I think I see where you’re coming from, but I think it really depends on the player. For instance, what about people who play and beat a game once, but never touch it again. That doesn’t seem so different from people spending money on a gacha that will eventually disappear.

Obviously you could look at it differently depending on how much people spend on a gacha and whatnot, but if people are getting more hours out of their gacha character than people get out of a full game, seems ok to me.

But then again, no one asked me 😅

i had more temptation to spend on khux, and even then i still never passed the $60 limit i set for myself (which, if i could go back and change things, wouldn't even be there because i'd tell my past self to spend absolutely nothing, not even $60)

i think there's some big differences. with the single purchase of a standalone game, you're not constantly putting money into it like some players do with gachas (i'll be ignoring that some of these standalone games also have microtransactions for now). on top of that, the standalone game can be played many times over, but the gacha will almost always be taken offline inevitably (also ignoring things like concord which is both always available to the people who bought it and never again available to everyone else)

that's specifically what i ended up spending actual money on. nothing else in the game required it, so i never felt the need to pay to get what i could obtain normally through regular gameplay
