There is pretty much zero chance of Final Fantasy XV releasing in 2015 now. Holiday 2015 line-up is officially crowded. Including two massive Square Enix games in Rise of the Tomb Raider and Just Cause 3. And this is before you consider all the other massive games coming Holiday 2015 including Star Wars Battlefront and most likely Uncharted 4.

Not to mention how far in development they are... They're not fully done. 2016 for sure.

2016 FFXV2017 KH3That would be great.

That's almost definitely what's gonna happen.

Damn Square Enix and their marketing! FFXV in 2015 woulda been perfect!

Yeah, but that doesn't mean there can't be more SE games this year besides what release times they have said, we only just started this year!

(Also, I feel as though I'm the only one who is wondering about Hitman. I wonder when the next one is going to show up?)

If FFXV is good enough, fun enough, challenging enough, and long enough, I would be okay with that plan.

Too bad that XV in '15 probably can't happen.

The holiday lineup is always crowded =P. But with Tomb Raider and Just Cause, yeah, it's likely that's it for SE standards. Considering their sales expectations for those lines anyway...

Well first off

none of those games are RPGs, so there's that

Second

None of the games you mentioned are big in Japan

just because it's a crowded window doesn't mean it won't happen... That'd be like saying a movie won't come out in the summer because there are too many good ones coming out. Plus the team doing rise of the tomb raider and just cause 3 have 0 effect on what square enix is doing with ff

Is this news? Anyone that thought FFXV was coming out this year... come on.

There's not even a good chance it will come out next year.

Brace yourselves, it will be another year full of fanboys writing long paragraphs defending why the game will come out this year...

Square Enix can't afford to release 3 massive games in the span of 2 months.

Would they really push back the much-hyped newest entry in what is by far their biggest franchise for two games that are nowhere near as popular, especially in Japan?

I mean, if FFXV isn't finished, then it's not finished, but if the game if completed in 2015, would they really delay it past the holiday season for other games? Seems like a shitty business move.

It wouldn't be, specifically because they want to ensure sales of certain games don't overshadow their other titles. What's the point if you can't build a profit off of the other titles?

Pretty much. Releasing FFXV alongside these games would make all their sales suffer and Square Enix can't afford that to happen.

Okay, so why not delay the game that's an Xbone exclusive or the game that was just announced a few months ago? Why delay their most profitable franchise? Still seems like it's be a bad move (again, assuming it's not just because the game is still in development).

It's not a matter of delaying it. It just simply makes it clear they won't be releasing it this year. I don't think it will be ready anyway. Nomura screwed up big time, plenty for Tabata to clean up.

Ah, I misunderstood. Fair point then.

There was always zero chance of it releasing in 2015.

There's zero chance of it releasing while we're all still alive too

Well that isn't really the reason cuz you can have multiple releases on the same month of holidays for maximum profit

the actual reason would be that the game needs just a little bit more time in development

This year is still pretty new. Why all the speculating now? Besides, SQEX could release it before Holiday 2015 you know. Do not count that out.
