Everything and nothing is art- it simply is, and isn't

Yes, because you are taking an artistic/creative story and taking architectural designs and also character artwork into play...putting and designing a story together is an art and a way to utilize it to impact others is an art in itself.

Some are art for sure, but maybe not all of them. Some are stories, some are statements, some are their own little thing, but most of them are somewhere in between. Art expresses and invokes ideas and emotions, and comes in plenty of forms. Games can definitely be one of those forms.

Plus with modern art, you can call just about anything a masterpiece anyway, so yeah.

I dream of a day decades from now, when videogame assignments are assigned instead of book assignments

That won't happen, and if you want to make video games in school there's classes for that.

Just let a man dream, dreams, though not always realistic, are very dream-y.Yes, and Sonic 06 is a two year old Michel Bay's kindergarten art project when he had broken thumbs.

To a certain degree, yes I think video games are art. They are like any other painting or drawing but are able to move around, jump, have personalities, or anything else you can think of. I guess video games are "dead" pieces brought to life.

Michael Bay was currently working on TRANSFORMERS at that time.

"dang kids, always reading books. Why don't they go and play outside" -some dad from the 1600's

I don't really think of video games as an art form as much as I do a culmination of various arts. Think about it, video games often contain stories, music, and visual art, all in one package. Whether it should be considered an art form in it's own right, I'm not sure.

That was his English project.

If movies can be considered art, video games definitely can be, too. Heck, I get more emotional reactions out of games than I do almost any movie.

I consider all games art, even if it's bad, it's still art.

Movies, TV Shows, music, and even books are a form of art, however, video games are more than just an art, they're an immersive experience full of interaction between the player and the character. You make most of the choices that affect a games story. You pour your own heart and soul into it by playing it, just like the developers did creating it. Video games are honestly art that is incomplete without the person interacting with it. All art has meaning to it, but with games, you put hours of your life into it just to reach the end and discover its meaning. Video games are a form of art that we can take part in rather than watch, listen, or imagine.

Play, in order, Alice: Madness Returns, Silent Hill: Homecoming, and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop distance, do nothing but watch the backgrounds, and don't tell me that wasn't some beautiful ass art you just saw.

this is really common sense art is something you draw for example a game like kingdom hearts they drew it 1st which was art then turn it to a game <3

I'd have to say....yes, yes they are art. :P

Honistly, there's a lot of thought that goes into these games.....even bad ones too are an art form too really.

....Though ones like kirby and pokemon are my favorites. :) And of course kingdom hearts^^

Ofcourse. You even have games that strive to be seen as art, such as Okami and Journey.

It makes me very happy that not one person has voted "No." on the poll.

Video games are not art . Video games are "entertainment" .

Ya had to go and say it.

I think a large number of video games with story are art, I remember being involved in an argument with someone who did art at GCSE and hated video games.

I had homework once in Computing to go home and play games.

Yes, I think video games are art.
