Siliconera is reporting a Final Fantasy VII remake is in development for PlayStation 4. Motomu Toriyama, an event planner on the original game would most likely be the director since he revealed that he will be revealing his new title in 2015 and Kitase is most likely the producer for his title again.

Well if this is true, SE finally gave in and realized that this will be an instant money maker. I am more excited to see fan reaction videos to the news than I am about the news itself.

If this is really going to happen then square enix will win E3 this year. This is just huge. If they show off KH3 gameplay and an FF7 remake in the same conference, i think my heart will stop lol

The article is nothing but a shamful clickbait article with no source to why they think it is coming. Siliconera have slowly become a joke in the last few months with their clickbaity headlines. All they are doing is getting some of that precious E3 traffic to their site.

 

I'll believe that a FF7 remake is on the way when SE themselves announce it and even then I won't care, mainly because FF7 fans are an arrogant bunch and I don't think they deserve a remake. It literally cannot live up to the hype and there are better Final Fantasy games.

I would skip FFVII remake as it was the worst Final Fantasy yet.

I've used Siliconera for years and they're not known to put up click-baity stuff... but this is the FFVII remake. Shenmue 3/Last Guardian level stuff.

To add to what i said before, the possible release date for this would be in 2017 since it coincides with the 20th year anniversary of Final Fantasy 7. If this is really a PS4 exclusive then it will shoot sales up 10 fold. I also believe Square Enix should bundle in a demo of the FF7 remake with FFXV to sell more copies of FFXV like they did with Type-0. Its an amazing marketing strategy

it sold over ten million units, but that's really not a huge number, and FF as a brand has declined in value since then

Eh, not saying anything on it until we get an official confirmation. I won't be watching Square's stream anyway since it overlaps with Nintendo's, but I guess I'll keep an eye out to see if this is actually happening. It'd make up for that horrible reveal of the PC port last year.
