I, myself, was confused a lot. I thought that Ven was Roxas, Terra was Sora and Aqua was Riku. Since Roxas was a nobody, he couldn't age, right?

 

With the new trailers I was so confused. I had no idea of what it was about until I started to notice on a young Riku and Sora, but still, it was confusing.

 

The BETA of BBS was so different. The game was going to be for the PS2, it was going to have capes and a different storyline, a darker one.

Nobodies age, look at Namine, she is much taller in KHII then CoM. And Xigbar, and Zexion they had definitely aged since they were somebodies even though they became Nobodies just one year after BbS. 

 

 

Anyway, I was like "Who are these people and why do they have Keyblades"

 

IDK about the storyline, it was still pretty dark as KH games go.

I thought that it was awesome looking! But I also thought Terra's keyblade armor was Xemnas's armor from the Kh2 battle just made to look different. I then thought that everything else was more epic then anything seen in the series at the time. I also thought Ven was Roxas, but I think everybody did.

When I saw this trailer back in 2006, I, like many others, thought that this was Kingdom Hearts 3.  Later on we learned it was not 3, but a prequel by the name of Birth By Sleep.  And when it released, I was not disappointed, the prequel was well worth the awesome trailer!  And seriously, BBS is one of the darkest games in the entire Xehanort Saga!  Days comes as a close second to me.

I was so amazed by the initial trailer. I just wanted whatever it was immediately.. and Luckily it didn't disappoint. 

I don't think I heard about it until it was confirmed to be a game, so.. Yeah.

I first thought Ven was Riku and Aqua was a older version of Kairi and Terra was just some random dude. I was kinda surprised when I figured out the entire story behind that scene. 

I just went " Kingdom Hearts, WTH are you doing?" and went with it. 

I was really confused by it, honestly. I was wondering why "Roxas" was with different people, mostly. Haha.

I never saw the Betas of BBS, it was just out in store or something and I went and bought it with left over birthday money.  When I first saw the secret video I thought it was KH3 (naturally following KH2, who'd a thought a load of midquels would come out)

I thought that there was some form of cataclysmic event resulting in Sora dying, leaving, being captured/incapacitated or something, where maybe Roxas was ripped from him, sending him into a weaker state and easily taken or disheartened or something (making Roxas then available to play with), with Roxas teaming up Kairi who over the course of the apocalyptic years grew older, and dyed her hair.  I thought Terra was some rouge who's really powerful, aloof and stonehearted (to fit the personality), probably in it for the munny or other gains and was on helping them save Sora.  MX was a random new villain who rose with a masked side-kick.   Also with the way Aqua holds Ven and how they looked at each other, I assumed during the course Kairi and Roxas had fallen for each other in their attempt to save Sora.  

"WE get to play as Roxas again?! Heck yea!"

BBS was my first exposure to KH. I saw animated banner ads on a website I used to be on and thought that it looked interesting, so I decided to do some research and see if I wanted to spend my very restricted (at that time) internet access watching a walkthrough. I found the Kingdom Hearts wiki, and I was CONFUSED AS HECK. I had no idea what half of what I was reading meant! I decided to try looking at character pages instead in the hoped that they would make more sense. I saw Master Xehanort's page and thought it was cool that he's voiced by Leonard Nimoy. Then I went to Master Eraqus' page. I was starting to figure a few things out by this point and, being a major Star Wars fan, decided he was the Jedi Master type character. Then I saw the voice actor and went "HOLY CRAP, THEY GOT MARK HAMILL TO VOICE A GOOD GUY!?!?!? MUST SEE!!!" And yes, that is literally not only how I started watching BBS, but how my introduction to the KH fandom occurred. Thank you, Mark Hamill.

I originally had thought the same thing as you. But I began to really think about it, and in Kingdom Hearts 2, they mention Xeahnort. So I knew this story was a prequel in some way, because I knew that man was Xeahnort. But then I thought maybe Ven was Roxas's brother or something? Lol

Yeah, I thought it was KHIII and Ven was Roxas, and Terra was soras dad

My first thought was "WHAT THE HECK IS DOING ROXAS THERE?"

I thought it was Kingdom Hearts III, but nope... it's still good, though.

Well, I never saw any trailers. I was too young when the game came out, and didn't understand any of that. But my first reaction when I saw a banner at gamestop was to mutter to my brother. "They're running out of ideas. Look. They just totally ripped off Roxas's design!"

I found our about it the same way! I came across the Kingdom Hearts 2 ending on YouTube! And when I did some research and found out what it was my first thought was- well I didn't actually have a first thought, I just let out a high pitched fanboy scream!
