I mean, i can understand the first game because of the linearity, but its story and gameplay itself GREATLY made up for it in my opinion. XIII-2 just made lots of improvements and more free roam and non linear like the previous games, albeit losing a little bit less of the amazing story XIII had, but it was still great. And now, XIII-3(Or LR: FF XIII, but i just call it XIII-3 cause it sounds better to me) looks like one of the most polished FF games to date from what we've seen. I can't wait for it. But there are still those haters, who won't move on from VII and scutinize anyone who likes XIII.

For the most part, i think it was good for the XIII series to have a couple sequels and develop and get better as it went on. I don't care what any of the haters say, XIII is one of the best FF mainstream games to date, even if its a little milked out. There's a reason that it got 2 sequels, plus 2 other spin off titles(Type 0 and the coming up Vs. XIII), and its not because everyone completely hates the series. Its pretty unique in many ways, and it makes it a high ranked FF game in my book. At least it wasn't as milked out as VII, they ruined that by the time DOC rolled around.

I personally only made it to like chapter 5?

I can't stand the characters or the constricting environment.

As for XIII-2 .... well I played like the first 7 minutes and I feel like I already like it more since there's no sign of Hope or Snow.

IMO FF13 ended on a good note and didn't really need a sequel. While i do like 13-2 and plan to get LRFF13 I really just happy the saga is finally ended. I really want to see them go back to a new FF game.

Then stop playing after the second boss, you'll see Hope again.

It was a mediocre game to begin with, and it just doesn't live up to or surpass past titles....idk HOW the game got a trilogy, like really

That's just my opinion

Because the entire Lightning saga sucks and is so cliche'.

Haven't played it, but I'm interested in it.

i think they should not make the sequel for it, just announce XV then..

Just started playing the first one recently, actually. I'm actually enjoying it so far, more so after I was able to start using paradigms and stuff.

No idea. I love it.

I've never played it since I don't own either of the consoles it's on, but from what I've heard, it's not exactly the type of game that appeals to me. The gameplay is way too linear for my taste, and the cast of characters doesn't interest me. Honestly, XI was the last FF game to "interest" me, since I've always been looking for a good MMO, and that one looks good. I loved most of the ones before it, but the ones after don't appeal to me.

One of the main things is that I've never liked the world they developed for XIII. The heavy sci-fi feeling never did anything for me at all, and in fact, the better the graphics get for depicting the world, the less I like it. I don't know, it just feels really bland, like it just appeared out of thin air in order to provide the necessary backdrop. In comparison, the world in XII is my favorite because there's so much history and atmosphere to it. Everything feels like it belongs, and you get a really good sense of the society, its people, how it developed, and what's inside it. It just feels overall more fleshed out and interesting. In XIII, it just seems flat, though I can't put my finger on why.

Also, I just generally don't like the cast of characters in the series. In fact, Snow is probably one of my least favorite characters in Final Fantasy. Admittedly, I liked Lightning a lot more in XIII-2 than I did in XIII, and I do kind of like the backstory and motivation of Caius, but still not enough to get emotionally invested in another sequel. I think the problem is that most of the cast feels like they're only there to fill up numbers or to meet an archtype that needs filling, rather than coming off as characters, and just don't seem that interesting. At least not to me.

O_O DAMN. I had no idea so many people here hated it. Jeez, louise.

Well I'm not finished yet so I won't boldly say I hate it xD

I'm just not too fond of what I've seen

This reminds me I should be finishing FFXII aswell........

FFX was the last great game in the series. Although I did play/finish FFXXII, I just could'nt handle FFXIII. It was a horrible game, and it was dissapointing to see so many FF fans dislike/disband the series after XIII's release.

Lighting Returns looks like the most polished game? The HD FFX shots looked  as good as the new trailer. That should be impossible so I'm sure there was just something funky with my video of it, but this was the case with the earlier trailer so...

I would call the XIII series a good modern number of the final fantasy series, but nothing worth excessive praise. The first game wasn't bad because it was linear. The first game isn't even a bad game, but what was bad about it was how they were lazy with it being a linear game. In any one area the same passage would be passed thirty times over before the end of the level was reached making for a short lived experience of exploration. The second game immersed me in a whole new experience, and had a pretty choppy transition into this new chapter. "L'cie," "Dysely," "coup de etat" "time travel".... wait what? As much as I am a sucker for mythology xiii-2 sort of felt like it BS'd me with all the time travel who knows what is going on.

My last criticism I would hardly consider to be subjective. The DLC is such a rip off. So you have to buy a game, and then four months later buy its ending? I mean really, let a game's income stand on its merits, not on a cheap system of generating revenue. I will still buy LR because I probably will still have fun with it, but I'm sure a fair number will have been hooked by this ending.

Also, why do you call Versus XIII and Type-0 spin offs? Don't go making me think they have anything in common aside from the mythos.

My problem is that there is literally not a single character I like besides Lightning. I could just about reach into my TV and bitchslap Hope every time he gives a bullshit monologue about annoying bullshit.

O_O DAMN. I had no idea so many people here hated it. Jeez, louise.

I'm not hating it actually..I like the game just that the 'magic' of the game lost because of the sequels, ff is not like kh or god of war, zelda or etc..

it's like the ffx too, ffx is the best ff game on ps2 but its sequel doesn't good enough like ffx, I believe that it is because of the 'magic' of ff.

for me, humans get bored easily..haha

I don't hate the XIII series

I love XIII-2,in fact it's one of my favorite FF games alongside 4 and 9

But I hate the Original XIII,not because of the story because I was one of those who liked the story of XIII(despite being pointless in terms of the plot of the XIII series)

I hate the original XIII because it has the most linear progression I ever seen in a JRPG,and it's not the good kind of linearity,

It's that kind of linearity where the game virtually plays itself and makes the first 20 a long tutorial.

Well... I´m still believing that the fantasy it´s lost a while ago. They put a lot of effort on the graphic design, however, the background and gameplay of the game, alongside the characters were left apart... FF was about story and gameplay... that´s the reason why games like FF6 or FF9 are still remembered even on this age. If a game needs 3 parts in my opinion is for two reasons: Or the game was a masterpiece (FFXIII doesn´t enter in this category) or the game was too weak in background than they needed to do 3 parts of one game for fill completely the story.

Anyway I still have hope for VS 13 or the new one... I just want to play a FF game that becomes a "masterpiece" like in the past...

I call them spin offs since they're not part of the XIII mainstream trilogy.

Alright. If its just that then were cool.

Final Fantasy XIII wasn't the worst game I've ever played,at first I had fun with it,but the story is can be so painful to watch at time.Lighting and Snow were ok,but the others suck and the battle system is not really great either and I don't get why XIII had 3 games, but other game in the franchise that people liked only got 1 game, why not moving on to XIV and XV.

Unless I see a REALLY good Final Fantasy in the futur,I won't buy any FF until they release Versus or Type-0.

13 was an alright game, which should have ended there. Sequels werent needed.

While I don't hate the XIII series, i find that any of the XIII series spinoff(type 0 or versus), would be more fit for a main final fantasy games than the mainstream ones.

True, but unfortunately, only the XIII trilogy games are main FF games.
