant about it, but if the worlds are jammed pack with content...and they are, I'm sure it'll be fine. There will still probably be more worlds than in KH2. I say this because the original worlds have so much unfinished story arcs that need to be touched upon. We already know Twilight Town is returning, Radiant Garden has to return, ect.

Thanks for the info, Aquaberry!

And well, regarding Nomura's comments saying that there'll be less Disney worlds in the game really doesn't worry me too much! I'm sure that the game will have a lengthy story, and I'm sure that most of the original worlds of the series will make a return to the game, so there's also that! And besides, with Nomura saying that each world is being carefully tailored to be jam packed with content, I wouldn't be surprised if we're at least 4+ hours in just one world, maybe even more! I trust Nomura will know what to do, I trust his direction!

Ah, so development on San Fransokyo is going well, eh? And next information is on the way! That's exciting! That means we might probably get something at Tokyo Game Show this September! :D

Also, I think that it's majorly badass that the Toy Story world's story is canon to the general plot of the franchise! I think that's pretty darn awesome!

Yep i think the World roster has already been picked since 2015 and i hope to see what Worlds are new(Besides Mysterious New World(Where Young Eraqus and Young Xehanort we're playing chess before they became masters) Tangled, Toy Story and Big Hero 6) and returning ones(Mt Olympus and Twilight Town). So i expect to see what the World roster will be like when the Game comes out next year.

Sorry man, but I doubt it. We probably won't get anything at TGS or Paris Games Week. Maybe Jump Festa?

Jump Festa could be the possibility of showing a tease for what's in store for us for February's D23 event!
