KH3D: what surprised you the most?

Posted

When KH3D came out, it changed the story of KH forever. Nothing was ever the same. I want to know from all of you, what about it surprised you? For me, learning how everything from BbS to Re:Coded was part of a huge plan to create the thirteen darknesses. What about you? Discuss below.

How bad it turned out

Donald and Goofy defeating Guardian in one hitWhere the heck was that strength back at The End of the World?

well canonically they've leveled up to 99 twice as of DDD

They forget all of their abilities and powers from Kingdom Hearts I in Chain of MemoriesSo they were still only level 99 once, same as they were at End of the World

How much the code scramble move in the grid resembled real computer code.

That they would use the cliche cheesy time travel bullshit in the new way they did and how they retconned so much shit in DDD in general.

they get all of their memories back though, that's what the pods were for, remember?

There's a reason why SDG are more powerful than their KH1 counterparts from the get go in KH2

I was pleasantly surprised on how well they did Riku's character. I was never a huge fan of him in most of the games but he was one of the best parts of KH3D.

How terrible DDD is.

The thing that surprised me most were the second most annoying enemies to deal with in the series.

SERIOUSLY!

All they do are either stop you in your tracks in an inescapable attack, run away, combo you to nearly being unfair, guard themselves or immobilize you.

I was surprised with the whole New Organization XIII plan that changed a lot of information from the beginning of the series till Coded.

What definitely surprised me most was when Xemnas explained that Nobodies could grow hearts over time, meaning that he had lied to everyone in the Organization about not having hearts!  (Except for Braig though, he was in cahoots with Xemnas all along.)  I was like: "So that's why Roxas cried at the end of Days!  He had grown his own heart!"  And Axel also cried in a new scene I saw in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, almost towards the end of the game.  That means he had grown a heart as well by that time.  Xemnas was cruel, misleading the Organization members into thinking they had no hearts! D:

And also, the thing that surprised me most was the amazing amount of bosses I had to fight as Riku in the end!  I loved every single battle, it was a thrill!  And the thought of Sora almost potentially becoming a Darkness was scary as heck!

Pretty much all of the story at TWTNW. Time travel and Xehanort squad came out of nowhere

How bad it was

Basically most of the plot points brought up towards the end of the game like time travel, the new Organization and Lea's Keyblade. Not all of them were pleasant surprises though....

How much Nomura wants you to never feel a sense of accomplishment for anything you've done.

And how much more he wanted to kick TAV down.

Lea getting a keyblade, boy what a load of utter crap that was.

I was surprised at how unsurprised I was. Time travel featured a novel take (even if it is more confusing than necessary), but everything else was patently obvious if you've been paying attention to the series.

Lea getting some Fruit-By-The-Foot-looking thing instead of Bond Of Flame.

These and the freaking ending with the tea party out of nowhere.

The intro .

How much sillier they managed to make Sora be.

Learning Xion, Namine, and Roxas were still "alive" in Sora's heart
