Should i give up my dreams?

Recommended Posts

Well... I'm a dancer. Somehow. I spend 5 days of the week dancing 4 different dances... Recently i was diagnosed with Osgood Schlater. http://en.wikipedia....hlatter_disease

This prevents me from dancing and any other physical activite... I cant dance... But dancing is my life...I said to my parents that i'm not giving up dancing but the doctor said that if i continue my bone will come off (or something like that) and i will not be doing anything for good....

What should i do? I dont want to give up dancing... :( :(

Instead of being a dancer, maybe you could transfer over to being a dancing instructor therefoe, you're not moving around as much, but you're still using your dream.

No! Keep your dream going! This is similar to many stories! Some people died for their dreams! (I'm not telling you to die, but I'm getting a point across.) Dance your heart away. Certainly there is a way to heal that bone of yours. If someone can completely make a new limb, than there is a way to fix your bone. Never give up, Never surrender.

Absolutely not! That's no reason to give up your dreams! If you REALLY can't dance anymore, than try to develop a new talent that doesn't require too much physical activity. I'll pray to God for you to get better^^

Thank you Lightning :)

maybe there's a method of dancing that does not require you to put much pressure on your knee. Do some research.

I dont think there is something like that but i'm going to try researching it

D: never give up your dreams , no matter what!! sorry to hear about that bone thing though D:

I wont :D

Quitters never win and winners never quit.

You are right :)

You need dreams, but you also need reason and the ability to weigh the consequences of your choices. Is your dancing worth a lost bone?

If you need sacrifising my bone for dancing then.. yes..

Don't....never give up on your dreams, I will pray to God for a miracle and that you be cured

Thank you :)

I'm just going to be blunt with you, I'm not going to say, "Don't give up your dreams!" Your health is more important. Do you really want to lose a bone and keep injuring yourself? You can find other hobbies to make up for it, like drawing or something not as strenous as dancing.

You have a point here. My Health is important too.. But dancing is my life... If i dont do what i want i'll regret it for the rest of my life...

is this treatable? i read the thing and it said that it can go away. but you shouldnt give up! if you talk with your doctor and ask what the risks of you continueing to dance are (whether at the rate you are now or less) should give you an idea of what you can physically do.

Well, maybe you can get a second opinion from someone. It's gonna suck to give up what you enjoy, but you need to keep in mind what's also important, like normal mobility in your day-to-day living because all your bones are intact. Bad health will affect more in your life than just your dreams.

Don't give up on your dreams!

Do you think you could heal if you take some time off dancing for a little while? From what I read on Wikipedia, having all that stress on your legs while you're still growing causes fractures and the tendon to inflame and so on. If anything don't try dancing really hard and try to heal some; if you try dancing anyways you may make it worse and you might lose your chance!

But if you really can't heal, then try being an instructor or try a dance style with little force on your leg. And if you can't heal then don't ruin your leg trying to dance anyway, all it would do is cause a lot of pain. Just try to find another thing that you can do that has to do with dance.

you`re in my prayers! but don`t make any hasty desisions i really hope you get better, that God will heal you but, we are not in control. God is.

i hope that sounds alot more up-lifting than it does to me!

I know its devastating to find you have a condition that keeps you from doing what you love, but its not the end of the world. Do the research. This is just something caused by going through puberty. It looks like more or less the problem solves itself once youre finished growing. If not, there is surgery that is mostly successful. Youre not going to be physically disabled for the rest of your life so you can still be a dancer. But if you keep putting stress on your knee, then you will be disabled for life. Take time off for your health. Spend the time off to research choreography or something similar so when you can dance again youll be more knowledgeable. Edited by Loki
