God in BIG trouble today and almost got written up because I said the term "Afro-Engineering", not knowing it is a racist term. I have lived in a place where there have not been people of color for about 9 years of my childhood and teenage years and now I am down here with people of color and accidentally say a racist term and almost get sent to the principal.
Dave repliedFrom what I know, "Afro Engineering" is a way of referring to something being built in a shoddy or haphazard way in order to get it working but without finesse. Not to mention that the root of the term is replacing Afro with a far more offensive term. Basically, it's insinuating that something is hastily or poorly built as a result of the African portion of the name.
Lady Aleister repliedWell I used the term because me and my partner did build something for class that was rather poorly built. I used it in a kind of correct context because it was in fact pretty afro-engineered.
