That's it...i tried a couple of times now...I can not stand this battle

You always have to switch between Magic, the camera is bullshit,Using Stopra in the Clock does jackshit your Party Members still die...and eventually you die

This is the worst thing ever...GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHh,.....and I just beat Kurt Zisa who I thought was actually strong before

Sephiroth,Kurt Zisa,Ice Titan,Xemnas...all pussies compared to Phantom...I will never beat Phantom...never...it's impossible...unless there's a cheat code for it

Featured Replies

LOL.

Phantom is very easy. You don't even need to be a high level to defeat it. Try locking onto the clock and use Stopra. Change the camera to "Manual".

Took me only one attempt and I was like level 63.

It's annoying switching between Magic Elements,Paying attention to your Party Members and Paying Attention to the Clock(which I'm sure it doesn't work anyways)...it's alot of Work-load for your Brain...and I firetrucking hate Flying/Swimming Battles...UGH

I'm level 86 or 87...doesn't matter for Phantom though...he's a complete hack...He makes you play Turn-Based RPG while you're moving and doing so much shit at the same time

DAMN YOU PHANTOM

Have Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga all mapped to your quick menu. (L1). Lowers the amount of menu surfing you do, even though that really isn't hard anyway.

Very good advice, but I disagree with this part. I think Aero and Stop are much more important to equip to the quick menu. Aero and Stop need to be used urgently against the Phantom, where when you need to use Fire/Blizzard/Thunder, you're given a bit of time to go through the menu. So, personally I would have Aero, Stop & Cure in my quick menu.

You've got plenty time to get Aero on yourself, really. You have the whole time that he flies to the clock, sets the attack up, and the time it takes for the attack to get to you. You'd have to be really really really clumsy with the menus to not get to the spell in time, especially since the spell will already be selected in the menu if you have it set to be there. And even stop you have time to get it out, if you maintain a regular spell on the clock. I went through the whole battle without having the timer go down any more since the first time I cast it cause I went back regularly enough to do it.

Wonder how Sora would look holding a PS controller,a PSP,a GBA,a DS, 3DS and an Xbox controller

make a peace with it, then back stab it

I managed to beat him with lv1, proud mode. Like everybody says, stop-magic is the key :)

aero,stop,mp rage are the keys.

If "Using Stopra in the Clock does jackshit your Party Members still die" then you're doing it wrong. You are doing it very very very wrong.

Level up until you have the following abilities:

MP Gift (for Goofy)

MP Haste

MP Rage (Both for you and for Goofy.)

Disable any abilities Peter Pan and Goofy have that use MP. And do a manual customization of their fighting styles so that regular attacks are "Constantly" averything else is "Ocassionally" and that they use MP and HP restoring items "Only in Emergencies". The only ability between them that uses MP is MP Gift. I cannot understate how important MP Gift is.

Equip every single slot on every single party member with ethers. Every. Single. Slot.

I recommend Diamond Dust as your keyblade. If not that, then any keyblade that boosts your MP by at least a little.

Not sure why you're having a problem with the camera. I guess it's because Phantom moves fast and swerves around you. That's not an issue with the camera, that's an issue with the Phantom moving. Simply unlock or use manual camera for those moments.

So, now that you have removed Peter and Goofy's MP using abilities with the exception of MP Gift, customized their settings, equipped the right keyblade... time for the battle.

At the start of the battle, when he casts death on Peter Pan, lock onto one of the clock hands and cast stop. Not hard at all. Whenever you see the clock ticking, or if you never want to see it tick at all, just cast stop on it between phases of dealing damage.

Between phases of the fight, when the phantom pauses to do something, do two things: CAST AEROGA ON YOURSELF. Aeroga will literally bounce that projectile he launches at you right off. It will never touch you ever if you just cast Aeroga on yourself.

Have Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga all mapped to your quick menu. (L1). Lowers the amount of menu surfing you do, even though that really isn't hard anyway.

So yeah... at the start of the battle, when he casts the spell on Peter Pan, just lock on to the hands of the clock, and cast Stop. It will pause the clocks movement for a pretty long time. Then, lock on to the Phantom. When his orb is red, cast Firaga, Yellow, Thundaga, blue, Blizzaga, white, slash him with Melee. Usually after a round of this, he will move towards the clock, and launch his projectile at you. All you have to do here is cast Aeroga on yourself. The projectile will bounce right off.

The Phantom rarely ever physically attacks you, so once you learn that aeroga brushes that projectile off, you're pretty much set as far as damage goes. And Phantom, he's easy to see coming when he wants to attack. And another simple thing... when he comes at you to slash you, just change your altitude. I found that even a slight change in my height caused that attack to miss me entirely.

Another thing to do between phases of the fight is just cast stop on the clock. In fact, if you ever feel like its gonna happen soon that it will start again, just fly over, lock on to the clock hands, and cast stop. I do not know why you think it's impossible, the only conclusion I can come to is that you are doing it very very wrong. Have you been casting stop on the phantom or something?

