Just started watching the current filler arc in Naruto... That first episode's pacing was awful.
Shulk repliedI know. It's a shame, this is my favorite series and now it's gone downhill, at least with the anime. On the bright side, I heard that the filler ended today, so hopefully we'll be going back to manga content next week. I just want them to finish it, there are 20 chapters left. They can toss in all the poorly written filler they want after that, I just want to see the final battles in animated format.

Shulk repliedI've been following the manga longer than the anime, but I also really like seeing everything animated. I really hope they finish the anime this year, I don't think I can handle any more random filler interruptions. It doesn't help that they throw in the filler in the middle of an arc, usually at a major moment.

But as Shulk said, they could add fillers at the end of the series like how they did with Naruto before Shippuden. Now, the reason why they're not doing this in that way is because of what I said. Probably loads of people left Naruto aside and went along with Shippuden with the manga, so they don't want this to happen again, they want people...

You can say that Naruto needs extra fillers so there's a nice time gap between the different series (Naruto, Shippuden, etc.), but One Piece and Fairy Tail didn't have to do that when the timeskip ocurred, so that isn't quite right either.

To be fair, Firaga, canon time hasn't been "to the point" lately. We'll get 2-3 canon episodes, then another filler arc. I'd also personally disagree on the comment about the filler being entertaining most of the time, although there have been times that the filler has been good. Not liking where this current arc is going, though.
Shulk repliedIt didn't leave time to establish any of the characters. They either had no personality at all (Kaguya and her assistant, and given that Kaguya's the main character of the arc, that's a bit of an issue in my opinion...), or were really one-note and bland (The good, righteous king that suddenly turns on Kaguya at the end because he's not willing to talk it out with her, and the evil, greedy king that only cares about women).
Shulk repliedI was paying attention. She was just a really boring character. As for the others, they could have tried to make them interesting. I could barely even remember their names. Considering that Kaguya and Tenji had their love story, his sudden orders to kill her seemed out of place. The other land's king was dangerous and manipulative, but Tenji still tried to reason with him peacefully. In the case of his lover, he instantly tries to kill her when he doesn't even have the whole story.

He clearly cared for her during most of the episode, then that care and trust was tossed away at the end just to have Kaguya get betrayed. Also, why was Aino dragged into it as well? She tried to call for piece and was brutally killed as a result. For all they knew, she was taken by force (And it almost seemed that way, given that Kaguya grabbed her arm and ran off right af...

I know that that's how this was supposed to end, too, but still. I feel like Tenji should had tried to help her more than he did. She killed Suzaku's men because they threatened her. Kaguya made it clear that she loved Tenji, I doubt she would have killed him for no reason.Shulk repliedI get that. I still feel like this was better off as a mystery, though. Not every single event needs to be explained in detail, and even then, this could have been handled a lot better if they spent more time on it instead of condensing it into one episode. Of course, that would also mean even more of a wait for manga adaptations, so... Blegh.
Shulk repliedIt was a small look. I feel like a lot more could have been done, both with expanding the history of the world and with Kaguya's backstory. As much as I hate to say it, dedicating more episodes would have made it easier to follow and potentially more enjoyable. I felt like I was being rushed through a long time-span in 20 minutes.

Regarding your post about One Piece's pacing, Firaga, if you mean the current episodes have an awful pace, I'll give you that, but before the timeskip the pacing was great (except for some arcs such as Skypiea and Water 7).

I would agree with you in Water 7, that was long, but Enies Lobby was amazing, maybe it took them a bit too long to reach the tower, but that aside it was amazing! Well, I guess it just comes to the person's liking, some may prefer faster pace and others a rather slower pace.
