If KH3 came out today and it was bad...

Posted

If Kingdom Hearts III were to come out today and it was terrible...Which aspect would you prefer it to be terrible in?The Gameplay or The Story?

I know this is a weird topic but remember this is a just a HYPOTHETICAL. Plus, most if not all Kingdom Hearts fans would not want this to occur at all.

Ehhh, the gameplay probably.

I just think of Re:CoM and Re:coded:

I love the story of Re:CoM, but I hate the gameplay.

Out of these two Re:CoM is my favorite, so for Kingdom Hearts I prefer the story over the gameplay ;)

Story is the strongest aspect in Kingdom Hearts, so I'd prefer that the game had terrible gameplay.

Spare the story. I'd rather terrible gameplay. This is a little hard for me to say because thanks to E3 and Jump Festa, the gameplay is absolutely incredible.

i'd rather it have a terrible story. i mean the games are basically at that point already so it wouldn't really disappoint me. usually the KH series is always good for having entertaining gameplay to some degree.

plus i wouldn't want to endure terrible gameplay just for a good story. more often than not i just stop caring because i'm not having fun.

I'd rather go with a bad gameplay myself, I'd just play it for the story and cutscenes and that'd be it :D

You are my spirit animal. I completely agree with this.I mean story is important in a video game especially when it comes to Kingdom Hearts. However, at the end of the day it is still a video game. So if I had to choose which aspect had to suffer it would be the story.

First, I have to congrat you for bringing such an unexpected, but thoughtful topic xD

Now, on topic:

Depends to what degree of terrible you mean, if it's bad, but you could play through it (like Re: Coded's story or X's gameplay), then I would rather a bad... no idea, maybe gameplay because I've been waiting for KH3's story for so long so it might as well be worth it, or maybe story since you can have fun with the gameplay despite the story being terrible.

Now, if it's just plain terrible, thye might as well just screw the whole thing up, I wouldn't be getting it even if I had the money and the console (which I don't have by the way xD)

Well, the story has already been mauled beyond belief, so I suppose one more stab would almost be unnoticeable. Might as well have something that's fun to play.

Terrible gameplay. I'm horrid at this game series, but I sure am invested into this convoluted plot.

I just want the spiky-haired children to be ok.

I'd definitely prefer bad gameplay. :x I'm largely only in KH for the story at this point; nice mechanics are just a bonus. xD

The story is already terrible enough or too much confusing, only the characters are interesting.

So please no bad gameplay.

Um, I'd rather that it didn't at all, because Kingdom Hearts excels in BOTH gameplay and story, so if one was completely botched for the benefit of the other, it just wouldn't be a very satisfying experience for me.

I know you tend to prefer the gameplay over the story more often than not (or was that someone else...?), but with Kingdom Hearts, since we've gotten a pretty solid balance with both the whole way through, it would just be very unfitting if they just randomly wanted to drop caring about the story for the sake of making the gameplay really awesome. Likewise, it would also be very pointless if the story was the most well-developed the series had ever seen only for the gameplay to be the worst the series has ever seen.

There is no true way to win in that scenario, so I'd rather not have to pick either. Either finish the game so that both the gameplay AND story are made the best they can possibly be, or keep delaying it until you can do that and release it later once you do. There is no rushing this game in my eyes, only working till perfection (well, near-perfection realistically) is made.

The gameplay. I can deal with bad gameplay as long as the story is good.

Story.

I can't play games with bad gameplay no matter how good the story is.Rather just watch all the cutscenes online instead.I play video games for the gameplay, the story is just a plus.

Bad story. It would have to have great gameplay for anybody new to want to play it, or to have any level of replay value.

Even though I love the story, when it comes down to it we always end up playing games with a bad storyline because the game is just, fun.

Well, if Kingdom Hearts III would turn out to be terrible, (Though I doubt that'll be the case!) I'll still love it either way!  But if I had to pick one aspect of the game I'd prefer to be terrible, it'd be the gameplay!  I mean, I can go through bad gameplay if the game has a good story, ya know?  And that applies to Kingdom Hearts! I love the series, and as such, I'd finish up the Xehanort Saga, regardless of how bad the gameplay would be, ya know?

But like you said, this is all hypothetical!  Odds are the game will be excellent in both story and gameplay! :3

Dream Drop Distance had a god awful story, but fun gameplay.I bet KH3 will be the same.

I mostly care about the opening, dearly beloved, the Keyblade War and ending.

Those will be probably be very great so other things won't really matter.

The story is really confusing and poorly executed at times already but I still have fun because the gameplay is usually good.

All I want for KH3 is to go to fun worlds and each world to have a good story. I really would not mind much if the overall story is bad, but if the gameplaay is bad and we get a poor world selection then I will be mad.

well they cant mess up the things i care for, they have to have some kind of opening song, and a last boss fight. so i guess i could oversee if they mess up the stuff in between since its already a mess (i have no problem if they fix it up in kh3 tho lol) gameplay is what made me come back to kh2 over all these years and i think its quite a bit more important than the story. i guess its really 50/50 here.
