I don't consider that too dark for a ten-year old. Besides I don't see the point in why this scene is somehow more traumatizing than anything else in the series. But I quess that's subjective.

To be honest, I think it should be in there as well. Not only does it add suspense to this moment and helps add feeling, but it is a very easy way to show the audience who is in control of terranort. Yes it's a series that's rated E, but for a game series that has fighting as its base mechanic, there is not a whole lot they can do to add suspense. Care about this, but for the sake of an E rating) they should be allowed to show a bit of violence.
 
If it makes you feel better, in this scene he is not gripping her by the neck, he is only grabbing the front of her shirt to hold her up.

Heck make it Teen rated and allow it to become darker. That scene is so awesome!
 
In fact, the original Disney animations such as Snow White and Peter Pan do have their dark moments.
The scene where the Evil Queen transforms into an old hag was even censored in some countries for being "too scary".

I hope it's somewhat similar to his Kingdom Hearts II outfit, or at least based on it because let's face it; that was the best looking outfit he wore. Ever.

We may gripe and complain about how long Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III are taking to make, but let's be honest here- how many of us can afford the games and the corresponding console they run on?
 
Since many of us are unemployed students we don't possess the funds most adult gamers do, Nomura is aware of this and does his best to give us the time to save up and purchase his godly creations
 
One may argue the misleading Versus XIII for PS3 was a waste of money to spend on the PS3, but any money spent towards purchasing a PlayStation 3 is never wasted
 
Another argument could be the money saved up gets spent on other games and systems along the way, but Nomura has taken this into account as well which is why he has given us so much time as the vicious cycle repeats itself
 
So do not cry in anger or frustration, but rather thank Nomura for how long he has delayed III and XV up until now

It's been so long since Kingdom Hearts 2, they may as well call it Kingdom Hearts 15 now too.

I'd ask which one but they both do.
