July 1, 201213 yr Personally i prefer english voice acting even though it isnt as good as the japanese, i dont know japanese so its kinda hard to understand what they are saying But i have to agree that japanese voice actors are better most of the times Edited July 1, 201213 yr by Nikolasvanitas
July 1, 201213 yr Popular Post I prefer English voice acting. This may sound odd, but most Japanese voices sound too similar to me. I usually have trouble telling them apart, but I can usually pick out English voice actors, simply by hearing them voice a character.
July 1, 201213 yr I prefer to play games with English voice acting. I like to be able to understand what they are saying and sometimes I get tired of reading the subtitles. Although, there are some really good Japanese voice actors that are entertaining to listen to sometimes even though I don't understand a word they are saying.
July 1, 201213 yr I want it to have both http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png, english and then the option to change to Japanese. Like soul calibur
July 1, 201213 yr I prefer German because it's my language, but especially J-RPGs don't get localized VA....only games made in the west... but when I have the choice between English and Japanese...I would prefer Japanese because there are only a few English VA's I really like (for example Crisis Core) the English voices for Final Fantasy X caused that I have canceled the game after a few hours..... BUT....I'm watching a Let's Play for Lollipop Chainsaw and this have to be with English voices because there is a joke with Japanese language and the locations and characters are American
July 1, 201213 yr I prefer the Japanese voices (I assume they are going to have subtitles right) over the English it just sounds better to me.
July 1, 201213 yr The language that the game was made in usually sounds better, IMO. Japanese games sound better in Japanese, and American and other English language games usually sound better in English. After all, the games were made with that language in mind, so some jokes, puns, etc. that only specific language speakers get don't translate well. But occasionally, you'll find a work with superb localization. Kingdom hearts, of course, is a good example, though it falls short here and there. A really good example isn't exactly a game, but an anime (of course there were a couple of localized games released here based off it) is Fullmetal Alchemist, it's my favorite dub to date. July 1, 201213 yr As long as I can understand what their saying somehow, I'm fine. Please correct this =x
July 1, 201213 yr Well, English, seeing as I'm English. But I'd settle for Japanese voices with English text/subs if I had to.
July 1, 201213 yr I don't know about you all, but I for one wouldn't want Japanese voices on Western developed games. Japanese voices sound cool when they fit their characters, so typically in Japanese games. The best Japanese voices are the really deep, semi-croaky, male voices that sound like absolute bosses (like Xemnas' jap voice, for example). There are some great English versions for these voices as well, but I cbf listing them. Personally, I think the best dub ever is Iron Chef. The way they try to convey the feeling is hilarious, especially because the words and mouth movements are not in sync. "Mmmmmm. . . .this is very good. I like how the beef is very tender. The sauce complements it very well too. Mmmmmm. . .) P.S. I'm not a huge fan of the super high pitched japanese female voice; it annoys me at times.
July 1, 201213 yr I don't care as long as the voice acting doesn't annoy me. But most of the time I prefer English. o3o
July 1, 201213 yr I don't speak Japanese, so I only prefer to hear English voices. I normally don't like Japanese with English subtitles, but the only exception I made was for Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
July 1, 201213 yr As long as there are english subtitles on the Japanese one then I don't mind either way if the voices sound good.
Do you prefer to play video games with Japanese or English voice acting?
