Now, I'm not trying to insult her character. I actually support Kairi, and find her to be a pretty good character. Seriously, though... Why did she get not one, not two, but THREE themes in the first game? Riku and Sora didn't even get themes in the original Kingdom Hearts games, so why did Kairi get three?

The harmonic chords are slightly harsh [which gives that sense of trouble], but her calming main melodic overtune overrides it. It's an audio symbolism for what she becomes for Sora and Riku: A comforting thought during a time of distress for them [until they find her].

 

 

 

Kairi III: My personal Favorite. A call back to more innocent times. In a way [and on a personal opinion, I believe] it hints at her true nature. It's Simple and Clean, Innocent, child-like, pure, and practically heavenly [expected from a princess ].

 

The different themes play given the context in which she is referenced, whether on screen or off screen.

Where did I say I didn't like them? I just don't get why they didn't give her a single theme. Heck, Sora and Riku got nothing in the first game. From what I remember, Riku's never came until Days.

It isn't so much an indicator of Kairi as it is an indicator of her presence and meaning within the story, and what that means to the characters. It's like how in FFIX, the Melodies of Life tune appears many times, and each time it has a different meaning depending on how its applied to the scene. Kairi's musical theme gets remixed a lot because Kairi's literary theme appears more than a few times in different ways and forms.

I understand them making different ones to reflect her character, but I'm still not sure that it was that necessary to make three different themes.

So too with Kairi: yes, its a theme about Kairi, but it transgresses just being about the character herself and means more about the character's thematic standing in relation to the other characters and the story. In this regard, Kairi's very important: she's in a coma for most of the game, but the things she symbolizes are what drives Sora, Riku, the plot, and the artistic underlining of the story. The theme doesn't just mean "this is the part where Kairi the character is on screen;" it can also mean "the things which Kairi means is on screen."

Well actually it's more than just Kairi being their driving force anymore since they're together again. It's more like everyone they know that are the driving forces of their actions now(based on Sora's most popular line in KH3D "My friends are my power").

Melodies of Life isn't necessarily related to a character as it's sort of like one of the main themes of the game not just for Zidane and Garnet

 

I like Kairi's themes,but honestly it kinda suffers from the same issue as One Winged Angel....getting spammed a LOT
