So how did you guys choose the first time you played through?

 

I chose the shield, and gave up the staff. ^-^

First time, I got the staff, because it looked cool and got rid of shield because foque defense.

The best offense is the best defense.

 

Also because I never really used magic, so the staff's kind of useless to me.

I always choose sword and give up the staff... but I really SHOULD be choosing the shield, because it sucks to go so long without having guard...

I always give up the staff because you will get magic anyways and the sword is better for offense imo

Swords are for badasses.

Sword for Staff, magics a pain in the arse.

I chose the shield because I wanted to get Guard as soon as I could. I gave up the staff because it wouldn't stop me from getting the spells anyway.

I choose the sword and gave up the staff....I'dunno why, I just like the sword better....and I get magic anyway later in the game, so I'm sort of killing 2 birds with one stone (I'll revive the birds later with my magic powers)

I got the staff cause I thought I could then attack from a distance (and so wouldn't lose all my health in once)

And gave up the shield, since I thought although I favor magic strength probably is important too

I wish I knew which set your difficulty settings.

Magic was my first choice. Magic in Kh1 was just too overpowered to not have IMO. Plus you get good abilities early in the final mix.

I then chose defense for ...defense.

I gave up attack since magic would suffice as a means of killing enemies.

Chose the sword, and gave up the staff.

 

POWER!

I always go for defence. Better to be able to take a beating over a long period of time than to have a great offense and die in one hit.

 

I would have chosen magic if it was implimented a bit better in the game.

I chose the sword and give up the shield. Even on the harder difficulty I don't miss the extra defense.

The first time, I knew nothing about how it would affect anything; I chose the staff because I love magic, and I gave up the sword because it sounded dangerous. I thought there was some morality thing going on (I mean, it says its a weapon of great strength yet destruction or something like that...). And magic is pretty awesome in kh1...until the keyhole's opened and all heartless get a boost, then magic is kind of useless except for cure, aero, and gravity.

 

The second time around on critical, I chose the shield because that's what I thought Sora would choose (I'm sentimental about that stuff) but also because defense rocks. And I gave up the sword, 'cause most of those abilities aren't that fantastic. I didn't even realize you got guard earlier, but I am really glad you do. I started playing a second time in expert mode after coming from BBS, so I was still thinking I could cartwheel and barrier like Aqua...at least I could basic block. My brother chose the sword, and was struggling without it.

I always picked the sword and gave up the magic because I only used magic when I needed to heal myself.

The little kid me saw a sword and instantly decided. How foolish I was to think I would use anything besides a big key to fight.

What did you take and give up in Dive to the Heart ? I took the sword and I sometimes gave up the shield

I took the sword and gave up the staff bc you would get magic anyways later on

I always took the sword I varied between the staff and the shield in my playthroughs.
