This is what I want from The Lightning Saga on PlayStation 4 & Xbox One.

Following in the footsteps of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, I expect Yoshinori Kitase to serve as producer with Motomu Toriyama as lead supervisor and Isamu Kamikokuryo also supervising if he's not too busy. And of course, Shinji Hashimoto as executive producer.

Next, in terms of studio to handle the ports I'd like one with experience developing for PS4 and/or Xbox One. I have faith Kitase would choose a good studio after the fantastic selection of Virtuos for X/X-2 HD.

The Lightning Saga would of course include Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

Key stuff:

I want all 3 games remastered in 1080p and to run at native 1080p on both platforms.

All 3 games to run at 60FPS if possible. This doesn't matter as much to me, but I know it does to a lot of people so I would like to see it included but if it is I would also want a 30FPS lock like The Last of Us Remastered.

Dual-audio included for all 3 titles. Again, Japanese audio does not interest me but it does for a lot of people and the data is now there after the PC ports so it might as well be included.

All DLC included. This has to happen and I would be shocked if it didn't. The PC versions include all DLC possible so it should be no exception here. I'm counting Final Fantasy XIII's Easy Mode under here too.

Shared-trophy lists. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster both have shared-trophy lists between their PS4 & PS3 versions. I want this to happen here too.

Remote-play for PlayStation Vita. Pretty much a gimmie, doesn't phase me too much though.

Optional bonuses I'd like to see:

PS4 & Xbox One themes & avatars.

Collector's edition including an artbook and soundtrack.

Additional costumes & weapons.

Hard & Super Hard difficulty modes for XIII and XIII-2.

The unlikely thing I'd like to see:

New content for Final Fantasy XIII. XIII is of course linear and was plagued with development issues with many towns scrapped including Lightning's House and even some DLC. What is likely the DLC area was found in the PC version's code. I would like to see this area and perhaps others added in a finished state.

This is what I want, what would you like? Also, before anyone mentions HD remasters of Final Fantasy XII or IX, please remember they're up to Hiroyuki Ito.

Only thing I mainly want is dual audio and the menus during combat to be smoother/faster in XIII. Everything else mentioned would be nice and I would love XIII to get DLC. I still want to fight Titan >_<

I would buy this in a heartbeat! I loved the Lightning Trilogy, it's weird that it was much hated upon.

A possible option would be to release the remastered trilogy with 3 discs, one game in each, as I believe at least XIII would take up one whole disc with all of its graphics and new remastered textures. My favorite one was XIII-2, though the quality in textures did seem to decrease due to the time worked on it, though the gameplay was greatly improved and a great story.

I never did finish Lightning Returns due to my PS4 backlog, so I would certainly finish it this time on my PS4.=)

Yeah, it would have to be on three discs.

Go finish Lightning Returns, sooooo good.

Also no surprise you liked it. Same director & producer as FFX & FFX-2.

I'd like to see 13-2 and Lightning Returns use the higher quality models 13 used (they'd have to make some new ones for people like Noel, but that's hardly a towering task)

also would't mind seeing 13 difficulty retouched, snce a lot of battles become a matter of repeating the same actions over and over to deplete an overly long health bar

That has more to do with gameplay feeling bland at times rather than difficulty. :P

In a Square Enix Europe press release, Square Enix revealed the Final Fantasy XIII series has received "critical acclaim" and has been "widely successful".

FINAL FANTASY XIII expands on the rich traditions of the series, with producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Motomu Toriyama, character designer Tetsuya Nomura and art director Isamu Kamikokuryo combining their creativity to deliver a beautifully epic FINAL FANTASY universe. Additionally, Masashi Hamauzu presents a sweeping soundtrack while movie director Takeshi Nozue and his team of artists adorn the game with seamless cinematic sequences.

The FINAL FANTASY XIII trilogy began in March 2010 with the release of the original FINAL FANTASY XIII and continued with its sequel, FINAL FANTASY XIII-2, released in February 2012. The most recent release in the FINAL FANTASY XIII series, LIGHTNING RETURNS™: FINAL FANTASY XIII, launched on 14th February 2014 to critical acclaim.  The series has been widely successful, shipping over 11 million units worldwide.

