kalnet 1,198 Posted July 20, 2012 A heavily armed gunman killed at least 14 people and wounded 50 more during an early Friday morning screening of the new Batman movie at an Aurora, Colorado, theater, police Chief Dan Oates told reporters. Police arrested a man believed to be the shooter in a rear parking lot of the theater, Frank Fania, a police spokesman, told CNN. The suspect was not immediately identified, though Fania said he was believed to be in his early 20s. "He did not resist. He did not put up a fight," Fania said. Police seized a rifle and a handgun from the suspect, and another gun was found in the theater, he said. Oates said there was no evidence of a second gunman, and FBI spokesman Jason Pack said it did not appear the incident was related to terrorism. President Barack Obama issued a statement saying he and first lady Michelle Obama were "shocked and saddened" by the shooting and pledged the administration's support for victims of the shooting. "As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family," it said. Chaos broke out during the showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at the Century Aurora 16 theater when the shooting began, police and witnesses said. Witnesses told KUSA that the gunman kicked in an emergency exit door and threw a smoke bomb into the darkened theater before opening fire. One movie-goer, who was not identified, told KUSA the gunman was wearing a gas mask. More info - http://edition.cnn.c...ting/index.html Confirm 15 dead, at least 50 wounded. For the love Of God what is this world coming to... Probably because he didn't go through the entrance. he went through an emergency back way door and threw tear gas into the audience. The audience was too entranced by the movie to notice much, and were confused because they thought the shots were part of the movie. When I went to see Harry Potter at midnight, I saw nothing but the screen, because that was all I was focused on. I can understand the audience feeling extremely confused on what was going on. For live feed - http://www.reddit.co...k_knight_rises/ and a witness account - http://www.reddit.co...t_the_midnight/ This tragedy is sad.... and scary. This theater is the closest one to my house and this is the first time I have missed the midnight release of one of the new Batman movies. My heart goes out to all those families who lost loved ones with this sensless act. And to those wounded I pray for your recovery. The shooter needs to be put on death row. That would be letting him off easy... For the love Of God what is this world coming to... Here is the really crazy part.... this theater usually has Cops posted there at night just due to the area and crime rate its self. I was suprised to see this cause I go to this theater, was there just last week to see spiderman.. So there were cops there too which i think is why this guy got caught. EternalKeyblade 39 Posted July 20, 2012 This guy's punishment must be more severe, when he truly realizes what he has done and the people he's hurt, then he has my permission to die. (I'm not trying to joke I just thought I would use what Bane said)

Master Aqua 42 Posted July 20, 2012 What a senseless act of violence. I don't even have the words to express how I'm feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones and to the dozens who were wounded.

WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted July 20, 2012 I am 100% Marvel and dislike DC Comics, but I totally feel sad for those people who died and who got injured and their families and friends. It makes me feel like I should just wait for a movie to come out on DVD instead of seeing it in the theater so I wouldn't be hurt like these people. Praying for everyone of them. For the love Of God what is this world coming to... It doesn't take long for something like this to happen, it's not that hard to believe that police couldn't make it in time. Honestly, when a movie like Batman is out, it's not hard to believe that fans are going to dress up. Most people probably thought the guy was cosplaying as Bane. lizzie1238 538 Posted July 20, 2012 This is absolutely terrible. How could someone do such a thing?! Now I am going to be paranoid every time I go to see a movie, especially when I get around to seeing this one. I heard that some children were hurt, which is especially terrible, but what parent brings a child under 10 to a midnight screening?!
