Hey guys, I just wanted to tell you all what I think about next gen consoles. I've been reading my Game Informer magazines, and during these months, I've noticed that there's been a lot of talk about new consoles on the horizon from all the big companies like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. I have mixed feelings on this matter. On one hand, it would be awesome to see the next batch of consoles so we can play awesome games with even more realistic graphics, but on the other hand, the economy is really rough right now, and costs for consoles with much more powerful graphic engines are higher by the day. I just think that the next gen consoles should be released in 5 years. I mean seriously, we're still enjoying our time with the current gen consoles, and transitioning to a new set of consoles would be uncomfortable in my opinion. Well anyways, the Wii U has already been announced, and who knows if we might hear about the Playstation 4 and Xbox Next? But I just really hope the next gen of consoles doesn't arrive yet, because I really want to be able to play Kingdom Hearts 3 on my Playstation 3. So guys, what do you think of this?

I don't really mind to be honest, as long as i see Kingdom Hearts III happen.

A ps4 and Xbox 720 really aren't necessary right now! The graphics are already mind-blowing! Not as much of a difference could be made. It's just too early for more. Thankfully, it seems in most interviews that SE is keen on using the ps3 for kh3, and especially since the fact that work on kh3 has already begun with the Crystal Tools engine. BUT IT BETTER NOT BE ON PS4!!!!

There is no way that KH3 won't happen. Regardless of time and money that SE has, the Xehanort Saga will be completed.

tutti frutti. The Wii U I can understand since there will be games like Batman Arkham City, among others, that will be directed at hardcore gamers. But for the most part I don't think that Sony or Microsoft would announce their work on the next gen consoles for quite a while. Granted, I'm among those looking forward to the Wii U, though I believe that Nintendo may have mentioned that they weren't focusing the Wii U as a next-gen console, which I think is good if they want more hardcore gamers. I just hope that we don't have to buy another console for KH3, let alone too many more consoles for KH games in general.

For people whining about '' we dont need dem fancy grephics omiguurrrd'', newer consoles are not about graphics. Better specs will lead to better AI, better framerate, better draw distance (for open world games) etc. , people are limited by specs and the limit needs to be raised. This is the longest generation yet. Oh and I hope that Sony and Ms will try to innovate more controller wise.

There's a next-gen system coming out just this year. The Wii U. I'd rather wait a few more years for the next-gen systems to come out. Not just because I don't own a PS3 (or 360 for that matter) yet, but because I don't want KH3 on PS4. The current systems are still fine.

We do not need any new consoles yet, maybe in the next few years. What they need to do is focus on the games not the consoles.

I think the next gen console(Sony) should come out in 2-3 years since Sony wants to support the PS3 for 10 years.

Sony's controllers are simple and perfect, which is what a home console controller should be.

I can't say for myself whether or not I want new consoles, mainly because of the mixed benefits they provide and how consumer demand only goes so far in fueling new consoles. I feel like the market's already hit the saturation point or is already near it, and if they don't act soon they could lose a lot of heat to the mobile industry.

if they are going to make next gen consoles then they at least better put kh3 on them! like if the ps4 comes out they better put kh3 on it or they will hear from us angry fans!

With both M$ and $ony releasing their 'contracted Xbox 360' and 'Super-Slim PS3' respectively, there's no need for them now.

Fairly certain Microsoft has gone on record saying they have plans for a new console in the near future, while Sony is sticking with 'We don't need a new console, the PS3 is great' (Which is accurate, but not exactly a great way to create hype and sales...)

 

But yeah, the Wii and Xbox are slowing down, and really DO need new systems... the PS3... not so much.

But it'll look bad for Sony if they don't release a new console, and everybody else does, so I'm predicting they will...

The Nintendo Wii U was something Nintendo had to do. While Microsoft will also be forced to release the 720 after the Wii U is released otherwise they will fall to 3rd on the power scale.

• I really don't care, since I won't be buying them right away.

• Wanting KHIII on the PS3 is not a good reason for anyone not to make a next generation console.
• If they announce new consoles, then all of the current ones should drop in price. Maybe I'll be able to play those three PS3 games that I want...
• I have zero doubt that both Microsoft and Sony have been working on their next consoles for sometime.

Well, here are my thoughts on this

There's more to realism than simply realistic graphics. More power means all sorts of things. Crazy AI possibilities, hugely improved, perhaps completely dynamic. The possibilities are vast and exciting, and they should excite you.

They do, indeed. Its just that most people seem to think realistic graphics=realism period, so I responded in accordingly. I would love better enemy and party member AI in my RPGs, less lag when there are a whole bunch of flashy things going on/lots of animation, all those things.

If the next gen consoles arrived there's a new way to experience them and they might be pretty good consoles to play with

There actually are alot of games that cant be presented on console with top graphics, and aswell the specs can go so much higher with games. And why do people keep saying we dont need next gen consoles right now because ps3 and xbox 360 are doing fine? Thay are barely keeping up at the moment with new games, and sony and microsoft dont plan on releasing next gen console information until late next year. Which by that time game companys will be begging for next gen hardware to run their games. So I think the current pace for consoles is just fine.

I really don't think that the Next Gen consoles are needed now.

 

The economy's rough, and it's already hard as it is to get something good for a good price.

 

I still think that a PS3 is expensive as firetruck.
