Seriously it had the best paced story. They showed as much detail and developed it in almost every day. If you only do the mandatory missions it's not so repetitive.

It also has the most tragic and touching story.

I kinda hated having to do a bunch of missions when things just started to happen towards the end. I admit, the story is pretty good but the constant repetitive missions made the wait for a cutscene almost unbearable. The cutscenes were also really short for me, so when it went from video back to in game conversations in a matter of 10 seconds, i would get a bit annoyed. Unless the cutscene was actually interesting

It does have a really awesome story. But I still say that BBS is the best as far as story goes.

BBS had some pretty underdeveloped dialogue and characters were kinda underdeveloped if you ask me.

KH1 and COM were ok. I never liked COM's story for some reason.

I think that days could have been MUCH better if it wasn't limited by the original DS...

 

Out of all the games i see days gameplay to be the weakest--- and u wont really progress through the story without the gameplay.

 

So i must hope they revive this game someday on another console that has better performance options and can with that afford a more fun/interesting form of gameplay.

 

Sigh... but i must admit that having to fight the final boss over again with better sound and graphics would only make me more sad...

The point is it got to its Climax in an extremely good way and the story was very well though of.

I loved Days and its tied with BBS to be my second favorite in the series..My first favorite being KH2..I loved the storyline and i actually enjoyed the missions.The joke weapons were funny as firetruck and i loved how emotional it was .

I bet it does have a really good story. But I always try to get the most done on a mission and after a while the game just got really annoying and repetitive. I got it 2 weeks ago and I don't have the will to go on past day 76.Even before I stopped playing I eventually got tired of the characters and stopped caring about what happened

I loved 358/2 days... I totally agree that this game had the best story, out of all the KHs. The missions were a bit repetive but they wern't the same. Lots of worlds in Birth By Sleep were really repetive..... I say 358/2 days is the best KH game! Also 358/2 days has XION!!

Days's story was beautiful. All Roxas wanted to do was have ice cream with his friends. THAT'S ALL HE FIRETRUCKING WANTED! WHY DOES FATE HAVE TO BE SO CRUEL!

 

I can't say I agree, mostly because Xion's whole plot seems very forced. (Though the Disney worlds' treatment and most certainly the gameplay don't endear me either.) She isn't outright unlikeable, but her entire place in the story feels like it's replacing a 8 member hole in the story and failing, and accidentally cheapens Roxas's appeal in the process.

 

To me, Roxas was this doubtful, inquisitive person who couldn't just sit there and idle around. Days just made him look like a passive idiot that only gets to thinking due to an outrageous and convenient twist of fate. Roxas's unusual existential situation (a person with emotion amongst a group of emotionless people) that could have made for a very interesting quest for identity and self-discovery. They could have developed him by having him actually interact with everybody and learning from misunderstandings and conflicts instead of foisting this contrived situation on him, They admittedly touch on this in in the game (In that Saix, Xigbar and Xemnas are trash and Roxas being conflicted over what his role was), but not until close to the end, and it's far from the focus.

 

The focus is almost completely on Xion and how suddenly important she is despite never being previously alluded to in any manner that would naturally come to a person's mind playing the other games.

I found Days to be an interesting setup. I didn't mind the repetitiveness all that much. it gives more insight, I think, on why the other Organization members wanted to rebel (Marluxia, Larxene, Vexen, etc.)--because it was too repetitive and they wanted to be their own "Master."

 

But I do wish there were more animated cut scenes. The "bubble cut scenes" annoyed the heck out of me!!!

 

But for a first time KH game on a DS, which at the time didn't hold all that much storage space--I think KH really pushed its limits with it. They put in as much as they possibly could. I would really like this game for a remaster. Maybe not console. Maybe for the PSP or 3DS where it'll fair out better compared to it's other side games.

First, I want to ask if I am the only one who didn't find the missions repetitive? I was able to play for hours without getting bored. Meh, I also liked the panel system and thought the gameplay was fine, so I guess I am just a rarity.

 

More on topic, I too found Days to have a great story. This sums up my feelings pretty well.

I cared much more for Roxas, Xion, and Axel than I ever did for Sora and friends. Due to Days being the first game I played in the series, I felt that I could connect more with the characters as I was just as clueless and lost as them. Watching their friendship grow, and learning about them as they learned about themselves. Their friendship going through event after event, with both Roxas and Xion being used as tools, and Axel trying and failing to keep them all together. All of it coming together in a tragic conclusion. At the end, I too wished to destroy Riku and the Organization, I wanted to feel the satisfaction of ending them for making Roxas's life miserable even though all he wanted was to be with his friends and eat ice cream with them every day.

 

Though I guess that could be just me. It has always saddened me that most don't share my love of Days. The story was so good, it doesn't matter that it adds so little to the main story.

 

In my personal opinion, Days's story is on par with KHI, and they are beaten only by CoM (because it's story just created such a sense of hopelessness and despair, creating the feeling that the further you progressed the more you condemned yourself to a dark fate) and even then, it is close.

Days' story was terribly paced. You'd do a story element in one world, but wouldn't continue the story until much much later (Often after I'd forgotten what had happened in that world previously)

The Organizaiton members barely factor into the story. We learn nothing new about any of the characters, besides the one new one.

The motivations for any character are ambiguous at best, and self destructive all the other times. Everybody wants to kill everybody for some arbitrary reason, and wonders why those people want to kill them later on.

The relationships are strained at best.

Despite what people say about not knowing who Xion is in future games, nothing would be lsot of Xion wasn't there. She has no special powers, she doesn't fill a gap that was missing. If only Axel and Roxas needed to be saved, nobody would find that strange. She adds nothing of value, and has little character development even then, so she's not a particularly likable character(s). In fact, she is best equated to a puppet, how poetic. She can go through all the actions that should elicit an emotional response, but her performance is so wooden that you feel detached.

There wasn't even much story to begin with. Xemnas is maybe plottign something. Saix is maybe plotting something. Axel is maybe plotting something. Riku is maybe plotting something.

Actually, stop for a second. Riku is a major problem to. He has no motivation, shows up for no reason, his actions make no sense, and he barely factors into the plot. Any scene with he and Mickey seems completely random, adding nothing to the plot. Why was he waiting in TWTNW in the first place anyways?

All the plot happened in TWTNW, the Disney worlds were so inconsequential that they may as well have been wallpaper on a computer. The characters barely interact with the Disney characters, who barely seem like Disney characters.

Most minor plot points are brushed aside as well, never really amounting to anything.

The writing is meh, and there are some dubious translations throughout.

 

So yeah, Days does have one of the better KH scripts.