As ratings for the game falls below average and sales of the game plummeted both in Japan and worldwide failing to sell even half the amount of XIII-2

Square Enix do love the smell of their own fart now don't they

Sure the first XIII game sold 6+ million copies but that's because it's firetrucking Final Fantasy, the brand power and media hype is what sold that game

It's a shame that despite XIII-2 being the better of the three it only sold half the amount of XIII

XIII with 6.6 million, XIII-2 with 3.1 million and LR with 1.4 million before digital, PC ports, mobile ports and PS Now.

I'm glad it did good   I love the XIII trilogy and I'm waiting for the PS4 remaster still

Haha yeah,FF XIII only sold a lot of copies because of the hype and the name itself. Whereas XIII-2 and Lightning Returns didn't sell as well as XIII. I like how SE is acting like this is something to brag about.

They're making a lot of money from these games. Nuff said.

The average score for the entire series is 75

so it got acclaim

sold well too

13-2 sold worse, but that's how sequels, especially low budget ones, work

really the low scores that came for 13-2 and lightning returns were just the critics being mad they didn't get in on the anti-hype

just because it's popular to hate ff13 now doesn't mean it doesn't make them a tonne of money

doesn't mean Lightning and Fang aren't incredibly popular characters

doesn't mean people don't keep buying the games and related merchandise

So what you're saying is that every single person who didn't like the XIII trilogy is objectively wrong with the whole "anti-hype" thing

A game can sell millions and still have shit ratings, have you ever seen the score for games like Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens Colonial Marines ?The game's score was shit but didn't stop it from selling like hotcakes

Sales doesn't always equal critical acclaim and when it sometimes does the higher ratings would push even more units

In the case of the XIII trilogy however it's purely brand recognition.Final Fantasy is a household name and a main release will certainly sell like hotcakes regardless if it was great or it blew chunks

The reason why XIII-2 sold half the amount was because only those who liked the first XIII were left to buy it and the same spark of hype that would usually follow up a main release is no longer there

LRFFXIII on the other hand, especially by Final Fantasy standards, sold like absolute shit and so far it's the worst selling FF title that is related to a main game especially since it sold even less than what XIII-2 already sold

Just because me and you have differing opinions on them doesn't change the fact that by Final Fantasy standards, those sales numbers should've been much more than that especially since FFX HD,a remaster of a game that's more than decade old,and Final Fantasy XIV a Realm Reborn already sold waaaaay more than it despite Square Enix specifically focusing on the XIII trilogy with their marketing heck Bravely Default, which would've been an obscure JRPG,already sold way more than Lightning Returns

And sure sales doesn't matter most of the time if  we enjoy a game enough but he's discussing sales here so he wanted me to focus on that.

Also,if the average score of the entire trilogy doesn't even come close to the score of a single solitary main entries before them(Seriously from 6 to 12 each game has a higher rating individually than the entire trilogy combined)So it really isn't that acclaimed.....in fact I don't remember the rating average equating to "acclaim"

Lightning Returns outsold Bravely Default. Lol.

Also, check your sales figures, it outsold The After Years and Dirge of Cerberus. It will also outsell FF2 by the time it hits Steam, mobile and PlayStation Now.

I hate FFXIII like realy realy realy BAD Hall-way section the video game and more more and it's sequel was... Kinda surprisingly better and had some good parts and I actualy kinda liked the gameplay and Caius theme is awesome and his voice I just like it... That was all the positive things I could say... And that I find Caius awesome

Edit: On second thought I looked up Caius again... Don't find him that awesome

I've played XIII and XIII-2, and I have to say that I've loved both games!  I haven't played Lightning Returns yet, although I've heard some bad things about that game. But still, I've played the first two, so I know I'll eventually play Lightning Returns down the road.  But yeah, the story of the games are amazing, and as far as villains go, Caius Ballad is definitely one hell of a badass! :D

People will always say bad things about Motomu Toriyama games, but the truth is they're always widely successful and sell more copies than even Square Enix expected.

Ah, I see.  Honestly though, I don't see why the XIII series get so much hate.  I think the characters are intriguing, and the stories enticing!  Plus, the graphics, voice acting and music are majestic! :3