Not that any of that matters, because I'm pretty convinced that you've given up.

Thank you for this amazing detailed description *thumbsup*

Sounds really complicated tho

I have MP Gift for Goofy I'm sure...I was using Donald for Magic tho

Haven't tried dequipping the characters

The Camera is Bad cuz when you fly in Kingdom Hearts(like really fly not glide) and you're up against a flying enemy...it's just horrible and confusing

I might try sometime later to beat him...for now though I'm just too tired mentally

Yeah you definitely want Goofy in your party, not Donald. All Donald serves to do in this battle is eat up MP. He basically offers none of the support you need. Goofy is the way to go here.

Goofy is the way to go everywhere cuz of his defense...but I thought since this is a magical opponent Donald would be more suitable...I thought wrong

It's nothing to feel bad about. It's a logical assumption to make.

Phantom was easily one of the easiest bosses for me. :3  What I did was put Peter Pan and Donald in my party.  I then stocked up on Ethers, and when the battle started, I put Stopra on the clock, attack with spells or melee, and every 2 minutes I would cast Stopra on the clock again, and I practically didn't even pay attention to my party members.  And when he spouts that purple thing that saps your life, you simply go and stay away from his line of sight by going behind the clock tower where he can't see you, and your good to go.  All in all, it's one of my favorite boss fights, and one of the easiest for me.  I fudging hate Kurt Zisa, mostly because of his spinning attacks near the end, lol. But yeah, good luck on your difficult battle! :D

For a quick list of must haves without reading that wall of text:

-Diamond Dust Keyblade for extra magic

-ethers, mega ethers, elixirs

-goofy with mp gift and all the mp haste/rage you can.

-equip on yourself mp rage and mp haste

-shortcut Stopra and just stopra the clock when you have a moment. This helped me keep everyone alive until the end where Peter died as I did my final charge.

-use elixirs more often, as his attacks can do some bad damag. Heal + full MP is always helpful.

-just keep swimming, just keep swimming - I mean flying.

Have a Keyblade equip that raises your max MP a lot if you don't have the Ultima Weapon then Oathkeeper this battle is gonna mostly consist of magic anyway so in your shortcut menu have Fire Blizzard and Stop and then on the magic menu have it set to thunder on your party bring Goofy and Peter Pan and make sure Goofy has MP Gift helps out a lot and make sure you give your party memebers all ether's or mega ether's and give yourself all Elixers and maybe one Megalixers to start out the battle put stop on the clock right away and then start working on the Phantom if the Orb is red that means you have to hit it with fire, Blue blizzard, Yellow thunder and white means you have to hit it with an attack but don't worry about that most of the time your party members will just keep hitting it after you do two rounds of that make sure you are on the other side of the clock tower when he sends out his little spirit thing at you you do not wanna get hit with that aero would help to but I didn't use it and then put stop on the clock tower again and after that it's just doing it all over again it's really easy when you get the hang of it also make sure your party has MP Rage and Haste on as well it can really help and also make sure you have good equipment on as well maybe some that increase your AP and MP you might not need it but it might help anyway hope this helps to. and if you want you can watch my attempt at him in my video here for a little more help

firetruck..I kept using Stopra on the Front Clock...didn't know you had to go around it

I might pull this off...I'm probably not gonna enjoy this battle though

I'm thinking of putting Blizzaga,Thundaga and Curaga in my Shortcut Menu(man it would have been useful to have 4 slots like KH2 so I could put Blizzaga,Thundaga,Firaga and Curaga all as shortcuts)

I wouldn't put Curaga in the shortcut menu or use it at all it just takes up MP if you want you can also give perter pan and goofy some hi-potions or some other healing items or you can us an elixer but whatever works for you will work for you.

Stop DOES work on the front clock...I beat him extremely easily and kept the front clock stopped the entire time. Not one of my party members died or came even close to it. You probably weren't even targeting the right spot or something....which is the middle of it. REMEMBER: You can stop the clock RIGHT as the battle starts and keep it stopped and you'll be fine. Take this protip directly from a pro herself.

Phantom is one of the EASIEST bosses in the entire game. People mistake him as harder than the other secret bosses but this is nowhere NEAR true. Even Ansem and Xemnas are 10x harder. - _ - You can VERY easily avoid his blast by flying around the clock as soon as he starts casting it, which makes the blast hit the clock tower instead and disappear. You don't even need to waste magic on Aero because of this. You'll succeed avoiding it EVERY SINGLE time. When you keep the clock stopped and do that, the only attack he can hit you with is his swipe. Stop the clock at the start and also stop again at every 60 secs or so the whole fight, hit him with whatever is shown, and avoid his blast by flying to the other side of the clock. That's literally all you have to do. It's so damn easy...That literally takes next to no thought at all...

I hate this boss! Why you ask?

1. I cant lock onto the stupid clock.

2. My attacks go throuh it so i dont do any damage

3. IT KEEPS on locking onto to me and does nothing to my party!

So annoying.

You must be pretty bad at it then. I found it so easy.
