No Final Fantasy based worlds will appear in Kingdom Hearts III

When asked by Gamespot about the possibility of Final Fantasy based worlds in Kingdom Hearts III, co-director Tai Yasue answered that they would not be adding any.

Tai Yasue's quote follows:

"We're not adding any Final Fantasy worlds. A lot of the original [to Kingdom Hearts] worlds [Hollow Bastion, Traverse Town, e.t.c.] had Final Fantasy characters in them. At this moment, we are not really coming up with any plans for that, we're making original worlds and Disney worlds."

Yasue also went on to add that worlds are often selected for gameplay and how well they would mesh in with the Kingdom Hearts series, going on to say that they want to make sure there's a variety, with Disney worlds that are recognized but also distinct and unique.

Co-director Tai Yasue will be featured in a Square Enix Presents livestream during E3 on June 15th, 2016 dedicated to discussing Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. This livestream will take place from 4:00 to 4:30 PDT. For all the latest E3 news, please check out our coverage article.

Rip Gaia. But it's not too big of a deal as long as we still have our FF friendos (and then some, hopefully).

... Although, this on top of the "difficulty" putting in the TWEWY cast is kind of a bummer.

Thanks for this article, Sora'spromise!

Hmm, interesting, so we'll be seeing no Final Fantasy worlds in Kingdom Hearts III, eh?  Well that's okay, I don't mind!  As long as we get FF character cameos, that's good enough for me!  I'd love to see Caius Ballad, Kain Highwind and Noctics to appear in the game! :D

I wasn't really expecting it, but it would have been interesting if they took assets from FFVII Remake and put some of that into KHIII to make Midgar a world since I'm assuming Cloud and Sephiroth still come from there and their little plot thing still isn't finished.

I never really get why people think we would; all the Final Fantasy characters we see clearly come from established worlds (might have been some doubt between KH and KHII, but anyway).

I'd love to see characters from Final Fantasy XIV! I know it's an MMO, but a lot of the central NPCs of XIV would lend themselves well to Kingdom Hearts, I think.

So you're saying there is a chance of TWEWY world?

I'm honestly disappointed to hear that there's a likely chance of Radiant Garden not returning. We've seen Radiant Garden at its best and worst, and I was really hoping it would come full circle with how the memories returned to its residents in KH2.

I am almost 100% sure Lightning will be the mount Olympus Final Fantasy Character Cameo because we've seen in every Olympus coliseum there has been a new cameo (Cloud, Zach, Auron) also she is the character that ties closest to the Gods

Radiant Garden isn't a Final Fantasy world, my friend.

Obviously, but it was mentioned how a majority of the Final Fantasy characters that appeared throughout the series origin from there/Traverse Town. Because of that statement he made pointing out this fact it sort of confused me as far as what he considered original

Cross your fingers with me that FF characters will appear, as well as Radiant Garden. :)

Well it's not like there's ever been any FF worlds in KH in the first place, so as long as we get FF/TWEWY characters in original and Disney worlds, I think we'll be fine.

TWEWY isn't a Final Fantasy game... so you're telling me a chance? :P

I do hope the game makes use of some good FF cameos though. Feels like the series has been lacking in that area since KH2.

I'm not surprised tbh. Final Fantasy characters in Kingdom Hearts were meant to serve as cameos. And the thing is, even though the FF characters were popping up in the Kingdom Hearts games, most of them didn't live in any worlds that particularly belonged to FF. They were living only in the original KH worlds.

But i'm still hoping for more FF characters. Maybe like Noctis or Vincent Valentine :)

Just because worlds from final fantasy won't appear doesn't mean characters won't. He didn't say that. It's just the worlds. And Radiant Garden WILL appear because it's original to the series and important to the plot as it is Kairi's original home.

I'm a little disappointed, but only because I wanted Riku to visit the 7th Heaven bar, because his voice actor played a character on 7th Heaven.

I think Nomura was talking about worlds that originated from Final Fantasy games (like Lost TIme).

I have a feeling that her Lightning Returns iteration will be in the game. She was literally serving God in that game, so put two and two together and it makes perfect sense.

These guys are getting really desperate. It's not the first time they ask this.

Kingdom Hearts franchise has a pattern of Disney worlds + Original worlds that must be followed until the end.

I'm glad that Tai didn't back down. Props to him!

Would be nice if Lightning was announced tonight :).

If KH3 appears.

Edit: Sorry it comes later today.

That is a really good idea :D

Anyways, why is this such a surprise and why are people misinterpreting this........... No final fantasy worlds means no final fantasy worlds, it doesn't mean we won't see FF characters. I'd like an FF world in the next saga though, but KH3 was never expected to have Final Fantasy worlds.
