Would you like to be able to play as multiple characters in KH III?

If you asked me this question six months ago, I would have said yes. However, since this is a "numbered" title, I think we should only get to play as Sora to keep that trend going. But who knows? Nomura can pull anything out of his arse.

Since it's apparently the last in the Xehanort saga, sure.

Depends on the characters. Riku was fun enough, but often either too same-y to playing as Sora (3D) or really awkward (KH2, Re:CoM), so I probably wouldn't want to play as him if it can be avoided. But certainly, if they can pull it off like they did in BBS, I'd be for it.

Only if it's Aqua.

Yeah, I'd be all for that. Given the dearth of details, I'm holding out hope that we'll play as Sora, Riku and Kairi (like BBS, but good! ) each doing their own thing- Sora with Donald and Goofy working to protect the Princess of Heart and finding whatever the "Key to Return Hearts" is, Riku and Mickey looking for ways to help save TAV, and Kairi learning to actually be competent.

I agree somewhat with this; if there are multiple characters, I don't want them to repeat any worlds, or if they do, have them all experience different areas. I hate when worlds get too same-y like they tend to do in the other multi-character games.

I think it would be cool to play as other characters, but it also depends on what characters we get to play as.

I'd rather not go through the story three times like in BBS. I'd like to see something somewhere between KH2 and DDD.

KH2 had you play as Roxas for a full segment of the story, then pick things up with Sora. It also let you play as Riku briefly in the final boss. DDD had you progressing through the story while alternating between Sora and Riku.

 

I think the story should be linear, progressing fully in one playthrough with a primary focus on Sora, while occassionally giving the ropes to another character. I'd love to play as Kairi or Mickey or even Lea for a little chapter.

It'd be really cool if your perspective in the final part of the story flew around characters a bit for the sheer cinematic awesomeness alone. Multiple playable characters in a cast as big as this in a plot centred around gathering said characters could result in an extremely epic final battle, as long as it isn't overdone. Square Enix have a lot of potential to create something immense. I hope they'll find the best way to make use of it.

No. I like the way BBS did it, but I wouldn't want that in a numbered title, it becomes less focused. Sora should be the only playable character, except for events like they did in KHII where you could play as Micky or Riku, that is fine. Remember guys.... this is Sora's story

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

 

Multiple playable characters is a must.

 

This is going to be the final showdown between 13 villains and 7 (or more) heroes. Being able to play as multiple characters would be perfect, seeing a variation between characters because I don't want to get stuck in Sora's big ol' shoes only. We've played as so many characters in the series: Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Sora, Riku and Roxas. And after playing as all these people, I don't think I wanna go back to playing as Sora alone. I want to see other characters' side of the story, I want to see how they fight, I want to play as all these characters to make Kingdom Hearts 3 the perfect game, the superior above all the other Kingdom Hearts games.

 

While I agree that we shouldn't have to make different storylines, like in Birth By Sleep, I still believe that Square Enix is fully capable of allowing the player to play as multiple characters in ONE storyline, as in just ONE new game. My idea of how this could work is by making the ability to switch between characters is by making like Dream Drop Distance, but without the drop meter. I want us to switch when we want.

 

Like I said before, this is going to be the epic conclusion of the Xehanort Saga. If we will only be able to play as Sora, then that means that A: other characters will fight only with the use of cutscenes or B: Sora fights everyone by himself, which completely defeats the purpose of having seven lights.

 

People might tell me that they could just make it like how they did with Riku at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2, but here's the problem: that was only a few seconds with a limited amount of commands (three: attack, dark aura and guard). You want to go through those tiny amounts of seconds to play as other characters with little to do? Or go through the entire game like that with Sora being the only person to level up?

 

We need to be able to play as more than just Sora. Each character should have their own levels, weapons, accessories, etc. We could have for example Sora, Riku and Kairi in the party and press either R1 or R2 to switch between the characters during a fight, not in a pause menu.

 

Now people might disagree with this last paragraph, saying that's completely new to the franchise or that's too much. Remember Kingdom Hearts 2? It introduced so many things that the first game didn't have: limits, reaction commands, switching party members whenever you want and drive forms. Each edition in the series has added something new and that's what Kingdom Hearts 3 should have: multiple playable characters.

 

We have to remember, this is not Sora's story only. It's not all about him. Other people have a score to settle with Xehanort and they have the right to face him, not just Sora. In fact, Sora has nothing against Xehanort. He has no reason to battle against him except for the fact that HE'S THE BAD GUY! At this point I feel like Riku or Terra should take down Xehanort, they at least met the guy. Sora has not seen Xehanort, at all.

 

Heck, Sora has not had much development than other characters like Riku or Roxas.

 

Multiple playable characters is what we need, what we desire.

I'd be fine mostly just playing as Sora. 

I think it'd be pretty cool. I'm thinkimg it'll most likely be Sora for thr majority of the game, but playing as Riku, Kairi, or any of the other guardians of light for even small portions of time would be awesome.

I wouldn't mind it as long as it worked and as long as it isn't how it was for Birth by Sleep, because A) that would suck to have to start a new game with a different character to play through the game again. B) I feel like that will spoil some of the game when you finish the story with one character and then start playing as another character like for example if you play Birth by Sleep as Aqua first you learn that Master Erauqs was defeated by Terra and Master Xheanort and you are like, what wait what you mean you get to fight Master Erauqs as Terra in his story? I wouldn't mind if they did how they did in Kingdom Hearts 2 where you played as Roxas in the tutorial and then Sora for the rest of the game, play as someone else during the tutorial and then play as Sora, I wouldn't mind if they did it where you switch characters after a while with playing as Sora say once you beat three worlds as Sora you chance characters and they either do the same worlds or some of those worlds and some new ones before you play as Sora and then once you beat three worlds as them you chance back to Sora.  And once you beaten the game but you are at the last place before the final boss you can freely chance characters so you can grind them up again.  But I also wouldn't mind if you just play as someone in the tutorial and then play as Sora for the rest of the game like Kingdom Hears 2 that would be nice.

While sora is my favorite and even if it was only him I would be happy. I think it would be cool to have other characters to play as. However I think it would be weird to play as ventus/aqua/terra with the gameplay the game has right now ( Than again we don't know much about it)

I like the idea of it mainly being Sora you play as, but having segments where you switch to a different character, like playing as Axel in the RoD to save Aqua, then playing as Aqua in CO to find Ven etc.  Smaller segments integrated into the one storyline 

I like the idea of there being little segments like with Riku in kh2.  Except maybe a little longer than a 10 second section of a battle...

I just really want to play as Kairi at some point in the game.  And maybe Lea too since we haven't played as them before.

Since this is a number title, I think it would be good to just play as Sora. That's how it has always been, and I, personally, would like to keep it that way.
