  1. 1. How long do you think the gap between DDD and KH3 will be?

    • No gap! It will start directly after the events of DDD
      24
    • A very small gap; a few hours to a week after.
      52
    • A big gap; weeks or months after events of DDD, for them have already completed essential tasks.

    • A full year like between Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.

    • Longer!! So that Sora outgrows his Kingdom Hearts 2 outfit?

I think a big gap, maybe a few months. Sora will be wandering, trying to "find himself", kairi will be training, and others will be doing their thing while looking for sora. The events of kh3 start with donald and goofy finally finding sora, and them teaming up to fight a SOD pre-fight. Then the two tell sora whats up, and ask if he's ready. Of course our hero is, and they head of on their mission to find the key to awaken people.

Tiny gap, although it depends on what we consider "starting". It might open with a flashback, or start at a point slightly ahead only to then expound on what happened in the meantime (like that weird scene after the Battle of 1000 Heartless).

A week at the most, I'd say

Definitely at least a few weeks, largely because of how everyone has affairs to put in order, assuming it's Sora retaking the mark of mastery exam. In fact, Sora says that he has some things to take care of. Even by the time that the secret ending rolls on, Goofy laments to Donald that Sora's late. Yep, it's definitely going to be over a week, whatever Sora's doing at the end of the game.

A few weeks because kairi should be well trained to be able to handle her keyblde well by the time of kingdom hearts 3

i think the largest gap will be within kh3 considering the trailer showed both kh2 sora and his kh3 attire

A week or two maybe.  That Keyblade war sounds serious.

There will have to be a substantial gap if they want Kairi and Lea to be competent using their keyblades, otherwise they would have to have time jumps within the game itself. I think a few months will be a perfectly suitable gap.

Yen Sid has a Hyberbolic Time Chamber, remember? She can train to KH2 level in no time.

That's only because half that trailer was filmed before his KH3 design was finalized. Remember, The Kingdom of Corona is the first Disney world we visit and sora already has his new clothes and harcut by the time we get there. Dispute how it looks his KH3 and KH2 models are the same height, it's just the proportions that are different, they're more realistic. As others have stated, it takes place immediately after 3D. And Sora is not retaking the MoM, Nomura already stated he has no intention of ever making Sora a true Keyblade Master because he feels it would distance the character from his "normal boy" status. He only went back to the Realm of Sleep to thank the Dram Eaters for their service, that's it, nothing more.

I haven't played DDD(mwahaha oops) but I know what happens in the game so I would think it would take place after a couple weeks, I dont think it would take Kairi or Lea too long to master their keyblades..

Well SE says KHIII takes place immediately after Dream Drop Distance so maybe a week or so?

A very small gap.

As long as the plot line says the gap is.

They said sora is older in this game. It has to have been a year, at least.

Maybe like a week after. Like, the gang is relaxing on Destiny Islands and then they start their adventures.

Kairi's gotta train, yo.

Kairi's gotta train, yo.

It's not like Sora trained. :P

It's not like Sora trained. :P

Sora's special. And he totally did. He fought Riku, Wakka, Tidus, and Selphie all the time!

Haha true. :P

The opening section of the game will take place immediately after DDD and deal with them taking down Xehanort. The rest of the game will fast-forward twenty years into the future with Sora as a grizzled 30 year-old man who uses guns now instead of Keybladess. $$$ confirmed
