2002-2004; I can't remember exactly when it was I first got it (or from whom, honestly) but it was before KH2 came out. I first got my PS2 in early 2004, so it was within that year.

2006.

Saw commercials for the first back when it was being released, and saw my cousin play it shortly after release. Got it within a few months, if I remember correctly. Been with it from the start.

Since 2002.

At roughest estimate, AFTER GBA Com had come out, and during KH II's ending release dates, because I clearly remember DAYS coming out. So 2006 or so, I think.

Been with it since 2002. I found out about it from the commercial. And the only reason I was excited to get it because it had Peter Pan in it (I was a really big Peter Pan fan back than).

I've seen the first game's commercial on TV, way before having a PS2.

I wanted to have it as a first PS2 game, but it was sold out in the store, and I ended up picking Jak and Daxter.

I got it I think when I was in 7th or 8th grade. (I got it pretty late...)

Ok, I love telling this story. So back when I was in my late teens, (I'm gonna say between 17-19) I went through a The Nightmare Before Christmas fangirl stage. :D  I saw it for the first time on the Disney Channel around Halloween. I had been wanting to see that movie for so MANY years and finally, I got my chance. So after I saw it, I was pretty much obsessed with all things TNBC. I got the video game Oogie's Revenge for the PS2 and after finishing it (kinda, I never got past Oogie's final form. >.<), I went searching to see if there were anymore TNBC games I could play. That's when I came across Kingdom Hearts for the very first time. I had never even heard of KH before and knew nothing about what the series was about. But I saw it had a TNBC part in the game, so I bought the first one at Gamestop. Yes, I originally only bought the game for The Nightmare Before Christmas. xD Well, needless to say, once I put in the game and watched the opening cinematic for the first time, I forgot all about TNBC. :D I remember sitting on my chair thinking to myself, what is this game that I've come across! xD And as they say, the rest is history. :) I've been a fan ever since. <3

2005 iirc. A friend lent me KH CoM, which he ironically wasn't completely into the series till I played it.

Sometime between 2005 to 2007.  My brother found KH2 at the local Blockbuster and gave me the rental, saying I'd like it since Disney characters I knew were in it.

True enough, I enjoyed it and loved the series ever since.

The day the game came out in America, even though I wasn't the one playing it I was still watching it being played by my cousin, plus that Christmas is when I got the game for myself!

6 years old in 2002. Not sure how long after it came out, but pretty certain it was in the same year.

2002 - 2003! I got into it after a friend of my brother's brought it over for me to play and I begged my parents to buy it for me haha.

A commercial for either the first game or Chain of Memories if I recall. But I didn't really get interested until I came across a screenshot of KH2 in a Disney Adventure magazine. It was for Gamer of the Month, but the game wasn't even out in America yet, and the kid was from Ohio. Must have imported it or something, lol. xD

Also, I saw some guys playing the first one at my local youth center, it was the beginning part. By that point I knew "I wanted in." <3

I got into it around 2004 or 2005 ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

my cousin showed it to me when I was about 5 or 6 years old!

still a huuuuuuuuge of it today!!

It was my older brother's fault that I'm like this and he regrets it. xD I think my first contact was actually in 2006ish... but I never became a hardcore fan until 2012: THE END OF THE WORLD! xD

Peace!

Do you mean when I heard about it or when I first played it? I started playing KH in 2011, but I had heard some things about it before...

It all started with my very eccentric friend. He's friendly to a fault, and was very silly, as silly as 4th graders could get.

He started talking to me about Kingdom Hearts 2 while burning time running on the track, but I had no idea what he was talking about, mainly because he never filled me in on Kingdom Hearts 1.

IIRC, he started talking about the Organization and how he found this huge factory of Heartless, and I drew the conclusion that Organization XIII was a bunch of upset workers trying to get revenge on their boss by stealing this Kingdom Hearts.

Sadly, I moved away from that town, but I never forgot that game he talked about. Couple of years later, my uncle gave me his copy of Kingdom Hearts 1 and I bought a copy of Kingdom Hearts 2.

I played to about Deep Jungle, then quit because I didn't like how the game played.

I moved on to Kingdom Hearts 2, filled myself in with the internet, and fell in love with the game. I sometimes jump on that profile from time to time, looking at my Beginner Mode Lvl 99 save file that I grinded from the Pride Lands Peak.

I was just a wee little one, about 7 or 8- and my mom worked at a video store in our little country town. She rented the game out of curiosity on day, brought it home, and said "Let's play! " I remember very distinctly looking at the cover, seeing Sora's weapon, and saying "That's a bad game. :( " Eventually, my mother and older cousin convinced me to play along with them, so I chimed in- literally having no idea what I was getting myself into. And- well.....the rest is history! We all feel absolutely in love with it, including my mom- and I even remember her letting me staying home from school once, just to play it. One of the best parts has to be when mom and I tried to take Leon on by ourselves. (Yeaaaaaah, that fight didn't last long. ) From that point on, we let my cousin handle the really tough battles. I just really like finding things, and driving he gummiship. xD They both still like the series, but haven't kept up with it as much as I have. Mom hasn't played it since KH1, and I think my cousin dropped off somewhere along BBS, or so...

But Pandy....is still going strong!!! :D

2003 I think. I got my PS2 a year earlier with Final Fantasy X, so when a year later I saw a game that was "like FF, but with Disney", I needed to have it. I remember having to convince my parents to get it for me, saying "They named it a Platinum game, that means it must be a great game", and then first playing it. The look on their eyes during the surreal (at least for them) intro sequence was priceless. :D

2006/2010

I played kh2 when it came out

2010 was my re-discovery of series.

November 2009. This one video with Reno (from FF VII) and Axel together, got me confused on who "Axel" was. That's when my obsession began.

I first saw the game when I was at my friends place back in 2002. I decided to buy it myself and haven't looked back since. The series is my longest running obsession <3

2002, ever since I saw the add for Kingdom Hearts I xD

I STILL REMEMBER SEEING SEPHIROTH ON THE ADD, IT'S GOTTA BE TRUE

I was in the dark side of the force, i thought that Disney and square would be a childish game and a total rape for final fantasy.

Then a friend of mine insisted on showing me the game and OMG! I was sooooo wrong!!

he brought me back to the light side and just after that i bought a PS2 with kh1.

So 2002 for me!
