When playing fighting games, what kind of fighter do you usually play as? The heavy hitters? The speedsters? The ones who have moves that take forever to master, but are well worth your time if you do?

I always seem to choose the heavier characters for fighting games. In Soul Calibur, I play as Astaroth, in Super Smash Bros. as Ganondorf, in Street Fighter as Honda, etc. It's odd, because in RPGs I like playing as Mages because you can't just slug your way through, but in fighting games, I like just cleaning the other guy's clock. Also, contrary to popular belief, there is a skill set required in mastering the heavy characters, usually because the timing is so slow and you have to account for the extra time needed to hit the enemy.

So, yes, who do you fight as in a fighting game?

I'm usually more for the quick-hitters. Hit-and-flees are my specialty.

(whatever that says about me...)

Like in the middle between fast and strong. Or all of them.

I like Gunners (Laguna) or Brawlers (Snow).

Mainly characters with speed (hence Sonic as my avvy)

I just play as whoever has the easiest moveset for me.

In SSBB, I use Ike, but try to manipulate his move set to get over his slow-ish speed.

I usually go for the one with quick punches that deal small amounts of damage, but add up over time.

I like swift, acrobatic characters

like Sheik.

I love landing hits and then making a stylish escape 8D

and Zero Suit Samus as well

flipping through the air makes her feel not as slow to me

i go for who ever i think is the coolest so some times im the fast guy but others im the heavy hitter

I love playing as speedsters and heavy-hitters. :3 I have very little patience, so I like whatever deals the most damage in the shortest amount of time. :I

...I usually fight with whoever is pretty...to be perfectly honest...

I always fight as a swordsmen. They are not complex to play as and can do plenty of damage.

And they're badass.

I gravitate towards light and speedy characters, or ones that are just cool. I like the complexity of mages and, as I said previously, characters that are small with a lot of speed, but in the end it all comes down to the character and whether I like them or not.

I think I go for agile characters like shiek, but not too speedy or I'll lose control and end up getting myself killed lol. Although, Shiek is pretty slow when you transform into Zelda, but I still like switching between the two in battle, Zelda has the whole magic thing and ranged attacks going on which makes it easy to land hits, while its easy for me to hit and run with Shiek haha. Other than that I usually go for swordsmen like Link or Marth, but mostly Link lol.

Actually in general I go for the characters from Zelda games when it comes to smash bros lol :P

If it's a game other than smash bros, I go for the ones that have really good combos and can dish out a good amount of damage.

Same. Dirty fighting is the best fighting. xD

I always fight with small characters that hit kinda hard.

Like Krillin.

Despite being one of the weakest, I love owning my friends with him.

Depends on game. I majorly hate those sluggish characters though..

I also like characters that in beginning seem kinda useless, but with some training you can defeat opponents really easily. Like Elizabeth in Persona 4 Arena, she has low HP and she is kinda squishy, but when you can use her all attacks to fullest potential you don't have to worry about those things. She has probabky the most devastating attacks in the game.

I also like to play as character whose playing style differs from the others.

I guess The speedsters

though, I usually choose the characters with the easiest moves too.

Middle class. That way, you can quickly adjust to either side of speed or power.

I'm more like playing as a warrior. Deal great damage and has a good defense.

the ninka like people, so in ssbb i play as lucario, sheik, zero-suit samus and marth. i like sneaking in a few hits and making a quick acrobatic escape :P

heavy hitters.... are the worst for me, i just dont take the time to try to get used to their slowness

more into dead set characters with small but difficult complexes to them ryu hayabusa, vergil, lars alexanderson ,devil jin ,strike freedom (gundam) this are just my fav's i use them so i can toy with you for a bit then kill you off in two or three made of from scratch combo's

I can (and will) play as any character type. I play as Rachel in BlazBlue, Labrys in P4A, Zelda or Captain Falcon in SSBM, and Ike or Lucario in Brawl.
