Posted October 6, 201213 yr I had always thought that sora was stronger than riku, but after playing KH3D I think Riku is much stronger, now that he's a keyblade master and everything.
October 6, 201213 yr I've always liked Riku more. Although I think Xehanort is the best ever. Edited October 6, 201213 yr by Xetorph
October 6, 201213 yr I think Riku would win if they went 1 on 1, he's got the whole darkness/light combo working for him.
October 6, 201213 yr Well considering Riku basically did (spoilers) fight Sora in the form of the Armored Ventus Nightmare and won, I'd have to say Riku too.
October 6, 201213 yr I think Riku's actually stronger than Sora. Not so much in their combat skills--though even that one is debatable--but since it appears Riku can control his darkness whereas Sora falls prey to it. Not to say that Sora couldn't become stronger. It's just that Riku has been combating darkness for some time, whereas Sora's never had the need to and hasn't been exposed to it. Therefore he's overall weaker. Given the appropriate training, I think things could be slightly different for him.
October 6, 201213 yr I think Sora is pretty damn strong but Riku is stronger .That said, they have also walked different pathes and faced different problems to overcome obstacles that in the end made them a force to be reckoned with .
October 6, 201213 yr The only reason Sora isn't a Master is because Riku dove into Sora's sleep twice, they both be Masters,(Sora better) Riku is almost as strong.
October 6, 201213 yr Riku's definitely stronger. Taking on 4 different powerful characters in (somewhat) succession like that could not have been easy. Plus his defensive skills such as Dark Barrier and Dark Roll give him the edge over Sora.
October 7, 201213 yr In terms of Strength Riku is stronger. They each have different attributes and different weakneses when it comes to battle. So, in a 1 on 1 battle I think it would be a tie.
October 7, 201213 yr At this specific point in time, at the end of DDD...I'd say Riku's the stronger one. It won't be long before Sora catches back up though. But Riku's done a lot of growth in this game, and is arguably the main protagonist in the same way that Aqua is often considered for BBS. Riku's personal growth as a person, I think, is slightly greater than Sora's so far, just because of all he's personally had to come over. Sora, on the other hand, is mostly about saving and helping out other people, which ironically led him right into the organization's hands all too easily. I feel like Sora will eventualy get more development as well as getting more powerful to defeat Xehanort. I also feel like the final battle will really end up testing Sora in different ways, as well as trying to save everyone connected to him; these "side games" have been more about everyone else, not Sora himself growing as much. Not that Sora hasn't done/dealt with a lot, but a lot of the time, he's just sort of wandering through and going forward a little aimlessly, the goals of saving the world in his head, but not being very proactive. In DDD, the 'Norts seriously wanted Riku dead, but they failed; A lot of the time, Sora is purposely being kept alive, allowing him to just sort of wander around aimlessly and do whatever comes to him. While pure of heart and having the best of intentions...Sora's a little slow. Thus, him getting captured and almost turned to the darkside. Okay, I'm done.
October 7, 201213 yr I've always assumed that Riku was stronger, but Sora has filtered above him on occasion. At the end of DDD Riku seemed to be stronger; He's saved Sora at least twice (when he gets in Xemnas's death grip in KHII, when he gets in a coma)..
October 7, 201213 yr Author I think Riku would win if they went 1 on 1, he's got the whole darkness/light combo working for him. Yeah that's what I think too, he can control both light and darkness, whereas sora controls just light.
October 11, 201213 yr Riku's definitely stronger and more skilled. Sora has the better heart though, and in the end that's all that matters with this franchise.
October 13, 201213 yr well riku is stronger thansora becuase he went threw alot of stuff ad sora got his power piece by piece but riku got his all at one time. riku's power keeps adding on and he is getting so much stronger while sora is still gaining some power
October 13, 201213 yr I don't think Riku's stronger. Saying he is because he beated Ven's Nightmare Armor is not a convincing argument, since he wasn't really Sora. Not the same strenght or abilities, he was controlling Sora. Idk wether Sora or Riku is the stronger one, seeing how they only fight each other while being controlled by darkness, and since Light always wins, there's no way to know. And it doesn't really matter...
August 8, 201312 yr Sora has a stronger heart, and he NEVER gives up. I think he would keep fighting until they both would die.
August 8, 201312 yr I've always liked Riku more.Although I think Xehanort is the best ever. Really? I liked Kairi ^_^ No but riku is deffintly stronger because he is the middle of Good and evil, a hard thing to be
August 8, 201312 yr Riku can channel his darkness to a point of where he can "safely" use it (something Terra failed at). Darkness is stronger than light, but it can become overwhelming and cause you to do the wrong things. Look at Xehanort, Vanitas, and unfortunately, Terra. They all could not control the darkness in their hearts and either became power hungry, arrogant, or just altogether failed miserably. I like to make a comparison to a race car: Is a race car faster than a normal car? Yes it is. Well, Is a race car safe to drive on the road at the speeds that it can go? No. Not even slightly. And eventually, the car WILL crash. But, if you put a race car in a controlled atmosphere (the speedway, or wherever a race car is supposed to drive) it becomes extremely fast, but can be controlled in a safe manner. So you're getting the good out of the car, without the bad. That's how I think of light and darkness in Kingdom Hearts. Edited August 8, 201312 yr by Vanitas_
